A New Year on the Horizon

Soon after starting the game up tonight, I spotted Saharah. She was looking for old wallpaper, and I remembered that I had three of them ready to go from last time. I gave them to her, and in return, she gave me a lunar horizon.

Saharah: Here...a lunar horizon. Very exotic... Treasure it. It is a very rare thing.

I do like the lunar horizon, but I already have one. It’s the lunar surface that I need. In fact, I’ve been waiting to get the lunar surface from Saharah for eight years now! I’ve still never got one from her in all this time. She’s driving me loony! 😉

I went around asking my villagers if they had any old wallpaper to give me. My favorite villager, Savannah, was the only one who did.

Savannah: That's fine! You're really welcome to my old one. It's not like I need it for anything!Benedict was sick with bird flu a cold, so I gave him some medicine that I already had in my pockets. This is him flapping flipping in the air; he is not part of that screen behind him, even if may look like it.

Benedict flips as he takes some medicine.Random, useless trivia: Four of my ten current villagers have four-letter names: Coco, Opal, Chow, and Tank. Four others have eight-letter names: Broccolo, Savannah, Bluebear, and Benedict. The other two have six letters: Static and Twiggy. They all have an even number of letters in their names. How odd…

I was planning on making a snowman today. Well, until this happened.

Some of my villagers were talking about New Year’s Eve being tomorrow.

Chow: So, you ready to say good-bye to 2016 tomorrow? Got any juicy resolutions to share?
I’m not sure what Broccolo is doing up there.

I don’t plan on playing for the countdown tomorrow night, but I will be back on Sunday (New Year’s Day). I want to be sure to pick up my New Year’s shirt, as I do every year. So I hope to see you then, and I hope you all have a happy and safe new year!

Chow the Kendo Star

I visited Static last night, and he made it clear that he’s not a fan of winter. He said it makes it hard to maintain his cheerful disposition. Ha! What a joke. He’s the grumpiest squirrel I know.

Static: Nothing against winter, but when I freeze up like this, it's hard to maintain my cheerful disposition! When I went over by Tank’s house, I had a flashback to the days when Nintendo still supported online play for ACCF. Merry’s house used to be in this spot at one point. I would often bury a pitfall seed right behind the tree in front, and then I’d ask my visitors to meet me at Merry’s house. My regular visitors soon caught on, but many newcomers fell for it. Good memory.

Chow was saying that he used to be a kendo star, and that he had a great body that drove the girls crazy. Broccolo found that hard to believe, and asked why the last girl Chow had over looked mad when she got on the bus back home. Chow wasn’t happy that Broccolo was seemingly spying on him.

Chow: ...You were spying on me! Does anyone else know about that? And yet, Chow was the one spying when I had a conversation with Opal. Opal said she was thinking about moving away, but I told her to stick around.

Chow: Wah! I have such a hard time thinking about major decisions!I wanted to change my path back to blue ice bricks, but Able Sisters was closed. So I started up the game again tonight and changed them back.

My blue ice brick paths.
Don’t mind Twiggy. Staring at walls is one of her pastimes.

I saw a big fish in the ocean, so I fished myself out a tuna.

Hey, big tuna.

Opal asked me to make a delivery to Chow, and I agreed to help out. Their homes are pretty close to each other, after all. The gift was plank flooring, and that apparently brought back some memories for Chow. He said Opal has a memory like an elephant!

Chow: Plank flooring? That takes me back. Opal's got a memory like an elephant! When I returned to Opal, she rewarded me with some blue flooring.

That’s all I have for now, but I’ll be back again next week. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Winter & Christmas Lights

Winter has arrived, and snow now covers the grass and trees in town. I caught a glimpse of the northern lights tonight, although they were past their peak and starting to fade away.

Unfortunately, I didn’t see any shirts I liked…but I did see this motocross helmet for sale. It was blue and shiny, and I couldn’t resist it.

Me wearing a motocross helmet I just bought from Able Sisters in ACCF.Of course that clashed with what I was already wearing, making my kiwi shirt look even worse. So I changed into my UFO pattern shirt for now; at least it’s blue and black like the helmet.

As I walked around, I noticed that Christmas lights are also on some of the cedar trees around town.

When I visited Chow, he asked me to catch a centipede for him. Yikes.

Chow: How about it? You're a mighty bug hunter, right? Catch a centipede, and bring it to me!
He says he wants a centipede, but his face says otherwise.

I tried banging several rocks, but I only found pill bugs, not centipedes. He may be on his own for that request.

At Nook ‘n’ Go, I decided to order a racing shirt (not to be confused with the racer shirt or racer 6 shirt) to go along with my helmet. I should have that next time.

I was also trying to find Opal, since I didn’t see her anywhere in town. I eventually found her in the Roost. We had a nice chat about coffee, and how delicious it is.

Opal: I thought coffee was just something that kept you awake. I didn't realize it could be delicious!I’ll see you all next time. Happy holidays!
