Nan on the Lam

Nan is moving out of town; I found her all packed up and ready to go today. I don’t know why she’s running away, but I’m okay with it. She’s not bad, but I’m not really a big Nan fan.

Nan: Well, there's no point in hiding it. You've probably guessed, but I've decided to leave Forest. At Able Sisters, there was a Jingle shirt for sale. Since it’s almost December, I decided to buy it and put it on.

Over by the waterfall, Samson asked if I’d like to play a game of hide-and-seek. I agreed, so I had ten minutes to find Samson, Opal, and Benedict. I found Benedict after one minute and Opal after two minutes, so I thought it was going to be an easy game.

However, the timer kept counting down as I circled around town without finding the mouse man. But with two minutes to go, I found Samson behind a tree. He actually wasn’t far from where Opal was. It wasn’t easy, but I won the game. Samson rewarded me with a folding chair. Not a gyroid? Surprising.

Samson: OK, to commemorate your awesome victory, here's a folding chair for ya!I visited my newest neighbor, Champ the monkey, and he told me that he recently challenged Tangy to see who could stay awake the longest. It took him 98 hours, but Champ is the…well, champ.

Champ: But I have to say, it was tougher than I thought. Good thing I'm awesome. But staying awake for long periods isn’t the only thing Champ and Tangy have in common: They both own that cool train set. 🙂

I decided to shake a tree, and the very first tree I shook had a bee in it! But fortunately, I was able to catch the bee before it stung me.

I caught a bee! Bzz! Bzz! Bzz!Midge locked herself out of her house, but I didn’t bother helping her out. I saw Pete out delivering mail, which meant that today was not a UFO day. It’s been a year and a half since I’ve last shot one down (May 2016)! One of these days, I’ll shoot that ship down once again…

Harvest Festival 2017

Today is Thanksgiving in the United States, and Animal Crossing celebrates the occasion with the harvest festival. Tortimer was standing outside of town hall, next to tables full of fruit and side dishes…but no main course. Tortimer gave me a knife and fork.

Tortimer: Gobble dee HO! Gobble dee HAY! It's the Harvest Festival today!Tangy was using the holiday to…look for a boy? She was hoping a boy would fall in love with her after seeing her elegant cutlery moves. And she just happened to be wearing a very skimpy bikini as well.

Tangy: I'm hoping some handsome boy sees my elegant cutlery moves and totally falls for me, I'm a gem!
I don’t think your cutlery moves will be what catches their attention.

I soon found Franklin the turkey hiding behind Midge’s house. He seemed a little tense.

Franklin: I'm freakin' out here!I gave him the knife and fork, and he gave me a harvest lamp in return. I went back to Tortimer for another knife and fork, and continued my walk around town. The next time I found Franklin, he gave me a harvest dresser.

Franklin: You know what? Just to say thanks, I'll give you this harvest dresser.

Near the northwest bridge, I ran into Champ the monkey. Like PoizonMushro0m (Mike) pointed out in a comment last time, some people think Champ may really be Porter, who runs the train station in the GameCube game and in New Leaf. Champ’s catchphrase seems to support this theory, seeing that his catchphrase is “choo CHOO.”

Champ: Knowing that you look awesome is half of actually being awesome, choo CHOO!When I visited Benedict, he told me the plan for today: Stuff your face, complain about being full, and then go back for more.

Benedict: First you stuff your face, then you complain about how full you are, then you go back for more!Once I finished making my rounds, I focused on hunting down Franklin. I’d give him the knife and fork, get a piece of harvest furniture, get new cutlery from Tortimer, and then look for Franklin again.

Franklin: Don't eat me!

In all, I found Franklin ten times. I then sold the furniture for a total of 33,330 bells. It’s actually not worth as much as I was thinking; the spooky and Jingle sets are worth much more.

Happy Thanksgiving if you’re in the United States like me! And if not, I hope you enjoyed the harvest festival in any Animal Crossing games that you may have played today. See you next time!

Champ Moves In, ACCF Turns 9

When I started up the game today, I saw that I had a new next-door neighbor! Just like I predicted last time, that spot didn’t stay empty for long. I went inside and met my newest neighbor Champ the monkey. I like him already. 🙂

Champ: WHOA! You must be one of my new Forest neighbors!Tangy, who also lives nearby (just a bit to the south, near the windmill) was sick with a cold today. She must not be eating enough Vitamin C! I bought some medicine for her. Get well soon, Tangy!

Tangy takes some medicine in Animal Crossing: City Folk.
Orange you glad I brought you medicine?

Dotty asked me to make a delivery to Samson, and I agreed to help out. After I told Samson he had a gift from Dotty, he had a big cheesy smile on his face.

Samson, smiling widely: Huh? It's from Dotty? The gift was a fire hydrant. Seems more apt for a dog than a mouse, but Samson seemed to enjoy it. With the delivery a splashing success, I returned to Dotty. She rewarded me a pastel-dot wall.

After making my rounds, I rode the bus out to the city. I decided to make a rare visit to Katrina the fortune teller. After dropping a bucket on my head, she told me something bad may or may not be in my future. So it was just a neutral fortune.

A bucket drops on my head as Katrina prepares to tell me my fortune in Animal Crossing: City Folk. Even though Halloween is over, I spotted Tabby in the city. She told me how she followed a girl back to her bus. I guess Tabby is creepy in more ways than one.

Tabby: And of course, I was all, like, "Where is SHE from," so I kinda followed her to the bus.And today is the 9th anniversary of Animal Crossing: City Folk! It came out on November 16, 2008. Here is my annual slideshow of ACCF pics.
