Not You!

There was a new house in the spot where Bones recently lived, so I walked in to see what was going on. I was not happy when I saw Rizzo inside!

Rizzo: My name's Rizzo. If the boxes didn't give it away, I just moved into town today.
NO, NO, NO, NO, NO!!!

Not only do I strongly dislike Rizzo, but I recently had him in my New Horizons town. And it took me over a year to get rid of him! So I am not pleased to see him again, especially so soon. Ugh. Time to start setting some rat traps, I guess.

It was K.K. Slider night, so I went over to the Roost to check out the show. I asked for a random song, and K.K. played “To the Edge” for me. I didn’t care for it.

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: To the Edge.

After making my rounds, I began my usual summer night bug-hunting session…with a little fishing thrown in too. It didn’t take long for my now-2nd-least-favorite villager Spork to notice the eel in my pocket.

Spork: Oh, Jeff... I couldn't help but notice that you have an eel...
No, I’m not happy to see you.

He wanted me to give him the eel for free, but I asked if he would buy it instead. He offered me 2,533 bells for it, so I handed it over. Tom Nook pays 2,000 bells for eels, so I made a little extra profit this way.

I didn’t see any sharks tonight, but I actually caught two other valuable fish that I don’t normally catch: an arowana and this arapaima.

Showing off an arapaima I caught.

My bug/fish hunt went pretty well overall. I earned about 260,000 bells in a one-hour, 25-minute session.

I’ll see you all next time!

Bad Bug Night

I received Rasher’s goodbye letter in the mail today. So long, pig!

Jeff, Well, I'm finally moving out of Forest tomorrow. If it makes you feel any better, you're the only reason I stayed as long as I did. Thanks, pal. -Your pal, Rasher
I hate when my disliked villagers send such nice goodbye letters. 😛

Nat was hanging out in front of town hall, since the Bug-Off was held today. I played much too late to participate (as always), but Nat informed me that Lucky was the lucky winner. 😉 He caught a 46-point diving beetle…which probably wouldn’t have been very hard to beat.

Nat: The 46-point diving beetle caught by Lucky from right here in Forest.

K.K. Slider was in town, and he played Neapolitan for his Saturday night performance. My favorite part of the song was the chocolate part.

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: Neapolitan.

Back outside, I pitfall’d a few of my villagers for a future video. It’s nothing personal, guys. 😉

Gwen, in a pitfall: Don't look at me! This is SO...embarrassing...

In the western part of town, I spotted a tarantula hanging out on my UFO pattern. I backed away from it to get my net out, then slowly walked over and caught it. Success!

I caught a tarantula! I don't wanna arm-wrestle this guy!

However, my bug hunting was not going very well overall. I was finding lots of mid-range bugs, but hardly any rare ones. I think it’s because I was playing a bit earlier than usual (the 10 p.m. hour). I seem to have more success with rare bugs after 11 p.m.

So my one-hour, 20-minute session only netted me about 120,000 bells. But that’s okay, I’m still on a pretty good pace for meeting my goal since I racked up so much last week.

See you all next time!

A Rash Decision

I ran into Gwen by a pond tonight, and she told me the proper way to hold a fishing rod. She said to extend your pinky finger “WAY out.” But her tip wasn’t about fishing, it was just about looking fantastic while holding a fishing rod. 😛

Gwen: That's the Gwen style of fishing anyway. I don't catch much, but I LOOK fantastic!
Well, about that…

I entered Rasher’s house to see that he had all his belongings packed up in boxes! Yes! My least favorite villager in town is moving out!

Rasher: See, this whole moving thing came up so fast I didn't think I'd have time to say good-bye to folks.

It was K.K. night, so I headed down to the Roost to enjoy a song. He played Aloha K.K. for me. It’s not a bad song, but I was yawning my way through it. 😛

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: Aloha K.K..

Back outside, I listened in on a conversation between Lucky and Queenie. He asked what her daily routine was like, and she went into way too much detail.

Queenie: But only specialty coffee that I get from the Roost. And the cereal NEVER has marshmallows in it.

Lucky was getting frustrated because he didn’t think Queenie was eating enough food…or enough good food. He asked me to catch a catfish for him… wait. A dog wants a catfish? I was fortunate enough to find one in the river, and he rewarded me with a bucket.

Lucky: OK then, let me give you a bucket in exchange, woof woof!
That pails in comparison to most furniture rewards.

And of course, I spent a good chunk of time bug-hunting. I was finding a lot of good bugs. For example, here you can see a golden stag and a giant beetle at the same time. I caught them both. 🙂

A golden stag and giant beetle on nearby trees in ACCF.

My haul included eight scarab beetles, eight goliath beetles, seven giant beetles, three golden stags, three elephant beetles, two hercules beetles, an atlas beetle, a cyclommatus, and a shark.

In all, I earned about 330,000 bells on the night! Granted, it was a fairly long play session (1 hour, 45 minutes), but I’d say it was quite productive. It actually could’ve been even better, but several valuable bugs got away (including a couple of tarantulas that walked into the ocean). But it was enough to bump my bank account balance up to 46 million bells.

Your current balance is 46,000,000 bells.

With Rasher leaving and a big 330k payday, I’d say this was a very good day. 👍
