Gabi’s Birthday

On Tuesday night, I found Pascal standing on the bridge near the museum. He explained how love was like a wave. 🌊

Pascal: Love is like a wave, maaan. You've got highs and lows and a whole bunch of surfing.

I gave him a scallop, and he gave me a ship deck (flooring) in return.

I redecorated my upstairs room again, and I’m now displaying the spooky furniture set. If you’re wondering why now, it’s because I wanted a photo of the full set for my new Halloween Guide. Please let me know if you have any feedback about the guide! I’ve been wanting to expand my selection of guides here on JVGS, so there will be more added in the future.

As of yesterday, festive Christmas lights now adorn many cedar trees around town. I particularly like the area around Pac-Man Pond, where three of the five cedars there are decorated. 🎄

I’ve been noticing a number of new hybrid flowers around town lately, including this new purple tulip!

A new purple tulip blooms in winter.

I also saw a new orange rose and a purple rose elsewhere in town. Funny that I’m getting them now that it’s winter, but I’ll take it. They’re like nice little surprises when you see a new one pop up. 🙂

A message on the bulletin board informed me that it’s Gabi’s birthday. There aren’t villager parties in this game, but I did buy a gift at Nook’s for her (a wet roadway sign) and I sent her a lovely card in the mail.

Gabi, Here's a wet roadway sign to remind you not to end up as roadkill on the highway of life. Happy birthday! -From Jeff

But Gabi wasn’t having a nice birthday, because she’s been sick all week (including today). I helped her out by giving her some medicine for the past three days or so.

Gabi: S-so totally sick... Th-think I'm gonna, like, horf my lunch...

Tom told me he was having some friends over for drinks, including cappuccino, lime soda, and root beer. Sounds good to me!

Tom: I have cappuccino, lime soda, and root beer! It'll be great, I'm evil!

Mint, Wisp

On Wednesday, Harry’s replacement moved in. It was Mint, the green squirrel! I like her! 🙂

Mint: What, can't you tell? I just moved here, and now I'm trying to get everything in its proper place!

As I was UFO hunting, Roscoe stood in a bad place where I was trying to run, and he made me kill a gold rose. 😡 So I pushed him into a pitfall.

Roscoe: S-somebody! Anybody! Help me! Get the mandibles of life, Giddyup!

Despite his cries for help, there was no one around to roscoe rescue him. 😛

I played again tonight, and I was greeted by a mysterious voice.

?????: Sorry. All this running must be hard on your little person legs.

Of course, it was Wisp the ghost. He wanted me to find his lamp for him, and quickly.

Wisp: I don't mean to sound rude, but do you think you could find my lamp a little more quickly?

Seeing him made me realize how rare he is in this game. After all, I play almost exclusively at night, and I still go long stretches at a time without seeing him. In fact, it seems that I haven’t seen him since June 2019! That’s four and a half years! 😮

Anyway, I did find his lamp up behind Able Sisters. (In almost exactly the same spot where it was in 2019!)

Finding Wisp's lamp in Animal Crossing: City Folk.

I returned to the town hall plaza to tell Wisp I found the lamp. He told me to take it up to my attic and rub it…so I did. I asked him for furniture, and he gave me a green desk. Not the most exciting reward, but oh well. It’s nice just to see him again.

Wisp: OK! Here you go! It's a green desk!

I’ll be back next week with another entry. Have a great weekend! 🙂

Elbow Holes

Yesterday, I received Harry’s goodbye letter in the mail. I don’t intend to sound mean, but I’m glad he’s gone. 😛 He stuck around way too long for my liking.

Jeff, Thanks for being here for me. I'm a better animal for knowing you. I'm leaving Forest behind, but I'll be thinking of you in my new home! -Harry

I also got a letter from Tom in the mail. He’s over his cold now, and he sent me a daffodil table to thank me for the medicine I gave him. (I may have forgotten to mention the medicine in last week’s blog entry.)

A tiny bit of trivia I just realized: My City Folk town and my Wild World town both have a pink villager that lives near the beach in the far southeast corner of town. In City Folk, it’s Nana. In Wild World, it’s Peanut.

In the northeast corner of town, I found Saharah. She almost looked like she was hiding up among the cedar trees!

Saharah walking between some trees at the north end of town.

She was looking for old wallpaper, so I began asking my villagers for some. Gabi had no interest in helping me, but she sure liked to laugh about it.

Gabi: Old wallpaper? Why, did you buy an old wall? Tee hee, bear with! Teeeeee hee hee hee!

Tutu gave me some old wallpaper, but she was the only one of my nine villagers to help me out. Fortunately, I had two of them in storage, so I had the three that I needed for Saharah. When I took them over to her, she gave me a meadow vista in return.

Saharah: Here...a meadow vista. Very exotic... Treasure it. It is a very rare thing.

Today, Egbert was telling me that his shirt has holes in the elbows. I don’t think his shirt even has sleeves, let alone elbows.

Egbert: Oh, no! My shirt has holes in the elbows, and I don't think stapling them shut is gonna work this time!

He wondered if Sable or Mabel would mend it for him. I initially thought he was going to ask me for a new shirt to replace it, but I think this was just dialogue based on the fact that we were standing near Able Sisters.

Tom asked me to deliver a shirt (a graduation gown) to Antonio. I agreed to help out, and Antonio loved the gift. Tom then rewarded me with some charcoal tile. But isn’t that a bit like giving me coal in my Christmas stocking? 🤔

Tom: It's not really a proper thank-you, but I put aside some charcoal tile for ya, I'm evil.

I then finished off my night with a Saturday night concert in the Roost. K.K. Slider performed Comrade K.K. for me.

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: Comrade K.K..
