Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer Blog

Hello, and welcome to my Animal Crossing: Happy Home Designer Blog! I'm Jeff and here you can follow along with my adventures in the game. Unlike other Animal Crossing games, Happy Home Designer does not run in real-time. So some blog entries will cover multiple game days. If you'd like, you can start from the beginning or just jump right in! At the bottom of the page, you'll be able to find links to all of the entries. Or read my review.

Day 119

January is here, and a new Happy Home Challenge is underway. This month's theme is "an adventure begins." The two items for this challenge are a propeller plane and a mountain. But since I have already unlocked both of those items in previous challenges, I decided not to participate this time.

So instead, I went out onto Main Street and made a quick visit to the restaurant. Mitzi the cat was there, enjoying a meal. For a moment, I thought she was holding her paws up in the air. Turns out she's just holding up her spoon and fork. Who eats like that?

Mitzi: There's no way I can finish all of this, but I'm actually pretty excited about having it again as leftovers.
Back outside, I ran into one of my favorite penguins, Aurora. She said she wanted to live in a flower shop.

Aurora: Wouldn't it be lovely to live in a flower shop?
I picked out a location on the river for her, and set the season to spring (with cherry blossom petals falling from the sky).

I gave her a pink house and used a flower pop rug in the front yard. Three types of pink flowers were unlocked with this project (pink cosmos, pink roses, and pink carnations), so I filled the yard with them. Orange lillies were also unlocked, but I didn't use them outside.

Indoors, I went with the long room layout. The only new furniture item unlocked for me (aside from Aurora's pic and the potted versions of the flowers I already mentioned) was a barrel planter. So I used that, along with the three items Aurora insisted upon: a flower display case, a flashy-flower sign, and a flower bouquet.

I put up a rose wall and used a pink wood floor, along with a newly-unlocked brick rug. I used a bunch of pastel low tables to display the products, and then put in a variety of flowers on top of them. I gave Aurora a counter and a cash register. The only problem is that she's so short, she can barely see over it!

And of course, I had some fun with the camera. Fly, Aurora, fly!
