Animal Crossing: New Leaf Gulliver Guide

Gulliver will often wash ashore in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, and it's your job to wake him up. He will give you some clues about where he's headed, and based on what he says, you have to correctly answer the multiple-choice question. This guide will tell you the correct answers, so that you can get his 30 exclusive gifts from around the world.

How to Tell if Gulliver is in Town
The sure-fire way to tell is to check out the beach to see if you see him. Or your villagers may mention seeing him on the beach, and suggest that you check on him.

If you have a police station in your town, Copper or Booker will (indirectly) give you a heads-up. They won't specifically mention Gulliver, but they may say that a storm is brewing off the coast, and the rough waters may cause foreign objects to wash up on the shore. Are they calling Gulliver a foreign object? Maybe, but perhaps it's a reference to the actual foreign items that you can get from Gulliver.

Waking Gulliver Up
Before you can answer his question, you first have to wake him up. Note: Your gate must be closed or you won't be able to wake him. When you speak to him, he will often say a few sentences and then go back to sleep. If he does, talk to him again. It will usually take several attempts to wake him up, and I've had it take up to 20 tries! If you want to speed things up, just use the megaphone to call his name. That will make the sailor quickly stand at attention.

Gulliver: AYE AYE, SIR!

Decoding Gulliver's Hints
When you agree to help Gulliver out, he will give you some hints and then ask you where he is headed. His hints involve one or more key topics. The following chart will list each country or location, the topic(s) in Gulliver's hint for that place, and the souvenir Gulliver will send you if you're correct. You can expect the item in the mail the next day. You may want to use Control+F (or Command+F) on your computer to quickly find the topic you're looking for.

Can Gulliver's Items Be Customized at Re-Tail?
Of Gulliver's exclusive items, only one can be customized at Re-Tail: The matryoshka (the Russian dolls). They can be changed from "ladies" (the default) to "gentlemen." This is what the customized version looks like:
