Barbecue Bed DLC & Hamlet’s Goodbye

Yesterday was the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year. In New Leaf, that means the sun doesn’t come out at all the entire day! But it was already after midnight by the time I played, so I didn’t even get to see Isabelle at the event plaza. The four-person face-cutout standee was still up, though.

The winter solstice face-cutout standee and a bare town tree at night.Lily asked me if I enjoyed the winter solstice. I didn’t tell her I missed the event, but thanks for caring, Lily!

Lily: Hi, Jeff! Did you enjoy the Winter Solstice, zzrrbbiitt?Next, I grabbed my Welcome Amiibo cards and scanned the Vivian card. I then headed over to the drive-in campground to check out her RV.

Vivian's RV at the drive-in campground in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. The most interesting item (to me, at least) was the hanging chair. I ordered one for my house.

Hanging chair: 3 MEOW coupons. And then today, Hamlet was all packed up and ready to move out of town. I made sure to say goodbye to the little guy. He sure has a lot of boxes!

Hamlet: Heh heh! As you can probably tell by looking, I'm moving out!I dropped off a Cinnamoroll sofa at Bunny’s town Tiger this evening. Her friend Emma also stopped by while I was there. Hope you enjoy the sofa, Bunny!

I tried getting ahold of Alex (and later Elliott), who had asked about adopting Hamlet, but I got no response. After four hours of waiting (in total), I gave up. In the future, please don’t ask me about a villager unless you’re serious about adopting them and you’re going to be around on the date of the move. (Unless something comes up, in which case you should let me know so I can find someone else instead of waiting all night).

I scanned another of my Amiibo cards, this one featuring Maddie the dog. Her RV is picnic themed. I like her swinging bench, although I didn’t order myself one.

Maddie's picnic themed RV.There’s a new Nintendo Zone DLC, so I went to a “Nintendo Zone” and asked for the new item. Pelly gave me the barbecue bed, which was originally part of the 7/11 set released in Japan.

Pelly: Sorry to keep you waiting! I hope you enjoy your new barbecue bed!As you might expect, it can not be ordered from the catalog.

Barbecue bed DLC: Not for sale.

My latest dream visitors have been Rose from NanuΓ©l and Chloe from Melody. Thanks for stopping by! I plan on participating in Toy Day on Christmas Eve, so check back on Saturday for another entry! Hope to see you then!

UPDATE: The Hamlet story has a happy ending after all! Bunny from Tiger contacted me in the comments and agreed to take him. πŸ™‚ So I opened up Forest and she came over to adopt him. I’m glad to see he ended up in a good home. Enjoy your new friend, Bunny! πŸ™‚

  1. Hiya Jeff, I’ve been a long time fan of the blog. At some point a year or two ago I lost motivation to play ACNL. I remember playing with Mayor Beth of Appleby a year ago.

I recently got back into it due to the update and wondered if you were still playing it, so here I am. It’s cool seeing the blog still running! Happy Holidays and heres to more ACNL in the future!

    1. Yeah, the update has brought some life back to the game (and the community). Thanks for the comment and happy holidays! I hope you’ll stop by again! πŸ™‚

    2. Hey, this really has nothing to do with the article, but how would I add a house to my HH showcase? Can I choose to add your house? There’s a piece in your home that is love to have. Thank you. Sorry for the inconvenience.

      1. You would need to StreetPass another New Leaf player to get a home in your showcase. Nintendo used to send out homes via SpotPass too, but they stopped that a while back.

  2. That hanging chair is awesome! I’ve wanted one in real life for years πŸ˜› Sorry you couldn’t get hold of anyone, but at least Hamlet went to a good home in the end!

  3. Hey Jeff, I’m so sorry I couldn’t reach you. My dog died today after someone gave him poisoned food and I was with him in the vet all day until he passed away. I’m sorry πŸ™

    1. I’m really sorry about your dog I used to have 3 dogs but 1 passed away I won’t ask questions cause you will fell worse

          1. Also it appears that Emma wants the sofa lol if it’s not too much to ask, can you please get another one for my friend?

              1. Oh ok, I saw Hamlet’s house site today πŸ™‚ my little Christmas hamster lol πŸ˜› you are welcome to visit him any time πŸ™‚

  4. Im sorry (again) that I forgot about Hamlet. If I hadn’t moved Julian, he’d be in my town. Well, just to show that you gotta remind yourself! At least I have Cranston moving away tomorrow…

    1. No problem at all. You asked before I knew when he’d be moving, so that’s not the same thing. And you kept me informed anyway, so you’re good. πŸ™‚
