Barbecue Bed DLC & Hamlet’s Goodbye

Yesterday was the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year. In New Leaf, that means the sun doesn’t come out at all the entire day! But it was already after midnight by the time I played, so I didn’t even get to see Isabelle at the event plaza. The four-person face-cutout standee was still up, though.

The winter solstice face-cutout standee and a bare town tree at night.Lily asked me if I enjoyed the winter solstice. I didn’t tell her I missed the event, but thanks for caring, Lily!

Lily: Hi, Jeff! Did you enjoy the Winter Solstice, zzrrbbiitt?Next, I grabbed my Welcome Amiibo cards and scanned the Vivian card. I then headed over to the drive-in campground to check out her RV.

Vivian's RV at the drive-in campground in Animal Crossing: New Leaf. The most interesting item (to me, at least) was the hanging chair. I ordered one for my house.

Hanging chair: 3 MEOW coupons. And then today, Hamlet was all packed up and ready to move out of town. I made sure to say goodbye to the little guy. He sure has a lot of boxes!

Hamlet: Heh heh! As you can probably tell by looking, I'm moving out!I dropped off a Cinnamoroll sofa at Bunny’s town Tiger this evening. Her friend Emma also stopped by while I was there. Hope you enjoy the sofa, Bunny!

I tried getting ahold of Alex (and later Elliott), who had asked about adopting Hamlet, but I got no response. After four hours of waiting (in total), I gave up. In the future, please don’t ask me about a villager unless you’re serious about adopting them and you’re going to be around on the date of the move. (Unless something comes up, in which case you should let me know so I can find someone else instead of waiting all night).

I scanned another of my Amiibo cards, this one featuring Maddie the dog. Her RV is picnic themed. I like her swinging bench, although I didn’t order myself one.

Maddie's picnic themed RV.There’s a new Nintendo Zone DLC, so I went to a “Nintendo Zone” and asked for the new item. Pelly gave me the barbecue bed, which was originally part of the 7/11 set released in Japan.

Pelly: Sorry to keep you waiting! I hope you enjoy your new barbecue bed!As you might expect, it can not be ordered from the catalog.

Barbecue bed DLC: Not for sale.

My latest dream visitors have been Rose from NanuΓ©l and Chloe from Melody. Thanks for stopping by! I plan on participating in Toy Day on Christmas Eve, so check back on Saturday for another entry! Hope to see you then!

UPDATE: The Hamlet story has a happy ending after all! Bunny from Tiger contacted me in the comments and agreed to take him. πŸ™‚ So I opened up Forest and she came over to adopt him. I’m glad to see he ended up in a good home. Enjoy your new friend, Bunny! πŸ™‚

My First Pack of Welcome Amiibo Cards

Yesterday, I got my first pack of Welcome Amiibo cards. Inside, I found Vivian, Paolo, Maddie, Boyd, Boots, and Leopold.

My first pack of Animal Crossing: New Leaf Welcome Amiibo cards: Vivian, Paolo, Maddie, Boyd, Boots, and Leopold.Boots looks unusually cute for a gator, but I decided to scan the Leopold card first, since I’m familiar with him from the GameCube game. In fact, he currently lives in both of my current GameCube towns.

His RV is set up like a mobile classroom, although the touch screen said the only subject he wants to teach is P.E. (physical education).

Leopold's RV, which features a mobile classroom.Beth invited me over to see Huck’s RV too. Huck is also one of the returning villagers unlocked with Welcome Amiibo cards. I like the coffee and snacks he has, but I don’t like him very much as a character.

I received a letter in the mail from Nintendo recently. To honor my escape from the desert island (in the Desert Island Escape mini-game, of course), they awarded me with on ocean-horizon wall. This is what it looks like.

The ocean horizon wall in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.I found Agent S on the bridge, crying because a disco ball said she wasn’t sparkly. Are you off your meds again?

Agent S: So this disco ball totally insulted me last night, dumpling. It said... I wasn't sparkly at all!
Those disco balls need to stop insulting other people and take a good look in the mirror.

I built a new snowmam, and I really like how this photo turned out for some reason.

A snowmam below a lemon tree below the moon.I’m not sure why I did this the other day, but I’ve got my villagers calling me sandwich now.

Pashmina: Can I call you sandwich too?
This nickname makes me feel sub-human.

Today, Rolf asked me for some new furniture. I surprised him by giving him a burger meal I ordered from the campground. Delicious! He thanked me by giving me an hourglass. I don’t have time for this…

Rolf: Oh! A burger meal!

I scanned my Boots card today, and then I headed over to the campground to take a look inside his RV:

The inside of Boots' RV camper in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

The trellis in his RV is cool, but it’s the tall garden rock that caught my attention. These rocks were in the GameCube game, and I used them in perhaps my best room ever: My Mouth of Truth shrine in my 2007 house tour video.

Tall garden rock: 3 MEOW coupons.I may invite Boots to move into Forest at some point, but it won’t be this week.

I got a couple of new Toy Day hints tonight, but I still have a long way to go. Hopefully I can get all the clues I need before Toy Day comes.

Bob: Anyway, I'm really hoping my present this year is green.

My recent dream visitors have been Caleb from Yurtvill, Zachary from Fantasia, Mara from Aurora, Kiki from TuffTown, and Pluto from Gryffin. Thanks for stopping by!

One other note: Sabrina’s Zelda-themed dream town of Termina is back online! See my updated Dream Suite Adventure for more information. See you all next time!

White Festive Tree DLC

When I started up the game today, I was surprised to find Pete outside my door. He gave me a letter from Nintendo: It contained the white festive tree DLC item! For a while, I was afraid this might be exclusive to Japan, but America has now received it as well. Yay! πŸ˜€

The white festive tree DLC.Pete thanked me for using SpotPass, and he gave me 15 MEOW coupons that were included with the letter.

Pete: Oh yes, there was a MEOW Coupon or two with your maiil today. Well, precisely 15 of them, actually. As you might expect, the white festive tree can not be ordered from the catalog.

White festive tree DLC: Not for sale.By the way, thanks to Beth for picking up a Santa’s coat for me. My Santa look is now complete. As she visited to shop, I spotted an igloo at the campsite. I believe this is my first one of the season.

An illuminated igloo at the campsite.Apollo the eagle was camping inside. For some reason, he seemed to be flexing his wings for me.

Apollo, flexing his wings: But now that I'm hooked, I just can't help myself!Lily asked me for an ocean fish, so I went seaward (when I was good and ready) and caught a sea bass for her.

Santa Jeff fishing in the ocean as a sleeping Gulliver naps nearby.
I did not wake the sleeping sailor.

I immediately took the fish back to Lily, and she seemed a bit too excited for it.

Lily: Hey! A sea bass! Thanks for bringing me one. It's even more amazing than I imagined!
Really???

She then gave me a splendid tee for my trouble. Not the greatest reward, but then again, a sea bass isn’t the greatest fish either.

My recent dream visitors have been Antique from Garden and Jack from Una. Also, Rolf mentioned a dreamer named PooBinGo from Poopsvil.

Rolf: That reminds me! I recently had a dream involving PooBinGo from over in Poopsvil. On that pleasant note, I’ll wrap up this entry. Thank you all for visiting, and have a great weekend! See you next time! πŸ™‚
