Zodiac Dragon

Last night was New Year’s Eve, and Inkwell told me he was looking forward to the countdown. Especially since he normally counts up with his exercise reps. 😛

Inkwell: Today is Countdown! I usually count UP with reps and sets and stuff, so today will be fun, in the sea!

Over at the event plaza, Isabelle gave me some sparkling cider, and I bought a New Year’s hat from Crazy Redd.

Standing at the plaza, awaiting the final countdown to the new year 2024.

At midnight, the new year began…and so did the fireworks. Happy 2024, everyone! 🎆

Fireworks mark the beginning of the new year.

My favorite part of the New Year’s fireworks is the year fireworks that shoot up every five minutes. I took screenshots at several spots around town. 🙂

I also noticed that you can sit by the town tree and view your town’s history with the fireworks in the background.

Today, Isabelle was at the event plaza again. This time, she was handing out a zodiac dragon.

Isabelle: Aren't dragons so cool? I decided to rekindle my geeky side this year, so I got some dragon decorations.

While I was at the plaza, I stuck my face into the holiday standee.

The special holiday face-cutout standee for New Year's Day.

I took the zodiac dragon home to take a look at it. Pretty cool! 🐉

And of course, my villagers wished me a Happy New Year. 🙂

Mira: So...allow me to formally wish you... a happy New Year!
Cube: Happy New Year, muscles! Last year was great! I ate, I slept, and I partied like crazy!

According to Luna, Lamir from Lamiered was my most recent dream visitor. Thanks for stopping by!

I hope you all have a great 2024! I hope you’ll all return throughout the year for more Animal Crossing content, because you know I Never Stop Crossing. 🙂

See you again soon! 🙂

Between Holidays

On December 18th, I saw the northern lights up in the sky as I played to collect more Toy Day hints.

The northern lights shine in the sky above a decorated cedar tree.

Inkwell told me he wanted something orange for Toy Day.

Inkwell: This year I'm hoping my Toy Day present is orange!
You want yourself?

Two days later, Inkwell asked me for a piece of fruit. I gave him a perfect peach, and he gave me a computer in return! A new computer for a piece of fruit?? Why can’t we ever make trades like that in real life? 😉

Inkwell: Thanks for finding the fruit for me! I'd like you to have a reward--my computer.

I was (eventually) able to collect 19 of the 20 possible Toy Day hints. I figured that should be enough. So when the 24th (Toy Day) rolled around, I felt like I was ready for the challenge.

Jingle: Happy holidays! I'm Jingle, the black-nosed reindeer! Isn't this the best time of the year, kid?

He gave me the Santa bag to use, to start delivering gifts to all my villagers.

Boots: Holy holiday hamstrings! It's a present! I'm gonna open it!

I got a bit of a scare when Inkwell said this:

Inkwell: I didn't think I was gonna get what I wanted! But I did!
You had me in the first half, not gonna lie.

*Slippy Toad voice* I was worried for a moment. But it all ended up correct. Whew!

Jingle: Let's see... Yup, yup! You've indeed delivered everything perfectly, kid!

Here’s a list of what my villagers wanted, and what I gave them:

  • Aurora: blue toy (elephant slide)
  • Boots: white rug (birch flooring)
  • Cube: colorful umbrella (gelato umbrella)
  • Hornsby: red clothes (red warm-up suit)
  • Inkwell: orange furniture (grapefruit table)
  • Jeremiah: red lamp (polka-dot lamp)
  • Lolly: a white lamp (minimalist lamp)
  • Mira: yellow furniture (lemon table)
  • Molly: red furniture (juicy-apple clock)
  • Rolf: something orange (kitschy tile)

Jingle rewarded me with a festive wreath for a job well done. 🙂

Jingle: Since you did such a holly-jolly job, I'll give you a special little present. It's a festive wreath!

Today, I received a letter from Jingle, again thanking me for the help on Toy Day. He attached his photo to the letter.

With Christmas over, my villagers’ attention has switched to the upcoming New Year’s Eve countdown. Molly plans to clean up her house for the new year. And to be honest, she probably needs it. It’s a bit crowded in her room! 😛

Molly: I'm cleaning up my house to prepare for the big Countdown! I just can't start a new year with a dirty room.

Cesar the gorilla was camping at the campsite. My town is already full, but I don’t think I would willingly invite any gorilla into my town anyway.

Cesar, at the campsite: Even I think I'm a bit crazy for going camping out of town in this cold weather...

I ran into my old buddy Bob up on Main Street. Nice to see him around again, even if it was just to shop.

Bob: If it isn't Jeff! I came to do some shopping today, pthhpth.

Apparently, no one new has visited the dream version of Forest since my last entry. So I can’t give any shout-outs this time. 😛 But I hope you all had a good holiday, and I hope you have a great New Year’s Eve too! See you next year! 🎆

Winter Things

On Sunday, Soleil the hamster was camping at the campsite. I wasn’t interested in her, but I sure have been having a lot of campers lately!

Soleil: Hey there, I'm Soleil. I'm just in Forest camping for a little while.

I completed the sixth advanced level of Desert Island Escape, and then I received another gift in the mail today. Nintendo sent me…a frying pan? Weird reward, but ok.

Showing off my new frying pan, a reward for playing Desert Island Escape.

Snow now covers the ground in Forest, and I have replaced my usual green brick paths with the ice bricks (as I do every winter). The first igloo of the season appeared today!

Standing by my first igloo of the season.

Henry the frog was inside…and again, I wasn’t interested. But I like how campers seem to be more frequent in this game as opposed to New Horizons.

Henry: Hi there! I'm just in town visiting! My name is Henry! I'm here to enjoy a little winter camping.

I rolled up a couple of snowballs to make my first snowperson of the year. I tried to make a snowmam, and I did. She was perfect! 🙂

Snowmam: This balance... I'm perfect!

I gave her six snowflakes for two pieces of ice furniture, an ice dresser and an ice vanity. They sold for 8,888 bells apiece. Exchanging snowflakes for ice furniture is a great way to make bells this time of year!

Cube asked me to catch a bagworm for him, so I went around town several times until I found one.

Cube: Awesome! I can't believe you actually caught one of these for me, on Toy Day!

He rewarded me with a reggae tank. Still no photo, though.

I’m still trying to collect Toy Day clues from my villagers, and I got a couple more of them today.

Lolly: I plan on asking Jingle for a nice lamp this year.

Here’s what they want so far:

  • Aurora: a toy
  • Cube: an umbrella
  • Lolly: a white lamp
  • Mira: furniture (real helpful there, Mira)

According to Luna, Teren from DalyCity was my most recent dream visitor. Thanks for stopping by!

Even though this is the 2nd entry of December, there may be one more. I plan to play on Christmas Eve, even if the entry isn’t posted that night. But it should be up by the end of the month. Happy holidays, everyone!
