Day 281

Last night, I went to Mark’s town to let him catalog a sleek side table. He thanked me by giving me a famous mushroom.

I become a giant while in Mark's town of Topiary. We actually disconnected though, so he reopened his gate and I returned to let him catalog the item again. He gave me the mushroom again, but this time I held onto it.

Today, I got a letter from Gulliver in the mail. He sent me the Mouth of Truth! Molly wasted no time in asking me for it.

Molly: Would you be willing to part with said Mouth of Truth? She offered me a dharma in exchange. Ha!

Molly: You could have my dharma in return! How about it? Will you trade?
HahaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. No.

I spoke with my snowman and he rolled a number 30 for me. Bingo!

Snowman: BINGOOOOO!He gave me a ski-slope floor.

The ski-slope floor.I built another snowman to get a new bingo card and then headed to Tom’s town. His friends Noah and Joanne were there. Tom’s instrument shelter said the weather was going to stay nice, but it was clearly raining beans.

Instrument shelter: Looks like the weather's going to stay nice! But what good are beans without a giant to climb the beanstalk? Err…or something like that.

Me turning into a giant.A bit later, Kim had some bingo numbers I needed, so I headed to her town. She pointed out that I had a tan! I hadn’t even realized it, but all this island-hopping lately has changed my skin color. Kim and I waited for a bus that never came.

Kim and Jeff waiting at the bus stop. Not many people install a bus stop, so I think this was my first time seeing one in person. I explored her town and I also took a look at her museum exhibits. This gyroid room was quite impressive.

Kim's gyroid collection. She’s also working on a balloon collection.

Kim's balloon collection. When I returned to Forest, I saw there was a meteor shower. So I wished on a shooting star.

Wishing on a shooting star.I went up to Main Street, and Luna told me that Ethan from Canada was my most recent dream visitor. And I put my Mouth of Truth in my World Wonders exhibit at the museum.

My World Wonders museum exhibit.I also used a QR code for my trophy room that LemonBunch sent me. You can get the trophy code on the QR Codes page.

Trophy Room exhibit by Jeff.I also did some island hopping. I went on a couple of tours with Izzy, and later I found an island with two other people (besides myself). It’s pretty rare to have three people on a Club Tortimer island, but we did a couple of tours.

Unfortunately, while on a scavenger hunt tour, Isabella was away for a couple of minutes. But the worst part was that she was standing in the doorway of a house. Courtz’ last item and my last item were both in that house, so we failed that tour quite miserably.

Isabella blocking the doorway. On another island, I met my first Club Tortimer beggar. It was Linzy, and she asked me for bells! I asked how many she needed, but she said she didn’t know. She would leave it up to me.

Linzy: I don't know.I gave her 5,000 bells to be nice; she didn’t even thank me. Then she started asking me for my friend code. Uh, no. I quickly left that island and continued on to the next. Eventually, I found the mermaid vanity that I needed! So I now have the full mermaid set!

The complete mermaid furniture set.Barring any problems, my contest for the mermaid set will start tomorrow. So check tomorrow’s blog entry (and/or follow me on Tumblr) for the full rules on how to enter. You’ll be able to enter here on JVGS and also on Tumblr.

Just a reminder that I won’t be opening my gate tomorrow night for Friday Night Forest. I usually skip the first Friday of each month.

Crowded Club LOL

I stopped in Teddy’s house today, and to my surprise, Molly was visiting him as well.

Teddy: Hey, hey! Good timing. Molly stopped by too, oh pooh. When I spoke with Molly, she said she’s into swapping stuff with her neighbors. Like swapping saliva with Teddy? Hmm?

Molly: You know what I'm into lately? Swapping stuff with neighbors! As I started rolling up today’s snowballs, I tried to use the big one to run over Tammy.

Trying to run over Tammy with a large snowball. But then I felt bad, because I didn’t want to break anything. No, I don’t mean Tammy’s bones, I meant I didn’t want to break the snowball.

Anyway, Skye told me that she once went fishing for three hours and didn’t catch a thing. NPC or not, that’s just sad.

Skye: Yes, I am! I'm just not very good at it. I was out there for three hours without catching a thing.I saw a silver slingshot floating by on balloons, and I smiled because I knew I could ignore it now that I have the gold balloon badge.

A silver slingshot floats by on two balloons.Copper indirectly informed me that Gulliver was on the beach, so I headed down there. His clues made it obvious that he was talking about Italy.

Gulliver: All right, so the country I wanted to visit is very long and sort of shaped like a boot! Just like I wear!He even made a Mario reference. He’ll be sending me a gift from Italy in the mail tomorrow.

Gulliver: Thanks to you, I'll be able to eat plates and plates of delicious Italian pasta, just like that plumber guy!I knew that I still needed two diving catches, and I knew that one of them was still out of season. But I had no idea what the other one was, or whether it was in-season or not. But I decided to do a little diving anyway, just in case. And that decision paid off, because I caught my first horsehair crab!

I got a horsehair crab! Because I combed the ocean floor!I headed over to Tom’s town to collect a couple of bingo numbers, and I now have a quintuple ding. Even though the snowmen won’t acknowledge anything more than a triple ding, it means I’m one number away from a bingo in five different ways. So hopefully I’ll bingo again sometime soon.

Snowman: I'm so glad you stopped to chat!Tom’s penguin Roald looked like he was all dressed up!

Roald: Heya! Jeff! You're here, b-b-buddy!Tom’s friends Gabi and Ronald also came to Tomville, and we danced up at Club LOL. It was quite crowded in there!

Four humans and four animals in Club LOL.Hazel scares me.

Hazel: This huge sound... It stirs up my animal blood! Uni-wow!We got disconnected, and Tom was finished after that. Back in Forest, Luna and Teddy both mentioned my most recent dream visitor, Rydelle from Arendele.

Teddy: Rydelle from Arendele appeared in my dream recently.I found a lost item on the ground, and began asking my villagers if they recognized it. Eventually, I was able to reunite the item with its owner, Rolf. He rewarded me with an apple.

Rolf: I gotta thank you, so here. Take my apple with you as a thank-you. Tiger!I ran into Teddy again, and he was acting a bit strange…

Teddy: First kisses taste like peach! But I did ask him not to kiss me again.

My island gift shop had the rare cabana flooring today. I went on a few firefly tours to earn some medals and then I bought it. I also posted on Twitter and Tumblr, offering to let people come and buy it if they needed it. Taylor took me up on the offer and came over for it. I plan on doing some island hopping later tonight, so there’s still a chance my contest could start in the next day or two.

Badge Update

Late last night, I made a quick dream visit to Anville, which is Olivia’s town. She has changed things up since the last time I visited. I didn’t stay long, so I wasn’t really taking pictures, but I did take one. I noticed that she has two bridges close to each other. It actually looked nice being able to see the next bridge up the river.

Two bridges in Anville. The town is quite nice, and the dream address is 6900-2923-1084 if you want to visit it.

Today, I got a letter in the mail from the snowboy; he sent me this snowman bed. Even if it looks more like a snowman coffin.

The snowman bed.Big Top tried to tell me he was moving out of town on February 9th, but I quickly convinced him that he was mistaken. I went to Tom’s town to get a bingo number, and he glitched onto/into his bench. He threw at beans at me as I sat there.

Tom throwing beans at me.I was tempted to collect the beans and get a stew going, but I didn’t. Tom saved the game, and then he died.

Tom passes out on a bench.A couple of his friends came over to visit, but Tom purposely disconnected when he discovered one of them took some perfect oranges without asking. Back in Forest, I saw an igloo at the campsite and I found Flo the penguin inside. Thankfully, she didn’t try to sell me car insurance.

Flo: Hey! You're from Forest, right? Nice to meet you! I'm Flo!As I was watering flowers, I spotted Phineas! I had no idea what to expect, but he gave me the Balloon Master badge! That’s the gold one, which means I no longer have to waste my time shooting down any more useless balloons! Woohoo!

I got the Balloon Master badge! This makes me an elite balloon hunter! To my surprise, he actually had a second badge for me too! This time, he gave me the Catalog Maniac Silver badge for collecting over 50% of the items in the game.

I got the Catalog Maniac Silver badge! It seems like I've got a TON of stuff listed in my catalog! This seems like a good time to post my updated badge screen, so here it is:

My badge collection as of February 4th, 2014.I rolled up today’s snowballs to make a snowboy, but he wasn’t perfect today. Just to remind you all, the snow on the ground will be gone on February 25th. So you have three weeks left to collect items from the snowman, snowmam, snowboy, and snowtyke. I have a shot at finishing them all up, but it’s not a sure thing.

Anyway, I went up to the Dream Suite and saw that my most recent dream visitor was Biarna from Naralda. When I was done shopping, I went down to the dock to begin my island hopping for the evening. I met a few nice people, including Marysol and Alexa, who is shown here.

Me and Alexa on a Club Tortimer island.I was able to find one new piece of each set (mermaid and cabana). Now I have 12/13 mermaid items and 9/13 cabana items. However, I have used up almost all of my medals. So I’ll need to do some more tours tomorrow to earn more before I go island hopping for the remaining items.

When I was done touring, I returned to Forest and saw the northern lights in the sky above.

The northern lights as seen from my dock.
