Bug Island

I went to the bug island with the intention of playing Stitch’s game. But when I talked to him, he told me that he found a rare bug. Sure enough, it was Beedle’s horned colossus beetle. But he wouldn’t just give it back, he was going to make me earn it. He would choose ten bugs and I would have to catch all ten within three minutes. If I could do that, he would give me Beedle’s beetle back.

Stitch: If you do it, I'll give the beetle back.It took me a number of tries, but I did accomplish my goal eventually. As promised, he gave me the beetle.

Obtaining Beedle's insect cage.I returned it to Beedle and he gave me five gratitude crystals. He also generously offered to sell me any item at half price. But he has no items for sale! Wow, what a reward!

Beedle: To thank you, you can choose any item here and pay just half price!I then returned to the bug island to play Stitch’s bug-catching game the normal way. Because of all the practice I already had doing it earlier, I had a much easier time of it. On the beginner course, I had a time of 1:35.89. However, my award was 5 Deku hornets.

Obtaining 5 Deku hornets.Seems like an odd prize, and it didn’t help me anyway since I already had the maximum number (99) of hornets I could carry. But he reminded me that the “Bug Wrangler” game is basically the main event. So I did the Bug Wrangler game and finished with a time of 1:33.53. My reward was five Faron grasshoppers. Say what?

Obtaining five Faron grasshoppers.I was expecting a better prize…like a piece of heart or a gold rupee or something. Very disappointing. But still, it’s one less thing on my list. Speaking of which, here is my updated to-do list.

  • Win the game on Fun Fun Island
  • Earn more gratitude crystals and turn Batreaux into a human
  • Consider getting the best shield from the Thunder Dragon
  • Complete any other side-quests that pop up
