Jeff's Tomodachi Life Blog

This blog describes my crazy adventures in Tomodachi Life, a bizarre simulation game for Nintendo 3DS. It is available now. Check out my Tomodachi Life review, scan QR codes, or buy Tomodachi Life at Amazon.

Entry 3: The First Couple

I had my mind on the PlayStation game Xenogears lately, so I decided to try making an Elly Mii from that game. It's not an exact replica of her, but there's only so much you can do with a Mii sometimes.

Her presence meant that the island population has reached ten. And any noteworthy event always gets a newsflash.

I obtained a fan and I gave it to Elly. She turned it on and just started staring into it. I could control the speed of the fan, and Elly would make puns such as "my mind is blown" and "I joined the fan club!"

I was able to level-up Miss Piggy, so I chose to give her a song. That's right, Miss Piggy is going to sing some heavy metal!

I unlocked a mini-game called Quirky Questions, which is an event that's held at the observation tower. There are some preset questions with blanks in them. For example, "Who is scared of _________?" You can press a button to get random words that fill in the blanks. When you have questions you like, you can then ask those questions to some of your Miis. Apparently, Mr. Bean, Alien, and Darth Vader need flakes to be happy. I'm not entirely sure what means, but I'm almost afraid to ask.

Meanwhile, Lindsay had a literal raincloud hanging over her head. She said her stomach hurt. I thought maybe she was hungry (her stomach was empty after all), so I tried giving her some food. But she wasn't in the mood to eat. Fortunately, I had some stomach medicine in my possession, so I gave it to her and she started feeling better.

No day of Tomodachi Life is complete without Tobias, so I checked in on him and leveled him up. With each level-up, you can unlock something new. But Tobias craves to be on stage, so I taught him a pop song. I wanted to write him a funny song about being blue, but the pop song is far too cheery for that. But still, he loved the attention.

While at the concert hall, I saw an option to change his clothes right there without having to return home. I happened to like the description for his shirt.

I went to check on Zoidberg, and he told me he has feelings for Miss Piggy! Her?

He asked me for advice on how he should let her know. I told him the perfect thing to say.

She fell for it said yes!

Wolf Bobs Island has its first love connection! Zoidberg was ecstatic afterwards.

A newsflash then informed me that Leisure Island, an amusement park, has opened up!

Unfortunately, I couldn't do much there yet. I was able to buy a grab bag of three random items at the night market, and that was it. But the amusement park, much like many other public locations around the island, has different events at various times of day. You can check the event schedule to see what times to attend. For example, the amusement park has a magic show from 10-11 a.m., Tomodachi Quest from 2:30-4:30 p.m., and so on.

After checking back with Zoidberg, I leveled him up and had him sing a ballad. Was he out of his element? Maybe.

Later on, I obtained a kaleidoscope and I gave it to Elly. You can move your 3DS around (or move the stylus across the touch screen) to change what you see. Your Miis will be featured, and playing with it made Elly dizzy.

And before I wrapped up my night, I gave my Jeff Mii a new interior for his apartment. This is the monochrome interior, which reminds me a bit of the modern furniture in Animal Crossing. Or playing Tetris in black-and-white.

See you all next time!
