Animal Crossing: City Folk Harvest Festival Guide

Tortimer: Now all we have to do is wait for the main dish--I mean, guest!

About the Harvest Festival

The Harvest Festival is a holiday event in Animal Crossing: City Folk, based on Thanksgiving (informally known as Turkey Day). Mayor Tortimer will be standing outside of town hall, near several banquet tables with plates, cups, fruit, and drinks. Tortimer is waiting for the feast to begin, but the main course is missing! Of course, that main course is Franklin the turkey! Where could he be?

When Is the Harvest Festival?

The Harvest Festival takes place on Thanksgiving Day (in the U.S.), which is the 4th Thursday of November. The date varies each year, so check the date chart below. The event starts at 3 p.m. and lasts until 9 p.m.

How It Works

When you speak with Tortimer outside of town hall, he will give you a knife and fork.

Tortimer: You know, if you want to do the Harvest Festival right, you need a knife and fork, sprout!

Tortimer asks you to deliver the knife and fork to a villager in town. But if you want to help Franklin (and you do), take the silverware to Franklin instead. He will be hiding somewhere in town: Perhaps behind a tree, a building, or even a sign post. Once you find him, he may be scared initially.

Franklin: Don't eat me!

But once you give him your knife and fork, he will be grateful to get the silverware out of circulation...making the town a safer place for him. He will then reward you with a piece of harvest furniture.

Getting Hints

If you're having trouble finding Franklin, you can take the knife and fork to a villager instead. They will give you a hint as to Franklin's location. But since the acres of the map aren't labeled like they are on GameCube, villagers may instead tell you whose house Franklin is near.

Mint: A strange visitor was seen poking around Robin's house.
It's a hint from Mint.

But when you use a hint, you then have to return to Tortimer (outside of town hall) to get another knife and fork. (The hints aren't free in this game!) This creates extra work, so it's usually best to find Franklin on your own unless you're particularly stuck.

Less Stress

Compared to the chaos of the Halloween festivities, the Harvest Festival is a fairly stress-free event (although Franklin would certainly disagree). There's no one chasing you, no candy to keep track of, and nobody will destroy any of your items like they can on Halloween. And you don't need to worry about outfit changes like you do with Jingle on Christmas Eve. Just relax and have a good time!

Harvest Furniture

There are ten furniture items, one rug, and one wallpaper you can obtain during the Harvest Festival. Unfortunately, Franklin can give you duplicate items, so you'll need to find him more than 12 times to complete the set. Here is a list of all the items you can obtain. Unfortunately, Tom Nook pays just 3,333 bells for each furniture piece, and just 1,200 bells for the carpet or wallpaper. This event is far less lucrative than the other major holidays (Halloween, Christmas Eve, Festivale, and Bunny Day).

And if you end up with a leftover knife and fork, you can sell it for 100 bells.

Good Luck!

Good luck with Franklin, no matter which Animal Crossing game you may be playing this Turkey Day. And Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate!
