Winter Solstice 2014

Today is the winter solstice, the longest night (and shortest day) of the year. In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, this fact is taken to the extreme: The sun doesn’t come out at all! Here’s a look at Forest shortly before noon today:

A clear, dark sky at noon!I also noticed that more of the trees have Christmas lights now. Only one of these two trees had lights when the lights first appeared last Monday.

Joan: The asking price is 106 bells per turnip. What do you think, kiddo?Once evening came around, Molly informed me of something that was painfully obvious by now: The sun won’t be coming up today.

Molly: Merry Duckmas! It's the Winter Solstice, so the sun won't be coming up today.I tried to make a perfect snowmam, but I guess I didn’t make the base the right size. I ended up with a snowtyke instead. He was looking for his brother and father, but I have no use for him. Sorry, little guy!

Snowtyke: My dad and big brother aren't anywhere in this town.Isabelle was at the event plaza to celebrate the winter solstice. She was one chilly dog.

Isabelle: Hello, Mayor! Today is the Winter Solstice! It's so chilly today! She gave me a glow wand so that I could find my way around in the dark. Unfortunately, it doesn’t really work that way. But it does look pretty cool.

The glow wand that Isabelle gave me.I also stuck my face into the holiday standee. I’m the snowman that’s hanging out with the three headless people.

Remember, there’s only a few days left to get your Toy Day hints from your villagers. Are you ready for Christmas Eve? I’ll see you all next time. 🙂
