Summer Solstice

Today is the summer solstice–the longest day of the year. In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, the daylight lasts all day (and night) long!

Isabelle: Hello, Mayor! Today is the Summer Solstice, so don't expect to see the moon at all tonight!
Video game logic.

More than anything else, the presence of fireflies really showcases how odd the night sun really is. The fireflies just seem so out of place.

Catching a firefly in broad daylight.

I made a trip to Arrested, where Michael/Beth and I used the special standee to stick our faces through a flower and the sun.

Michael and Jeff using the face-cutout standee for the summer solstice.Arrested resident RenΓ©e asked me why I was visiting another town in the middle of the night.

Renee: Jeff?! Who visits another town in the middle of the night...? Apparently you do, yo yo yo!
Why not? The daylight isn’t suspicious.

When I returned to Forest, Agent S told me how much she loved my eel. She must have seen the outline of it wriggling around in my pockets and thought “I want that!” She gave me 2,000 bells for it.

Agent S: Woohoo! I totally love your eel. What's your price? After picking up my ladder shades from Isabelle at the event plaza, I realized I didn’t mention where Julian moved in last time. He lives next to Hamlet in the southern part of town. This area was never very populated when Peck lived here. Coincidence? I think not.

Speaking of Julian, I had a medieval chat with him tonight.

Julian: Good eventide, Jeff! Finding the Summer Solstice to your liking, milord?Julian: ...OK, enough of that. I indulge in a little medieval talk once a year. Just to get it out of my system.Aurora told me she was going to move away on June 26th, but I quickly changed her mind for her.

Up at Able Sisters, I made a new Cavs pattern: It’s the CLE design from their “blackout” T-shirts.

My most recent dream visitor was Marie from Dragolin. Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you next time!

Calves and Cavs

The Bug-Off competition was held on Saturday, but I didn’t play in time to participate…or even attend the ceremony. So the ceremony was cancelled. Sorry, Bob.

Bob: The awards ceremony got canceled. That's too bad, but I guess everyone was just too busy.Over by town hall, Hamlet complimented me on my calves…as my Cavs flag was visible in the corner of the picture I took.

Hamlet: Whoa! Those calves of yours are really shaping up! You've been training hard, haven't you?
Calves or Cavs?

Yesterday, I found a new house plot in town. And today, I went in to greet my newest neighbor, Julian the unicorn. He moved in from Key West, which is Mike’s town. I bet Mike didn’t realize Julian was a stowaway on the train he rode into Forest on Friday night.

Julian: My name is Julian! I actually just moved from Key West today, glitter. It’s Father’s Day, and I got a letter from Mom about the occasion. She also sent some red carnations with the letter.

Jeff, If things get tough, you can always come home. Your dad's too old fashioned to say it himself. It's Father's Day! -MomI picked up some New Leaf StreetPass hits today…six of them, in fact. It’s quite rare for me to get this many at once!

Digby: Some home construction has also recently taken place, so be sure to go have a look!Copper told me Phineas was in town, and that is always exciting news. I was wondering if I had finally earned the bug-catching or the fish-catching badge. Or maybe even both? But it wasn’t either of those. Instead, I earned the StreetPass Expert badge. Even though the word expert sounds like it must be a gold medal, it’s actually the silver one.

I got the StreetPass Expert badge! I'd like to thank all of the people I've tagged up until now!Apparently, that means I’ve had 300 New Leaf StreetPass tags, and I would need 700 more (a total of 1,000) for the gold one. Considering it’s taken me three years to reach 300, it’s quite likely that I will never receive the gold. But I’m okay with that.

Here’s an updated look at my badges. I now have at least silver for each one!

My badge collection as of June 19, 2016.

Tonight, the Cleveland Cavaliers won the NBA championship! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ So I added a trophy to my Cavs room. I used the HHA trophy as opposed to the fish or bug trophy. A fish and a bug don’t seem to fit the occasion as much as the HHA house. Why? Because the house represents a home. My hometown. Cleveland. The Forest City.

Congrats, Cavs!

My recent dream visitors have been Ellie from St. Annes, Claire from Chepstow, and Muriel from Brixham.

Thank you for visiting, and have a wonderful night.

Disconnect Four

At 10:00 tonight, I opened my gate for Friday Night Forest. Beth, Squishy, and Mike came over…but it didn’t last. We got disconnected immediately. I reopened, and the same thing happened again with Beth, Merka, and Squishy.

Eventually Mike, Beth, and Squishy arrived and things seemed okay (for a couple of minutes, at least).

Squishy, Jeff, Beth, and Mike.I went to identify some fossils at the museum, and I asked them to join me. I offered them some villager pictures, and Mike said he would take Big Top’s pic. I couldn’t pick up the pic while everyone was over, but another disconnection made sure I didn’t have to wait long.

Before reopening, I took the Big Top picture over to Mike’s town so we didn’t risk losing it in another disconnection.

But once I reopened again, the same pattern resumed. For whatever reason, we would get disconnected every time we got a fourth person. At best, we’d last 2-3 minutes at a time. At 10:35, I decided to open for the very last time. Once everyone joined in, I had them join me for some tree stump glitching.

The four of us standing in one spot.
We became an octopus.

We started using some emotions, and we had a few minutes of fun, at least.

Sad purple clouds of emotion. But of course, it didn’t last long. After one final disconnection, I gave up and left my gate closed for the night. Sorry to everyone who came, but it was frustrating with all of the disconnections. This is as bad as I’ve seen it. Hopefully next month will be better.

Up at the Dream Suite, Luna told me that Kariya from Animal was my most recent dream visitor.

As I did a little fishing and bug-catching, Hamlet asked me for some furniture. So I gave him something I already had in my pockets–a firefly! At first, I thought he was about to get mad.

Hamlet: Is this... Are you really giving me a firefly? But then he talked about how cool it was! He said he’s going to train it, and it’ll be the world’s most athletic bug. Good luck with that, little guy. He rewarded me with a sleek lamp.

I had a museum model that I ordered for Lillian, so I headed over to her town Skyridge to drop it off. I hope you enjoy it, Lillian!

Lillian and Jeff. After that, I wrapped up my night.

Thank you for stopping by the blog, and I’ll see you next time! Have a good weekend!
