The Adventure Starts Today

The rain recently has put a damper on things, including villagers’ moods.

Rolf: Whenever the skies aren't clear, my mood gets a little rainy too, at death.

Lolly even told me that the rain has made her feet soaked and wrinkly…among other things.

Lolly: All the walking I've been doing today has my feet all soaked and wrinkly, if I poop!
This is too much information.

Rolf asked me for an orange yesterday, so I found one for him. He loved it, and he rewarded me with a paper wall lamp.

Rolf: I am completely satisfied right now! At death!

I shot down a balloon present in the rain, and it contained a cupid bench. You gotta love that. 💘

A present falls from the sky after I popped the balloon it was flying on.

It’s as if I was shooting Cupid’s arrow, and not just a pebble from my slingshot. Regardless, that perfect shot will set a new bench-mark for slingshot users everywhere. 😛

I found a lost item on the ground, and it took me a while to find its owner. But I did eventually return it to Hornsby. He thanked me by giving me a jungle-camo shirt.

Hornsby: Here's a thank-you gift for your trouble. I hope you like it. It's a jungle-camo shirt!

With all the rain we’ve been having in this rainForest, I’m sure the jungle-camo will blend right in.

Boots asked me for something to replace his yellow butterfly, but I didn’t have any small tabletop furniture for him. So I caught a squid for him instead. He was excited about his new pet, and he said the adventure starts today!

Boots: So the adventure starts today!
He rewarded me with a ranch tea table.

Today, Boots seemed more interested in eating me! 😲

Boots: I'll eat you!! In a swamp! You've got a rosy glow about you. You must be working out!

He asked me to deliver a gift to Molly, who was close nearby. You can even see her in this screenshot:

Boots: I got this gift for Molly, but I'm too shy to deliver it myself... I'm kind of the strong, silent type.

He sent her a round clock, and Molly loved the style. She rewarded me with a sno-cone tank, which I decided to put on for summer.

Molly: It's a sno-cone tank!

Cube wished me a good evening…until he realized it was morning, not evening. Maybe he’s used to seeing me in the evening instead. 😛

Cube: Good evening, cool guy. Wait a sec... It's not evening at all! Let's try that again. Good morning.
Maybe he needed the clock more than Molly did.

He asked me to play a game of hide-and-seek, and he gave me 15 minutes to find him, Molly, and Boots. I found Cube within seconds; he was behind a tree right next to the plaza.

Cube: Darn. I guess you found me. I never thought you'd look here, on Toy Day.
Maybe walk farther than a few feet next time.

Less than a minute later, I also found Molly. She was behind the zen bell, and I had found two of the three hiders in one minute.

Molly tries to hide behind the zen bell.

Three minutes after that, I found Boots behind the Sphinx. If he thought that was a good hiding spot, he must be in de-Nile.

Boots tried to hide behind the Sphinx.

Instead of standing up tall like that, he should have tried lion low.

Cube rewarded me with an exotic table for winning the game. But July is almost here…is anyone excited about peak summer bug season? I know it’s not quite the same in New Leaf, since you go to the island and catch summer bugs year-round… but I think it’s a fun time of year! I always enjoy catching those big valuable bugs!

Summer Solstice 2025

Lolly’s catchphrase has continued to provide some entertaining moments in recent weeks.

Lolly: Big events are great, but I enjoy everyday life too. It gives me the chance to unwind, if I poop.
Lolly: A perfect peach is a rare treat, so keep your eyes peeled for them, if I poop!

Rolf also asked for a new catchphrase last week, so I told him to say “at death.”

Rolf: I'm gonna take it out for a test drive, but I'm pretty sure I just found my new thing, at death!
Rolf: I knew I could count on you! Stay awesome, at death!
That might be hard to do, but I’ll try. 😛

Today was the Summer Solstice, the day of the midnight sun. I played about 10:30 p.m., but as you can see, it was still bright and sunny. I headed over to the event plaza to get my gift from Isabelle…except Isabelle looked a bit different today.

Nat stands near the face-cutout standee for the summer solstice.

The Bug-Off was also held today, so that explains Nat’s appearance at the plaza. But still, where was Isabelle? I was confused. Regardless, I stuck my face in the cutout hole for a photo. 😛

Look, I'm a flower!

But moments later, everything made more sense. I found Isabelle standing outside of town hall!

Isabelle stands outside of town hall for an event.

It felt weird seeing her here for an event! But I spoke with her, and she gave me some ladder shades. 😎

Isabelle: Hello, Mayor! Today is the Summer Solstice! It's also the day of the big Bug-Off! Perfect day for both!

The indoor villagers were talking about the Summer Solstice, and Hornsby wondered if dinner should still be called dinner.

Hornsby: There's no night today, so does it still make sense to call dinner dinner?
Hornsby: I think I'm gonna call it lunch the second! Yeah, that sounds good!

And my outdoor villagers were talking about the Bug-Off. But since I didn’t play between the hours of 6-9 p.m., the awards ceremony was cancelled. Boots and Jeremiah were bummed out about that.

Boots: Aw, barbells! The Bug-Off awards ceremony was canceled!
Jeremiah: I can't believe it! The awards ceremony was canceled.

This may be nitpicky, but this is one small thing I hate about New Leaf. Animal Crossing has always pushed the idea that town life goes on whether you’re playing or not. So to cancel an event just because I didn’t play within a specific three-hour window annoys me. I did see on the bulletin board that Inkwell won the event with a 41-point bug, but there’s no reason to guilt players who missed the ceremony.

Anyway, I put on my ladder shades and posed for one last photo of the night. Have a bright night, everyone! ☀️
