Helpful Goats

As the calendar turns to March, new bugs are available in the world of Animal Crossing. Most notably, the butterflies have returned! While common butterflies like this aren’t worth very much, their presence makes it easier to rack up your total number of bugs caught for badge purposes.

I caught a common butterfly! How could I resist?Yesterday, my old friend Puck was camping out at the campsite. I wouldn’t mind having him around, but my town is full.

Puck: Are you from this town? For a long time, my goats weren’t helping me out with PWP suggestions. That was particularly annoying because that’s why I let them stay here in the first place. But things are getting better lately. Velma and Pashmina each suggested a new PWP in February, and now Velma has suggested another in March: This time, she told Isabelle of her desire for a tower.

Velma: Good. So I think I'm going to tell Isabelle my bright idea. We need a tower!Even though I don’t plan on building the tower, I am trying to unlock all of the PWPs (except for the bridges I don’t have, which can’t be unlocked while I have three bridges already). But here is a look at the tower.

Tower - 726,000 bells.I made a delivery to Dizzy, and he seemed a bit too excited to discover that the item was a trash bin.

Dizzy: Wow! A trash bin!He thanked me for making the delivery and rewarded me with a royal shirt.

Tonight, Velma told me that she was planning on moving out of town on March 8th. Even though I really want to get some fresh blood in this town, I can’t let her go when she’s finally starting to suggest some PWPs for me. Keep it going!

Velma: What I'm trying to say is that I'm moving away from Forest on the 8th of this month. In the Nintendo Direct today, Nintendo announced that series 4 of the Animal Crossing Amiibo Cards will be released on June 10th. Interesting that they’re announcing Series 4 when the Series 3 Amiibo Cards aren’t even out yet (although you can pre-order them).

They also announced that Isabelle Amiibo figures will be released separately, so you won’t have to buy Animal Crossing: Amiibo Festival to get her.

My recent dream visitors have been Bri from MorganCy, Fingus from Catville, and Peyton from Lonoke. Thanks for stopping by, and I’ll see you next time!

Leap Day

Today is February 29th, also known as Leap Day. This date only comes once every four years, and this is the first Leap Day since New Leaf was released (outside of Japan, at least). As I started up the game, Isabelle told me there wasn’t any Leap Day celebration planned–so she decided to make something up on the spot. She just yelled “Happy Leap Day!”

Isabelle: HAPPY LEAP DAY!That’s all she could come up with.

Isabelle: That's it. Leap day accounted for. See you in four years.

But there was also a message on the bulletin board about it being Leap Day. It was almost identical to the message posted in City Folk.

Today is February 29th, the day that only comes once every four years! Do you feel like you gained a day?

Resetti’s manhole was open again tonight, and I was relieved to see he wasn’t still on the toilet. But he didn’t have anything interesting to say; he just told me to keep my hands to myself.

Resetti: Don't go fiddlin' about with nothin', ya hear? Hands to yourself ONLY!

I visited Peck, and he told me I should take a picture of him…so I did. It must have been a long time since I was in his house though, because it didn’t look very familiar.

Peck: OK! Cheeeeese!

Near my central bridge, Velma was talking about how special Leap Day is. She said if this was her birthday, she would only be one-fourth of her current age. And then she backtracked, saying that today is her birthday! (Hint: It’s not).

Velma: Wait--did I say "if" this were my birthday? What I meant to say was...today's my birthday!"
What a liar.

She then said she was turning nine years old! Does that mean she’s really 36?

Velma: I'm turning nine years old.

Maybe I should call Scooby Doo to investigate.

Over by town hall, Daisy was also talking about Leap Day…just without the lies.

Daisy: Every 4 years, we get an extra day to spend however we want.

Saharah was right there, so I went ahead and hired her to put in new carpeting and wallpaper. She ended up installing a western vista and a ceramic tile.

Western vista and ceramic tile.

Up at the Dream Suite, Luna told me that Crimson from Stream was my most recent dream visitor. Thanks for stopping by!

Weed Buster Badge

Late last night, I saw that the entrance to the Reset Surveillance Center was open. So I dropped on in for a visit. However, I seemed to catch Resetti at a very bad time. Let’s just say I was not his #1 priority at that moment.

Resetti at his toilet: I got me an emergency! Get outta here, would ya!I left him alone to tend to his business. Back outside, Pashmina pinged me for a very good reason: She wanted to suggest a new public works project! Unfortunately, that PWP was just a wood bench. But I appreciate the suggestion regardless.

Pashmina: We totally need to fund the best wood bench there is! It'll be quite the tourist attraction!
It’d be a tourist attraction? No it wood not.

I went into town hall to see how it looks. I got board just looking at it.

Wood bench: 42,500 bells. When I went back outside, I got another surprise: I saw Phineas! The badge I had earned was also something quite unexpected; I earned the Weed Buster badge. It’s the silver badge for pulling lots of weeds. I thought a fishing or diving badge would have been more likely, but I’ll gladly take it.

I got the Weed Buster badge! Weeds are my mortal enemy!Apparently, that means I’ve pulled 2,000 weeds so far…in nearly three years. Yet you need 5,000 weeds for the gold badge. So it could take me another five years to earn that one! Yikes! That will probably be the last badge I earn…other than the gold StreetPass badge, which I’m sure I’ll never get. But here is a look at my current badges:

My badge collection as of 2-28-16.I made sure to say goodbye to my snowmam. See you next winter!

Snowmam: The season for snowpeople has come to an end...Dizzy was sick, so I took some medicine to him. He should be careful about jumping like this, though: His landing could cause an earthquake, or at least knock some of his furniture down.

Dizzy flips in the air as he takes medicine.Wendy gave me a download code for a Mega Man stage select theme for 3DS last night, and I enabled it. Thanks again, Wendy! I like the sound effects and I also like the starry background.

Maybe the world really is flat after all! 😛

And then today, I saw that carpet was the premium item at Re-Tail. So I took my six ice floors to Reese and sold them for a total of 106,656 bells.

Reese: Since I'm paying premium for all of these items today...the total is an amazing 106,656 bells!
