Today is the winter solstice, the longest night (and shortest day) of the year. In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, this fact is taken to the extreme: The sun doesn’t come out at all! Here’s a look at Forest shortly before noon today:
I also noticed that more of the trees have Christmas lights now. Only one of these two trees had lights when the lights first appearedย last Monday.
Joan was selling turnips for 106 bells each this morning. But since some of my storage space still had items left over from redecorating my house, I only bought 2,000 turnips instead of my usual 3,000+.
Once evening came around, Molly informed me of something that was painfully obvious by now: The sun won’t be coming up today.
I tried to make a perfect snowmam, but I guess I didn’t make the base the right size. I ended up with a snowtyke instead. He was looking for his brother and father, but I have no use for him. Sorry, little guy!
Isabelle was at the event plaza to celebrate the winter solstice. She was one chilly dog.
She gave me a glow wand so that I could find my way around in the dark. Unfortunately, it doesn’t really work that way. But it does look pretty cool.
I also stuck my face into the holiday standee. I’m the snowman that’s hanging out with the three headless people.
After making my way around town, I headed up to Main Street. I updated my dream town, and Luna told me that Julia from Panem was my most recent dream visitor.
Remember, there’s only a few days left to get your Toy Day hints from your villagers. Are you ready for Christmas Eve? I’ll see you all next time. ๐
Soon after starting up the game today, Big Top approached me and told he was moving out of town on December 25th. On Christmas? Ha! He’s not going anywhere.
A message posted on the bulletin board served as a reminder that tomorrow is the winter solstice–the longest night of the year. So we actually won’t see the sun at all tomorrow.
Madisyn invited me over to her town this afternoon, so I took my Santa-looking self over to Johto. Her friends Laile and X were also there. I was impressed by Madisyn’s many blue roses.
It wasn’t long before a hammer/axe fight broke out.
Over by the cube sculpture, Santa turned into a little devil. Well, actually a big devil.
I saw a face-cutout standee, so I put my head into Tails.
Madisyn suggested a trip out to the island, but we had to wait about 100 years for Laile to reach the dock. Just teasing, Laile. It was only 94 years. ๐
The island shop had the very rare silver axes for sale, so I bought a few of them.
We went on a balloon-popping tour, and to my surprise, I actually won.
But after that, Laile had to go to the bathroom, so we returned to Johto so she could leave. I had a little chat with Tutu, and she compared her friends to icicles. That’s just cold.
I sat on the zen bench, while Madisyn ran in circles around me.
You’re making me dizzy!
We hung out in Madisyn’s house for a while, and I tried to steal her GameCube!
Later on, I glitched onto her town tree and I started hammering people and animals that walked by.
We started playing with our umbrellas and spinning them around.
After about two hours (!) in Johto, I returned home. By this time, it had started snowing in Forest. I sat down on my metal bench near my illuminated tree.
And I don’t believe I’ve pointed this out, but I like how the tulip topiary looks with snow on it. And now that I see this picture, I’m remembering that I forgot to use that snowball to make a snowman today. Oh well.
Aurora advised me not to stay out in the cold too long. Wait, but then why is she saying to chill with her? ๐
I made one last stop at Club LOL, where K.K. performed K.K. Bossa for me.
Re-Tail was buying turnips for 111 bells each today. That’s literally only two bells higher than what I paid for them on Sunday. However, the prices have been all over the place this week, so I’m not feeling very confident that they’re going to get any better tomorrow. And since tomorrow is the last day to sell them, I decided to go ahead and cash out now, just so I don’t lose any money.
Thanks to no longer being on the beautiful town ordinance, I had a bunch of wilted black roses yesterday that I watered with my golden watering can. As a result, I had a bunch of new gold roses today.
Over by the metal bridge, Octavian started talking about my exotic chest.
He apparently liked the look of my exotic chest, so he asked me to give up the goods. He couldn’t wait to wrap his tentacles around it. Unfortunately, he only paid me 540 bells. I feel so violated.
I built another snowmam today, but it wasn’t a perfect one. I think I made the head a bit too big.
And by my western bridge, Molly wished me a Merry Duckmas.
Tom invited me over, so I headed off to Tomville. His friends Pichi and Vanessa were also there. Tom was having trouble ejecting something, but I was afraid to ask what he was talking about.
I went into his Re-Tail to sell seven baskets of perfect peaches; that earned me 189,000 bells. Once Tom showed his face, I saw that he was dressed up as me! But I’m the real Santa, ho ho ho!
But this Santa gave me some devil horns! What are you trying to say?
Actually Tom was just letting me catalog the red-horned hat. After I gave it back, the clock struck 11:00. Tom quickly told us to “Scram!” (first he’s Santa, then the devil, and now he’s Resetti apparently) and he ended the session before I had a chance to type out goodbye. Back in my town, I went up to the Emporium to see if the red-horned hat could be ordered; it can.
I ordered one, and I also bought a stuffed stocking that Timmy had for sale on the second floor.
I then saw that Ash was online. I had a Libra scale I ordered for her a while back, so I headed over to her town Hazakura to drop it off. Once I got there, I was trying to figure out what she was wearing…birthday shades. Today is her birthday, so happy birthday Ash! ๐
We talked for a couple minutes and then I returned home. Later on, I checked the Dream Suite, and Luna told me that Amy from Wonka was my most recent dream visitor.
I then decided it was time to redecorate my house at long last. My main room is now home to the ice set. It also has a few Christmas decorations, including the stuffed stocking I bought earlier.
And you can say goodbye to my creepy room in the back, because that stuff is dead and buried. Actually it’s in the museum now, but my back room now has the gorgeous furniture set. The only leftover item is the Metroid, which I decided to keep there for some reason.
You can also wave goodbye to my modern wood room on the right. I moved my emerald-customized modern furniture (that was in my main room) here. Most of my villager pictures also followed along. The modern set has many flat surfaces that are great for pictures and other table-top items.
My other three rooms remain mostly unchanged. Just moving these three rooms around took me a couple of hours, so that’s all the redecorating I’m going to do for now. But I made a video tour of my house so you can see the whole thing.
