Apple for an Elephant

Big Top asked me for an apple tonight. And since today is World Elephant Day (as he tweeted), I couldn’t say no to him.

Big Top: You know what I'd like right now? An apple. They grow right here in Forest!I kept my eyes open for some apples as I made my walk around town. When I went in to say hello to Sprinkle, I saw that Gala was also visiting her.

Gala visiting Sprinkle.Gala said she wished she was as popular as Sprinkle. I keep telling her she just has to turn herself into bacon or ham and she’ll be very popular!

Gala: Oh, hi, ham! Sprinkle must be very popular. I'm...just a little envious, snortie.Crazy Redd was in town, so I went inside his tent to check out what was for sale. Even though I saw a real ancient statue, I already had one of those in my museum. So I know the odds are slim, but I took a chance on this worthy painting.

Redd: Whoa! I say you've got eyes only for that worthy painting there! I'd say it has eyes for you too!I finally found an apple tree and I grabbed an apple for Big Top. I took it to him, and he seemed to enjoy it. He rewarded me with a lovely vanity.

Big Top: Oh! I should give you something, shouldn't I? OK, please take my lovely vanity as thanks!I then headed up to Main Street for my shopping run and to update my dream town. While I was in the Dream Suite, Luna told me that Mari from Narnia was my most recent dream visitor.

See you next time!

Octavian’s Arrival

Drago had the nerve to ask me for a tarantula tonight! I didn’t want to spend hours hunting one down, so I told him no.

Drago: Me, I'm totally obsessed with the tarantula right now.I made my way to the new house in town and I noticed the windows on the door were in the shape of a fish! That’s ideal for an ocean creature.

The fish-shaped window on Octavian's door.I then went inside to speak with my new neighbor Octavian. He is the fourth camper I’ve asked to move in. The others were Molly, Rolf, and Teddy. (Teddy no longer lives here).

Octavian: Oh! It's you! You invited me to live here, and I took you up on the offer! He was telling me not to go and move out of town! Ha!

Octavian: I'll be counting on you to watch out for me, so don't go moving away now that I got here, sucker!Later on, Wendy came over to sell some pears.

Wendy sells some pears at Re-Tail.She also collected signatures for a petition from my residents. However, she never said who it was for…it better not have been for Eugene!

Tiago also dropped in for a visit, although I was almost done playing by this point. Sorry, Tiago!

Tiago from Starfall has just arrived in Forest. After Wendy got all of her signatures, Kidd asked me for an orange. I actually had a hard time finding one! In my own town! That’s pretty bad. But before long, Wendy pointed out an orange tree to me. I grabbed the oranges and then ended the session.

I tracked down Kidd and gave him the orange. He loved it, and he rewarded me with an orange cone!

I doubt my orange cone comes anywhere close, but please, you've earned a gift, dearie! He also said he’s always going to associate me with oranges now, though! (And I’m always going to associate oranges with Squishy).

Kidd: Heh. You know I'm always going to associate you with that fruit from now on.A message on the bulletin board informed me that the Bug-Off competition is Saturday. Hopefully I’ll remember to participate before it ends at 6 p.m.!

~ Notice ~ This Saturday is the big Bug-Off! At last it's almost here!Anyway, that wrapped up my night in Forest. My most recent dream visitor was Freddie from Elektra. See you next time!

Fireworks in Tomville

Joan was selling turnips for 105 bells today, so I bought 1,000 of them from her this afternoon. Yes, I said this afternoon. I barely found Joan before the morning ended and noon arrived. And it was actually after noon when I made my purchase. Still, I got the turnips I needed, even if it was a close call.

Joan: So 1,000 turnips comes out to be... 105,000 bells altogether. Do you wanna buy them?I saved my game and returned to it later in the afternoon. I ran into Big Top, and he told me he had a dream of Melodi from Singtown. Luna would later confirm that Melodi was my most recent dream visitor.

Big Top: So the other night, Melodi from Singtown showed up in my dream!Kidd approached me and told me he wanted to move out of town. Without even thinking about it, I told him to stick around. I actually could have let him go this time, but it’s no problem. I like having him around anyway.

Kidd: Wow, if you feel THAT strongly... Maybe I shouldn't be moving!I finally got off my lazy butt and re-routed the path around Drago’s house. I plan on keeping him for a while, so I might as well fix up the area around his house a bit.

Re-routing my path around Drago's house.Over by the event plaza, Isabelle was getting prepared for the fireworks festival.

Isabelle: Oh, Mayor! Don't you worry about a thing! I've got it all under control!Just a bit north of there, near my central bridge, I found a new house plot: Octavian is moving in tomorrow!

This spot reserved for Octavian's new home. -Nook's HomesThe octo-plot is actually in a good spot, because my path already went alongside the back and side of his house. So I won’t have to move anything around.

Octavian's house plot.Even though it was too early for fireworks in Forest, Tom invited me over to Tomville, where it was five hours later. So I headed there and Andrew joined right after I did. I said “brb” because I was going to be away for a minute or two, and Tom somehow used my body to push himself (as he blew his tweeter) onto the tracks! I felt so used!

Tom41: I used BRBing Jeff to glitch!Over at Tomville’s event plaza, Tom’s Isabelle gave me a star bopper to wear.

Trying on my star bopper. And Andrew dropped three fountain fireworks for some triple fire.

Multiple fountain fireworks going off around me.Tom had glitched into the ocean by now, and he told Andrew and I to come see him at the dock. But right as we got down there, Tom’s friend Colben joined in, killing Tom. Once he came back to life, he had Colben push him so he could glitch back down again. I stood at the top of the ramp to watch some fireworks.

Watching fireworks.Once Tom got to where he wanted to be, he again called us down. He thought that if he used a Roman candle or sparkler while he was glitched under the water, maybe we’d be able to see the firework go off without seeing him holding it. But unfortunately, it didn’t work out that way. I saw nothin’.

Before long, Tom’s battery light came on and he quickly kicked us out. I found myself back in Forest, and I went up to Main Street. I noticed that Benedict is now one of the villagers that appears in the shopping district!

Benedict: Hey there, Jeff! I'm in Forest today to do some shopping. It’s nice to see him again. The animals on Main Street are former residents of course, and most of those are animals I didn’t care for (which is why I let them move out in the first place). But Benedict was one of the few that I did like, and I’m glad I’ll be seeing him on Main Street for months to come.

After I was done on Main Street, I saved and quit my game. I had already planned not to open my gate tonight, but I ended up not even playing in the one-player mode either. But this year, August has a total of five fireworks festivals! (Most years, it will only be four). So there are still three more of them yet to come. I’ll probably be opening my gate for two of the final three, but you’ll have to stay tuned for details.
