Day 430

I received a letter from Gulliver in the mail today. He sent me this conical straw hat from Vietnam.

Trying on the conical straw hat.Crazy Redd was in town today, and I wasn’t sure which of his art pieces was real. So I took a chance on this wild painting since it’s one I need for my museum still. I don’t see what’s so “wild” about it, though. It looks like a placemat.

Redd: I see! Ya seem to be really close to that wild painting, yeah?Gala approached me with a new nickname she thought up: Lamb.

Gala: Ummm... How about lamb?I didn’t like her suggestion. But I kept with the spirit of it by choosing a nickname that rhymes with lamb.

Gala: That settles it. Ham it is! I think that's a perfect name!I went up to Club LOL to catch a performance from K.K., and he sang K.K. Salsa for me. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring the K.K. chips to eat with it.

K.K.: Enough tuning--let's groove. This next one is for you, Jeff. It's called K.K. Salsa. For a moment, when I first went up the stairs at the Emporium, I thought the Nooklings were selling a scarecrow! But it was just a cowardly lion.

Rory standing in the Emporium. While I was there, I bought more medicine for Kidd. He was sick again today, but this second dose of medicine seemed to help him. Hopefully he’ll start feeling better soon.

Kidd: Phew. I think the worst part of this sickness has passed, thanks to the medicine I took, kidd!

Independence Day

Kidd was sick today, so I went up to the Emporium to buy him some medicine. But he indicated that he’s going to need more medicine in the coming days.

Kidd takes his medicine.Gulliver was down on the beach, and I was able to determine he’s headed to Vietnam. He will send me a gift from there tomorrow.

Gulliver: Phooooooo! That's right! It's Vietnam! I remember now!And today is the 4th of July, also known as Independence Day in the United States. Unfortunately, New Leaf doesn’t recognize this as a holiday (unlike the GameCube version of Animal Crossing). But I took matters into my own hands by making a pattern of the U.S. flag.

QR code of the American flag. It’s impossible to make it perfectly in a 32 x 32 grid, but I think I came pretty close. It has 16 stripes instead of 13, and 49 stars instead of 50. But I’m happy with how it turned out. I put the new flag up at town hall.

My American flag at town hall.Happy 4th of July to all of the Americans reading this! And have a great weekend, everyone!

Drago Moves In

Saharah was in town today, and she installed a sand garden and backyard fence in my house. It seems like I get these items from her pretty often.

A sand garden and backyard fence. In the Roost, I finally got Resetti’s coffee right! For once, he had nothing to complain about.

Resetti: Whoa! This is the good stuff! Smooth but with a little kick.I made my way around to the new villager’s house and I went inside to meet Drago. To my surprise, he wasn’t a random move-in; he came from Maine. I’m guessing he’s probably from a StreetPass town.

Drago: Anyway, I'm Drago. I just moved here today from Maine!Up in the Dream Suite, Luna told me Amy from Waffleby was my most recent dream visitor. And when I returned to Forest, I saw that Resetti’s hole was open! Maybe he liked his coffee so much that he wanted to invite me over!

The open entrance to the Reset Center. This was my second time entering his mole cave. But he didn’t have anything interesting to say. In fact, he was being a bit gross. He told me how he had trouble clipping his toenails because his gut was so big. Wayyy too much information there, pal.

Resetti: Even if I wanna cut 'em, I can hardly get around this big belly a' mine! I can barely SEE 'em! It's the pits!Just a reminder that there is no Friday Night Forest tomorrow.
