Bingo #2

Today, Big Top asked me to make a delivery to Molly, who was standing very close nearby. So I easily handed her the gift, but she said she already replaced that item. So she sold the mystery package to me; it had a wobbelina inside.

Molly hands me a present as Big Top stands nearby.Benedict asked me for an orange, so I gave him a perfect orange. He loved it and said a fantastic piece of fruit deserves a fantastic reward. But then he gave me a shanty rug? That’s supposed to be fantastic? I do not think that word means what you think it means.

Benedict: A fantastic piece of fruit deserves a fantastic thank-you! Here. Have my shanty mat!And for the second time this winter, there was an igloo at the campsite. Hamlet the hamster was inside. I might have invited him to live in my town, if only my town wasn’t full. I haven’t had an open spot since before Halloween, and it’s getting quite annoying.

Hamlet: I can play outside in any kind of weather! Enduring the elements is easy when you've got muscle!I found the money rock over by my snowmen. I only had to dig one hole because Snowmam had my back.

I bang the money rock with my shovel.I built another bingo snowman, and it gave me the number I needed! BINGOOOOO!

Snowman: BINGOOOOO!Of course I had to punch out practically every number on the card to do it, but better late than never.

My winning bingo card. The snowman gave me a snowboard as my reward. You can see it here on the left, next to my ski rack from last time.

My new snowboard. While walking around town, Molly noticed I had an owl clock in my pockets. She offered me some money for it, so I happily sold it to her.

Molly: So...I couldn't help but notice you have an owl clock right there in your pockets!Chris came over again to get a bingo number. It appears the snowmen have brought him out of hibernation; I rarely saw him online before the snow came.

Chris talks to one of my bingo snowmen. After he left, Kidd suggested a new public works project: A sphinx!

Kidd: I had this intense dream that a sphinx fell out of the sky and landed in Forest.I definitely want to put the sphinx in my town, although I’m not looking to install it immediately. It’ll fit in nicely near my pyramid. Maybe I could even make a sand pattern to turn that area into a mini-Egypt.

Sphinx: 698,000 bells.Kidd told me Tammy was sick, so I went to the store to get some medicine for her. But as soon as I got in her house, she was telling me to hurry up with the medicine. How rude! I didn’t have to buy her medicine at all!

Tammy: Cough cough. Ugh... Hurry...I still gave it to her this time though, so I could take an embarrassing photo of her.

Tammy appears to jump and stretch as she takes her medicine.

Winter Solstice

Today is the winter solstice, which marks the official beginning of winter (in the northern hemisphere) and it’s also the shortest day of the year in terms of daylight hours. Animal Crossing: New Leaf takes this “shortest day” stuff to the extreme: The sun never rises all day! This picture was taken at 3:45 p.m.

A dark sky at 3:45 in the afternoon on the day of the winter solstice.I got a letter from Gulliver in the mail, and he sent me a gift from Mexico. He said it was a creepy doll called a calavera, but the item itself was just called a skeleton figurine. I put it in my World Wonders museum exhibit.

My skeleton figurine from Gulliver.Isabelle was at the event plaza talking about the winter solstice and how cold she felt.

Isabelle: Hello, Mayor! Today is the Winter Solstice! It's so chilly today! She also gave me a blue glow wand to mark the occasion (and to help me see as I walked around town).

The blue glow wand that Isabelle gave me.The bulletin board announced that Timmy and Tommy had a queen for sale! What? How? Why? …How much?

-Important Announcement- Today we have an extremely rare queen for sale! Don't miss out! -Timothy and ThomasI built a new bingo snowman, and I got new bingo numbers from it and my other bingo snowman. I needed both numbers…yet I still didn’t get a bingo! That’s a total of 18 numbers marked off, too! There’s no doubt anymore: These snowmen are clearly trolling me!

My bingo card with 18 numbers punched off, and still no bingo.I then went up to the Dream Suite to revisit StarmanPhantom’s Tazmily town. That’s the Mother 3 themed town I featured on my Dream Suite Adventures page before. He’s added some new projects, so I updated that page to reflect the additions.

After I was done dreaming, Luna told me that Ryan from Rosewood was the most recent visitor to my town.

Later on, I noticed the northern lights (aurora borealis) up in the sky. This is the first time I’ve seen them in my New Leaf town.

The view of the northern lights from my bench in Forest.Chris came over to collect signatures for a petition, and we stopped for a picture at the winter solstice face-standee cutout.

Chris and I using the face-cutout standee for the winter solstice. But he needed six signatures, and we could only find five of my ten villagers in town! I eventually found Big Top hiding in the fossil room at the museum.

Chris chats with Big Top in the fossil room at the museum.Chris was done with his petition, so I ended the party. Before I quit for the night, I remembered to go up to Club LOL to get a song from K.K. He performed Mountain Song for me. I was thinking I already that song, but apparently I didn’t.

K.K.: Enough tuning--let's groove. This next one is for you, Jeff. It's called Mountain Song.

Frosty Friday Night Forest

Late last night, Tabby suggested a new public works project: an illuminated clock.

Tabby: Don't you think Forest would be five million times better with an illuminated clock?I hate to say it, but Tabby’s actually been pretty useful when it comes to suggesting new PWPs. Rolf and her seem to suggest the bulk of my projects. Anyway, the illuminated clock may look great at night, but it sure looks ugly when it’s not lit up. But I play at night a lot, so I will consider installing it in my town.

Illuminated clock: 146,000 bells.I was by the edge of the cliff when a balloon present smacked me in the head. OW!

A balloon present appears to hit me in the head.Jessica needed signatures for a petition, so she asked me to open my gate. I did, but she was unable to connect despite numerous attempts. So she invited me over to her town instead, and oddly enough, that worked just fine. Jessica had a perfect snowmam in her town, which means it only required three snowflakes for a piece of ice furniture instead of five.

Snowmam: So you'll give me 3 snowflakes? So I took advantage of the snowmam by catching snowflakes and paying reduced prices for her services. There was one part of Jessica’s town that really impressed me: The area around her town tree was surrounded by a circle of trees. This picture doesn’t quite do it justice, but it’s really cool.

Jessica's event plaza surrounded by a circle of trees. It was getting late, so I returned home for the night.

But then today, a notice posted on the bulletin board reminded me that tomorrow is the winter solstice. During the summer solstice, it stayed bright and sunny all day and night. So the winter solstice should be the opposite, staying dark even during the daytime hours.

~ Notice ~ Tomorrow is the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year in Forest!Gulliver was down on the beach today, and he’s headed off to Mexico. He will send me a gift from there tomorrow.

Gulliver: ...Mexico! That's it! That's the place! I was headed to Mexico! When I made a snowman today, it turned into another snowmam. It wasn’t even a perfect one, so it didn’t help me out very much. Well, I guess it gives me one day longer to collect the full ice set, but that’s not a big deal.

When I checked my sole surviving bingo snowman, he rolled a number 9 for me. I needed it, and now I’m one away from a bingo in three different ways.

Snowman: This is incredible! You're one away from bingo in three different ways!He told me this situation was even more rare than a completed bingo!

Snowman: This is even rarer than an actual bingo!I’ve punched 15 different numbers, and I still don’t have a bingo. This is my failure of a bingo card:

My non-winning bingo card.I spotted Phineas, so I went up to him and asked him for a badge. He gave me the Village Gardener silver badge for planting lots of flowers.

I got the Village Gardener badge! I've planted flowers and greenery all around town!Skye was on the metal bench, and she invited me up to sit with her so we could warm each other up.

Skye: Would you like to join me, skippy? If we sit close together, we'll be nice and toasty! So I joined her for a quick snuggle. I think Big Top was getting jealous.

Snuggling up to Skye on the bench as Big Top looks on.A bit later, Big Top asked me for some furniture that could sit on a table. I wasn’t sure what to give him, so I just caught a fish (a bitterling) for him. He said he would take care of it and raise it as if it were me! That’s kind of an odd thing to say.

Big Top: I'll treat the bitterling as if it were you, J-dog, and raise it well!Out of curiosity, I decided to see how much ice furniture sells for. Reese will pay 8,888 bells for each piece. Of course, the reason for that price is because the number 8 resembles a snowman.

Reese: Ooh, an ice table! I can take that item off your hands for 8,888 bells, if that's OK?At 10:00, I opened my gate for Friday Night Forest. Patty, Squishy, and Nick from Ylisstol came over to visit. Both Squishy and Nick have had trouble connecting to my town in the past, but they were able to visit tonight without problems. Squishy gave me some perfect oranges, so thank you Squishy! I told them to explore, but after a while we ended up in my house.

Squishy, Nick, and me hanging out in my house. While Patty was sitting on my bench and Squishy was by my illuminated tree, I surprised Squishy with a party popper to the head.

I fire a party popper at Squishy's head near the illuminated tree. She must not have appreciated it, because she got her hammer out. Now this is a face that wants revenge:

Squishy looks angry as she pulls out her toy hammer. After a while, Patty left and the rest of us went out to the island. I chose the giant dragonfly tour and we got an easy 20 medals, not counting our bonuses.

Tortimer: Jeff gets 10 medals, Nick gets 5 medals, and Squishy gets 1 medal! We also did a hammer tour (which Nick won) and an ore mining tour (which I won). We then did a little fishing and bug-catching.

Jeff tries to catch Nick in his net and says "what a big bug!"And then we headed back to Forest. Kapp’n called Squishy a queen and said that Nick and I were her servants!

Har har har! Feels like Squishy is a queen and you boys are her servants!Around 11:30, Squishy left (it was 4:30 a.m. for her!). I started catching some snowflakes for my ice furniture collection, and Nick left a bit after that. So I closed the gate around midnight. I now have eight pieces of ice furniture, plus the wall and floor. So I believe I only need three more pieces and I’ll have the whole set! Good deal.

Well that’s all for tonight, but I’ll be back with more tomorrow. Have a great weekend, everyone! Happy holidays!
