Lately I’ve been noticing a flower that I thought was wilted near my house. But since I was sure that I watered it yesterday, I decided to pick it up. Turns out it’s a black rose!
In City Folk, black roses looked more like a dark purple, so I didn’t recognize it as a black rose in New Leaf.
Down by the cliff, just east of my pyramid, there’s some home construction. This is where my previous camper Teddy will be moving in tomorrow.
And the campsite is occupied once again, this time by Vesta. She’s nice and all, but she’s not my favorite sheep, so I’m not going to ask her to move in.
I also spotted Gracie over by the town tree. But she was wanting me to wear flashy clothes for a fashion check. I don’t have anything in terms of flashy clothes, so I didn’t have a chance.
And I got a letter in the mail from Gulliver over in China. He sent me this red-tasseled lantern, which I put into my museum exhibit.
But soon after this, a problem popped up: The “photo limit has been reached” issue returned. So I tried my previous fix, but it didn’t work this time. When I tried taking a picture with the 3DS camera, it said: “The SD card’s photo/video limit has been reached. Cannot shoot.” So it seems the “fix” was just temporary. Now I had no choice but to move the pictures all to my computer and delete them all off of the SD card. My problem with that is the SD card was nowhere near full. It’s a 4 GB card, and it still had 2.2 GB free. What a joke.
Anyway, I went into the Happy Homes Showcase and there was a new SpotPass home there. It belonged to Steph from Leafy. She likes turtles.
My favorite room of hers was this library.
A bit later, I decided to try to finally catch that petaltail dragonfly I’ve needed. After 20-30 minutes of searching, I finally saw one. It was surprisingly easy to catch!
They were so difficult to catch in City Folk, but they seem to move much slower in New Leaf. At any rate, I’m glad to finally get that petaltail dragonfly. And this marks the first time that my insect collection is larger than my fish collection. This is my 57th insect, and I’ve caught 56 fish.
But as soon as I caught the petaltail dragonfly, Tex wanted to buy it from me! NO!!
After donating it to the museum, I remembered to take a look at my concrete fence. I don’t like it.
And after a quick trip to the island, I returned to find Phineas. He gave me the insect encyclopedia badge, which is a silver badge.

I went to the cafe today, and Tabby was there, hoping the steam from her coffee would moisturize her face. She told me she loves beauty tips…good thing, because she needs all the tips she can get.
I then went to the other side of the counter to work my shift. An animal came in that I haven’t seen before, and I thought it was Miss Piggy at first! Turns out it’s not even female. I wonder if Nintendo has a certain guy in charge of designing ugly animals. If so, he’s good at his job!
Even though I guessed wrong on Chops’ coffee beans, I got the other three customers’ orders perfect and I earned superb coffee beans for the day.
But while I was on the beach, I took a look at the view of my new lighthouse from the dock.
I then headed back up to town. Rolf approached me and asked if I wanted to play hide-and-seek. He was acting pretty cocky. He’s a cool-looking animal and I like him, but his personality rubs me the wrong way sometimes.
I had ten minutes to find Rolf, Benedict, and Alli. The first one I found was Rolf, hiding behind my modern clock. Smart move, buddy.
I actually found Alli down on the beach, hiding behind a banana tree.
And Benedict was hiding behind Alli’s house.
For winning the game, Rolf gave me a kiddie wall. It’s kind of funny that he has picked up Benedict’s catchphrase, buhk buhk. I almost expected him to show me his version of the chicken dance.
Next, I made my way over to town hall. I made sure to attend the completion ceremony for the lighthouse. But Molly was the only villager that showed up!
Alli then asked me to make a delivery for her. No problem, airhead.
With that task complete, I went up to Main Street. Gabi’s presence hasn’t meant the end of Harry; I’m seeing them both up there now! Anyway, in Nook Homes, I decided to try out the concrete fence. I’ll have to see how it looks tomorrow.
And my last stop was a trip to the island. The island finally had the hide-and-seek game I’ve been looking for! Of course, I just played hide-and-seek in my town! But in the island tour, at least I can run around without having to worry about the flowers. So I played one game of it (the easy variation). I found all four villagers in under three minutes and earned a gold Tortimer award and seven medals.
As I made my way around town, I noticed there was a tent at the campsite; Teddy was the camper. I’ve had him in my GameCube town before, but it looks like he’s put on some weight since then.
I’ve always liked Teddy though, so we played a game to determine if he would move in or not. By the emotions he used, I had to figure out that he was saying he could get surprised on a mountain by an avalanche. I got it right, so he will be moving into Forest soon.
Apparently, I left my money bags out on the ground after hitting the money rock yesterday. My pockets were full at the time and I forgot to go back for them. So this meant that today, I had two money rocks’ worth of money to pick up. This helped me pay off my lighthouse quicker than I thought I’d be able to. It will be complete tomorrow!
For the past two weeks, I had been seeing my former villager Harry up on Main Street. I was a bit tired of seeing him every day. But I tried not to complain too much, since it could always be worse. And today, it got worse. Harry wasn’t on Main Street, but another former villager was. It was Gabi! Ahhh!
I quickly escaped into the garden shop part of T.I.Y. I bought a sapling, and when I did, Leif informed me that it came with a bonus!
That’s right, I now have a golden axe that will never break!
Before wrapping up my day, I also went into the Able Sisters. I saw a mint gingham tee and bought it. It’s something I used to wear on GameCube sometimes, and besides, my flame shirt is too hot for August. I don’t need sleeves this time of year.
