Alli Moves In

I was working at the cafe today when Kapp’n came in. He said “Gimme you know what!” Knowing Kapp’n, it’s hard to know what’s going on in that mind of his. But I made him some coffee and he seemed pleased with it. *whew*

Kapp'n: Gimme you know what! After that, I went to introduce myself to my newest resident in town, Alli.

Alli: Excuse me? Who are YOU?!Maybe the mayor of her old town didn’t just barge into her house unannounced. But Alli said her boxes will be unpacked tomorrow, so I let her get back to work.

Outside, I ran into Tex. He told me he needs his fill of “killer” every now and then. I’ll be glad to help you with that.

Tex: At last, THERE you are, killer! I need my fill of killer every now and then.He told me that Tabby left something at his house the other day. Hmm, interesting.

Tex: The other day, Tabby somehow forgot something at my house, and I want to give it back, cowboy. So I took the package over to Tabby. She opens it up, and it’s her shirt! Tabby left her shirt at Tex’s house? Wow…  I guess Timmy & Tommy aren’t the only “T&T” pair in town.

Tabby: Hey, my monkey shirt! After doing the rest of my daily chores, I had earned enough to pay off my video screen! It will be complete tomorrow!

Isabelle: We've met our collection goal for the video screen project! It should be complete tomorrow! And as expected, I got a letter in the mail from Gulliver in Scotland. He sent me these bagpipes, which I added to my “world wonders” museum exhibit.

Blowing my new bagpipes I got from Gulliver in Scotland.Later, Rolf invited me over to his house. He warned me about unknown smells.

Rolf: Hey, boss. If you come across an unknown smell, let me know right away! When I was done visiting, I bumped into Tabby once again (it must be my lucky day). She asked for some new furniture. Since bugs were already swarming around her, I caught one (a mosquito) and handed it to her.

Tabby: It's a mosquito!Of course, she actually liked it! Ugh! But on the bright side, she gave me a dice stereo in return. Any time you get a stereo for a mosquito, you’re doing pretty well.

After that, I made a quick trip to the island. I caught a golden stag there, and to my surprise, that was my first one! So I returned to town and donated it to the museum.

And finally, I have to pass on this bizarre video from Ray Sipe. It’s a song he made up about Animal Crossing: New Leaf. It may not be the best song, but it falls into the “so bad it’s good” category. It’s so absurd that it’s hard not to laugh. Remember, you’re the mayor. You, you, you! Enjoy.

One More Fossil To Go

Rolf sent me a letter in the mail, thanking me for giving him medicine the other day. He also sent me this wrestler tank.

Trying on the wrestler tank that Rolf sent me.There was a camper over at the campsite, so I went in the tent to see who it was. It was Truffles the pig. I have no interest in convincing her to move in.

Truffles: Hi there! I'm just visiting your cute little town. You know, camping and all.I went around town watering my flowers, and I saw new construction. Alli the gator will be moving in tomorrow.

Sign: This spot reserved for Alli's new home. -Nook's HomesI’ve had Alli in my GameCube town before, and she’s alright. I don’t mind having her in town.

One of the fossils I dug up today was actually one that the museum needed! It was the plesio torso, and that completed the plesiosaur.

Blathers: Hoo hoo! This means...! Yes, oh my! The Plesiosaur is at last complete!I believe I only need one more to complete the fossil collection! But my good luck ended there, as I kept falling on my face all over town.

Falling on my face on Main Street.Copper informed me of off-shore storms that would blow in garbage from the sea. And sure enough, Gulliver was on the beach. After I woke him up, he started talking about a place with a lake-dwelling beastie. Ah, the Loch Ness Monster.

Gulliver: So this place, it's got some sorta lake-dwelling beastie of the deep.He also mentioned bagpipes, so it was obvious he was talking about Scotland. So he will be sending me a gift from Scotland tomorrow.

Gulliver: When I get to Scotland, I'm gonna show everyone that I can master the bagpipes! That wraps up today’s happenings, but I want to share a slideshow of pictures I took in the month of July.

First Fireworks Festival

Today I got a letter in the mail from the Happy Homes Academy. Apparently my house score exceeded 20,000 HHA points, so they sent me an HHA pennant.

The HHA pennant on my wall that I got from the Happy Homes Academy.I also got a “one lamp” in the mail, although now I can’t remember who sent it to me. I put it next to my nine lamp. These number lamps would be great to use on New Year’s, assuming you have all the numbers you need.

My nine lamp next to my one lamp.Over by the town tree, Isabelle told me that I can use custom designs for fireworks! How awesome is that?

Isabelle: Oh my! You've really brought me an idea for the show? That's so cool! Please show me the custom design!I showed her my JVGS pattern and Wendy’s Jif logo pattern.

Yesterday, I took three gold nuggets to Cyrus over at Re-Tail for customization. I forgot to return for my golden furniture yesterday, but I picked up my golden woman today.

Take home the golden woman? At 7:00, the fireworks festival began. I opened my gate, and my town quickly filled up. Dash, Wendy, and Annissa came over to visit. Of course we set off some of our own fireworks…

I set off a fountain firework near Dash, Wendy, and Annissa.Wendy ran through the fire at one point, which reminded me of a scene from Arrested Development. I’m a monster!

Wendy runs through the fire of the fountain firework. But the main attraction is the big fireworks up in the sky. There are big ones, little ones, and heart ones. The fireworks all looked really good.

Watching the heart firework up in the sky.And of course there were the custom fireworks as well.

A firework featuring the Jif peanut butter logo at the fireworks festival.Crazy Redd also had a concession stand, much like he did on GameCube. But he’s not selling balloons or pinwheels this time. Instead, he’s selling Redd’s cookies for 500 bells apiece.

Redd: I have Redd's cookies, limited items made in collaboration with T.I.Y. for the fireworks show.Much like the fortune cookies you can buy from the Nooklings, these cookies can be eaten and they have a slip of paper inside. Most of them will be “dud prizes,” which aren’t winners. They can be exchanged for a firework such as a sparkler or Roman candle.

But you can also get items from Isabelle as well. In addition to handing out fireworks, she gave me a bulb bopper, which you wear on your head.

Wearing a bulb bopper as a fountain firework goes off near Isabelle.Wendy, Dash, and I sat at the town tree to view my town history as the fireworks continued in the background.

Watching fireworks (with our eyes closed?) while sitting on the town tree.We also went over to my park near town hall and watched fireworks from there.

Watching fireworks from my yellow bench near town hall. After that, we headed off to the island.

Getting onto Kapp'n's boat as fireworks go off in the distance. We went on an item-matching tour and a fishing tour. To my surprise, I actually won the fishing tour.

Tortimer: Jeff gets 6 medals, Annissa gets 4 medals. We then returned to town, and I bought some more cookies from Redd. This time, I got a whiz prize. I wasn’t sure what that meant (and it doesn’t sound good), but that’s actually what winning tickets are called. I won a ten billion barrel.

Redd at the fireworks festival: Well then, here's your prize. A Ten Billion Barrel! This is what it looks like:

The Ten Billion Barrel as displayed in my house.I then ended the multiplayer session for the night. Even though the fireworks in ACCF were a lot of fun, New Leaf’s fireworks blow them out of the water. The fireworks look better and there’s more variety to them. There are more types of small fireworks you set off yourself (fountain fireworks in addition to sparklers and Roman candles). Plus the “boppers” are a nice touch, and the ability to get special items from Crazy Redd is just icing on the cake.

New Leaf’s fireworks festival is a whole lot of fun, and I’m really impressed. This is one of the best festivals I’ve played in any Animal Crossing game. And the best part? There’s going to be at least four of them every year. Did you all enjoy the fireworks festival as much as I did? Leave a comment below and share your stories too! As for me, I’ll be back with another blog entry tomorrow. Bye for now!
