The Lumpy Pumpkin

Back outside Skyview Temple, I found another goddess cube very close nearby.

Goddess cube outside Skyview Temple.Dowsing led me to Lake Floria, where I found another.

Goddess cube at Lake Floria.Dowsing indicated there were no more goddess cubes in the Faron Woods area, so I headed to the volcano area. I knew of one goddess cube there…in fact, there had been two separate times I had tried to figure out how to get it, but it left me stumped both times. Earlier, I had assumed I needed a longer clawshots to get it; that turned out to not be true. I did finally figure out how to get it today, using a completely different approach. At any rate, I’m glad I finally got it.

Goddess cube in volcano area.Dowsing did not detect any other goddess cubes. So I believe I have now activated all of the goddess cubes on the surface. I then went back up to the sky and started collecting the treasures the cubes unlocked. I also returned to The Lumpy Pumpkin. Let me describe what happened there before, since I don’t think I blogged about it at the time.

Early on in the game, I visited this island with a building shaped like a huge pumpkin. That is a restaurant known as the Lumpy Pumpkin. They had a chandelier, which had a piece of heart on it. In my efforts to get the piece of heart, I broke the chandelier. The owner then wanted me to work for him to pay off the damage.

He wanted me to deliver some hot pumpkin soup to the knight commander (and it had to be done quickly, so that it doesn’t cool off). I tried to do it at the time, but I didn’t know who the knight commander was. I think I took it to the headmaster, but it wasn’t right and I never completed that task…until today. I again tried to deliver it. I thought maybe I should try the guy who runs the sparring hall, and indeed, that was the right guy.

Delivering soup.He told me to say thanks to the owner of the Lumpy Pumpkin (I almost typed Pumpy Lumpkin). But while I was still in Skyloft, I saw that a treasure chest (unlocked by a goddess cube) was in the area, so I went up and grabbed it for 300 rupees. A hint from a gossip stone also led me to a missing baby rattle. I returned it to its owner and got five gratitude crystals. That brings my total up to 61.

Returning a baby rattle.I then returned to the Lumpy Pumpkin and the owner gave me another task to complete. I had to help harvest pumpkins and move them to the shed.

Harvesting pumpkins. After this, the owner still wasn’t done with me. He now wanted me to use my harp for something, but at nighttime. So I had to sleep until night. When I woke up, he wanted me to play my harp while his daughter sings, to entertain his customers…both of them.

Playing my harp at the Lumpy Pumpkin. You have to strum the harp with the rhythm, using one of the customers’ arms as a guide. But I had trouble getting it good enough so that the customers were satisfied. I failed, again and again and again. Eventually I got tired of it and gave up for now. I’ll have to come back to it another day.

Since I now had enough rupees, I went back to Skyloft and bought the last item at Beedle’s shop (that’s the flying ship shop). I bought the piece of heart for 1,600 rupees. I then noticed a bed…I slept there until night. I woke up on Beedle’s island, where he parks his ship at night. With his ship there, I was finally able to collect a treasure that I couldn’t reach before. He had a campfire going, so I talked to him for a bit.

Talking to Beedle. The next day, I went inside the thunderhead to collect a treasure and ended up on Stitch’s bug island.

Stitch: This is a bug paradise! He has a game where you have to try to collect the bugs he shows you within a time limit. I tried once and failed. At this point, I decided to end my game for the day. But I’m going to update my to-do list:

  • Successfully complete the harp song at the Lumpy Pumpkin
  • Win Stitch’s bug-catching game
  • Win the game on Fun Fun Island
  • Earn more gratitude crystals and turn Batreaux into a human
  • Consider getting the best shield from the Thunder Dragon
  • Complete any other side-quests that pop up
