Now that I’ve beaten the game, I can go back and do some fun stuff that I’ve missed out on. Some of the things I still want to do include:
- Find all (or most) of the goddess cubes and get the treasures they unlock.
- Win the game on Fun Fun Island.
- Do the pumpkin soup delivery I still need to do.
- Earn more gratitude crystals and turn Batreaux into a human.
- Check out the bug island the one guy was making.
- Get the best shield from the Thunder Dragon (if it’s not insanely difficult).
- Complete any other side-quests.
- Buy out the inventory on the floating ship shop in Skyloft.
- Explore and just have fun!
Tonight, I wanted to primarily look for goddess cubes I missed. I started out in the desert. Dowsing led me to Pirate’s Stronghold first for one, and then to Skipper’s Retreat, where I found another.
I also went skydiving to reach a treasure chest which held a silver rupee (worth 100 rupees). Dowsing indicated there were no other goddess cubes in the desert. But I still explored and did some treasure hunting and bug catching for a while anyway. When I was done, I went back up to Skyloft.
I went to the floating ship shop, and the guy only had two items left: A piece of heart for 1,600 rupees and a bug medal for 1,000 rupees. I bought the bug medal; it lets you see the location of insects on the map. I didn’t have enough money for the heart piece also, but I’ll get that soon.
While in Skyloft, I saw that one of the two treasure chests unlocked by the goddess cubes was there, on an island high above Skyloft. I had to use my clawshots to reach it. I had actually been wondering if it was possible to reach that island before, and now I know it is. Nice view from up there.
I then went to Faron Woods. Dowsing led me to Lake Floria, where I found one goddess cube…
…and then to Skyview Temple, where I found another. Unfortunately, you can’t dowse inside the dungeons, so I had to search for it the hard way…by going in every room and looking around. Once I did find it, I went back outside and saved my game. There is still much to do, so stay tuned.
Once I reach Ghirahim, he launches Zelda into the air, where she just hovers. He then makes some floating platforms for us to battle on. I have to knock him off each platform.
Eventually, we end up back on the ground as we continue to battle. Before long, I defeat him. He actually seemed easier to beat this time than he did in our previous fights…including the first dungeon! But he then informs me that even as we fought, the spell was working its magic (so to speak) and the demon king was being revived. And then a familiar
Zelda’s body is flung through the air, but fortunately Groose is there to catch her. The Imprisoned goes through a transformation, turning into
He seems to turn Ghirahim into a sword, effectively killing the demon lord. For a tough guy, Demise sure is nice; he lets me off the hook to come back and fight him later. This gives me a chance to return to Skyloft and refill my bottles before I go back for the final battle. So I did that and returned, ready to fight.
Throughout the course of the battle, I only used one heart potion ++ (it contains two doses) and I had defeated Demise. I am shocked at how easy that was. That’s it… no Ganon this time around, even though IGN spoiled that for me long ago…not in a preview, but on their main Wii page! Lame! Anyway, the scene shifts to the Sealed Temple. Impa, Zelda, and Groose are there, thanking Link. Then Smurf-Fi pops up and tells me that her job is done and it’s time to part ways.
She has me seal away the Master Sword (with her inside it, of course), where it (and her) will sleep forever. But right after one goodbye comes another. Impa says we must return to our time (the present) while she stays in the past. Zelda gives her a bracelet to remember her by, and Impa says they will meet again someday. We then go through the gate back to our own time. The Gate of Time disappears and the old woman there reveals a bracelet…the one Zelda gave her thousands of years ago! The old woman is Impa!
Each room has a different theme and resembles a different area from earlier in the game.
Even though the last room was combat-heavy with some large enemies, the dungeon didn’t have a boss battle. But I did recover the three pieces of the Triforce.
It fell into the huge crater where The Imprisoned kept rising from, filling in the gap perfectly. Smurf-Fi tells me that Zelda can now awaken from her long slumber. The game goes into pseudo-ending mode, with scenes you’d expect at the end of the game. Of course I knew it wasn’t really the end, since the Demon Lord is still at large and has yet to be dealt with. But Zelda wakes up and is reunited with Link, and Groose is so happy that he hugs the old woman in the Sealed Temple, and so on. Awww.
And then guess who… the Demon Lord himself, steps out from behind a pillar. He uses some sort of magic to knock out Zelda and knock down Link. He admits that we ruined his plans to revive the demon king (Demise?) in the present, so he grabs Zelda and goes through the Gate of Time to try to do his evil in the past. It’s up to Link to follow him through the gate. It seems as if it’s time for the last battle(s), but I decided to save that for next time.
I did however, go back up to Skyloft. I reloaded my bottles, grabbed the treasure chests from the goddess cubes I had already activated, and just prepared for what could be the last battle. The end is near.
