Mugged by Ursala

Purrl has already moved out of town, as I discovered when I checked my mail.

Dearest Jeff! During my entire move, I was sure I was forgetting something. You know what it was? I forgot to say adieu to you. I hope this letter will ease your devastation... All the best! -Purrl

Genji was talking about giant stag beetles tonight, and in particular, about how big they are.

Genji: It's a giant stag beetle! Sounds like a big bugh, huh? Like a big, scary bug.
Yeah, I figured that much from the “giant” in its name.

He said he thought he saw one once, but it was just Resetti. 😛

Genji: I've never seen one. I thought I did once, but it was just Resetti.

I got to meet Purrl’s replacement…and I immediately wished I had Purrl back. It was Sue E the pig.

Sue E: Stop shouting! I'm right here! I can hear you fine, snort!

She has lived in Forest before (years ago, before I started this blog), and I wasn’t a fan of hers back then either. The only good news is that she probably won’t stick around long.

While I was banging the money rock, a mosquito bit me. So I didn’t get the full amount from the rock. Mosquitos can be so annoying!

Yow! I got bit by a mosquito!

Over by the wishing well, Ursala said she found a modern table. She asked if it was mine, and I said yes. So she said she was going to take a reward from me for finding it! So she took half my money! 😡

Ursala: OK, I'll take a reward for finding it for you. I'll just have half of your money, grooomph!

The worst part is that I was carrying almost 40k, which is a lot in this game. So she walked away with over 19,000 bells of mine! I was so mad!

Ursala: Oh, you have only 19,498 bells with you?! Wow, no morals, no cash... You're really depressing.

I wasn’t happy about being mugged by this evil thug of a bear cub, so I hit her with my net a few times.

Ursala: Hey! Stop it! You're a complete bonehead, grooomph! Don't make me do something I'll regret!

In stark contrast to Ursala’s attitude, Hank was impressed by my flat stag beetle…and he politely asked me to trade it for a cherry. I accepted the offer, and he said you can’t even catch “these li’l guys” in Forest, so he advised me not to eat it. I’m not sure if he was talking about the beetle or the cherry. 🤔

Hank: So, don't go and eat it or anything. It's too rare!

I posted a new video this weekend, ranking my villagers in every Animal Crossing town I have. Check it out if you’d like!

See you next time!

Fishing Tourney 2023

Today, I received Pompom’s goodbye letter in the mail. She has waddled away after two months in town.

To Jeff, I'm leaving town, and I'm not telling anyone where I'm going, but don't you worry! I'm off on a grand adventure that's totally going to rule! Wish me luck in my new life. Don't forget me! -Pompom!
Don’t forget you? Wait, who were you? jk

The fishing tournament was underway, and Hank said he may need me to help carry the fish he was going to catch. 😆

Hank: Jeff! The fish I'm gonna catch, it's gonna be so big that I'm gonna need you to help me carry it!

Purrl, on the other hand, wasn’t as pleasant. Snooties are very hard to like in this game. Even Purrl.

Purrl: HEY, YOU! Would you mind not running so close to the water!? You're scaring away my fish!

Puck and Belle were fishing together at the northeast part of the lake. Puck thought it was a good spot to catch fish.

Puck: If I'm remembering correctly, this is a good spot, brrrrrrrrr. I caught some good ones last year!

Chip told me that Hank was the current leader, with a 19-inch fish. Of my first few fish (all regular bass), the biggest was 18 inches. I continued to fish as I made my rounds.

Chip: By the way, today's biggest entry is 19 inches. That tasty fellow was caught by Hank.

I found a mistake when I spoke with Maple: She said she accidentally bought two “peach” (instead of peaches).

Maple: I feel so silly. I accidentally bought two peach!

But she gave me one for free; that was nice of her. 🙂

It was raining in town, and many of my villagers were complaining about it. Baabara said there’s not much to do in the rain (even though a tourney was underway?), and she’s going to go to the bakery if it’s still raining tomorrow. Yeah, good luck with that.

Baabara: If it's still raining tomorrow, I think I'll head out to the bakery.

I was surprised to see Tortimer out and about; I forgot he pops out of his shell during tournaments. But he wasn’t even near the wishing well this time, he was several acres away. He told me if I was tired, he would catch a lunker for me! Yeah, right. He couldn’t catch a fish if it was in a fishbowl in front of him.

Tortimer: If you're tired, you can count on me to catch you a huge lunker, sprout!

I noticed there were only six minutes until the tourney ended, so I decided I better get serious about fishing! When I caught a large bass at 5:56, I felt pretty good about my chances. Even my 18-incher was a regular bass, and that was only an inch shorter than Hank’s. So I rushed it over to Chip. But he told me it was also 19 inches, so Hank was still the leader! Uh-oh!

Chip: That must leave sort of a bitter taste in your mouth. Not in mine, though.

With just two minutes to go, I was unable to catch another large bass in time. 🙁 So I officially lost the tournament. But it was nice just to participate. In fact, this was my first time competing in the GameCube fishing tournament since 2012! 😲

On the bright side, I got to meet my new villager, Freckles. I like her, she’s cute.

Freckles: What? Why am I telling you my name? Well, if you aren't the silliest thing!

So one duck replaced another. 😛 Freckles also lives in my town of Ohio, and she previously lived in Forest back in 2011.

When I got back around to my house, I checked the bulletin board. To my surprise, Puck was the winner with a 26-inch fish! So he must have passed Hank in the final two minutes! I guess that makes it easier to take the loss then, since I wasn’t tied with the winner.

June 25th Fishing Tourney Results! Champion: Puck, for catching a 26-incher! A fish-tastic prize is on its way! -Chip
I guess he really did have a good fishing spot, after all.

Of course, I would have been even more upset if I had taken the lead with a 20-incher and then lost in the final two minutes. Oh well. Maybe next time…whenever that will be. 😆

Thanks for stopping by, and Never Stop Crossing! 🙂

Sad Duck, New Cat

I played briefly on May 1st, and I got to see the windsocks that fly every year in early May.

Standing by the windsocks in early May.

Today, I received Mathilda’s goodbye letter in the mail. She bounced after three months in Forest.

Dearest Jeff! During my entire move, I was sure I was forgetting something. You know what it was? I forgot to say adieu to you. I hope this letter will ease your devastation... All the best! -Mathilda

I ran into Pompom, and she said her mood was as ugly as the weather. I thought ducks liked the rain, though.

Pompom: My mood is as ugly as the weather, rah rah.
Oh, cheer up.

Ursala was being as rude as ever. First she insulted me…

Ursala: I've heard that your room has absolutely no personality, Jeff! After looking at you, I can believe it.

…and then she tried to rip me off. I’m starting to wonder why she’s not my least-favorite villager in town. Even Baabara and Belle weren’t as rude as Ursala, at least today. 😛

Ursala: Well, care to buy an exotic rug or a kiddie wall for 19,500 bells?
I can bearly afford that.

But just seconds later, I forgot about Ursala’s unkindness when I ran into Mathilda’s replacement: It’s Purrl! She’s such a good kitty. 🙂

Purrl: Oh, no! Not another fan, kitten! Curse my movie star looks and winning personality!
Of course she is still a snooty. Well, pobody’s nerfect.

She previously lived in Forest back in 2012.

Wendell will be in town on Sunday, and several of my villagers were talking about his upcoming visit.

Kody: There's an artist roaming around the village. He wears lots of blue. I don't think he works out too much, either.

Emerald asked me to catch an insect for her, so that she can study it.

Emerald: I bet there are still a lot of mysteries surrounding insects that remain to be solved. I want to study them more.
And by “study,” she means “eat.” 🐜

The problem is that not many bugs show up when it’s raining. I went around banging rocks, and then I tried shaking a few trees. I wasn’t having much luck for a while. But I eventually found a pill bug; I took it back to Emerald, and she rewarded me with a perfect painting! Of course, I already have one in the museum, but that’s a really good reward for a bug!

I posted a video of today’s full gameplay session, if you’d like to see it:

See you all next time! 🙂
