Day 12: Town Hall Opens

In the daily announcements, Tom Nook mentioned that the brand new town hall building has officially opened up. And Isabelle has now joined the staff! She will take over daily announcement duties from Tom Nook, so that Nook can keep pondering if apples are apples. 😉 🍎

I got a letter from Resident Services to let me know about the new town hall, and they also sent me a Nook Miles ticket, so that I can take another mystery island tour.

Logan sent me a letter saying he was sending a poster of Bob…

Hey Jeff, Here is a poster of your favorite cat villager, Bob! April Fools! -Your friend, Logan

He also said April Fools! I found out what that meant when I looked at the item…

Jeff stares into the evil soul of a Tabby poster.

That’s one way to get deleted off my friend roster. (Just kidding). 😛 Sorry, but I am not keeping that up in my house! 😛 It’s not Halloween yet.

Also, David sent me a peach surprise box and Sebastian sent me an MVP shirt, which I put on. Thank you, Logan, David, Sebastian, and also Kelly, who gave me an outdoor bath (and a couple other items) the other day.

I straightened up my house a bit, and I put the outdoor bath in here (after I couldn’t decide on a spot outdoors).

But again, please don’t feel obligated to send me gifts. I really like to play Animal Crossing with as little outside help as possible; I like earning and finding everything on my own. There is something I wouldn’t mind receiving, though: more pitfall seeds. 😛 At some point, I might ask for ingredients for crafting more, as well. 😛

I headed to the new town hall, and Tom Nook told me that the duties are now split up: Tom Nook will be in charge of home and construction, and Isabelle will deal with general island things, like the town tune and town flag.

Tom Nook: We need new support staff for a new building, so Isabelle is here to take good care of us.

Tom Nook can now help me with building additional bridges or ramps! He can also move existing buildings. He also told me of his plans to bring K.K. Slider concert to town the island. The first step is to build a campsite to bring more villagers to the island. He sent me the recipe for the campsite construction kit.

I also browsed through the list of bridges I can build, because I do need another one to connect the western part of town to the rest. But I didn’t have enough money, and I decided I would expand my house one more time first. (I later did just that, and my house will have a back room by tomorrow).

While I was at town hall, I also redeemed 8,000 Nook Miles for the “Ultimate Pocket Stuffing” reward. That allow me to now hold 40 items in my pockets. YESSSSS!!!

I found another star fragment on the beach. I’ll just keep these in storage for now. I did some fishing, and I caught my first oarfish. This thing is HUGE.

I caught an oarfish!
I then stuck it in my pockets.

A message bottle showed up on the beach, and it contained a recipe for a garden wagon. By the way, am I the only one that always forgets if it’s called a message bottle or a bottle message? o.O

Agent S gave me a DIY recipe for a cabin wall. I ran into Midge outside, sitting by the river. She said she was comfortable, so she wasn’t going to get up. That’s kinda cute! 😀

Midge: Sorry for not getting up... I'm really comfortable here.

Gulliver was in town again, so I collected his communicator parts for him. He will send me another reward in the mail.

After collecting some iron nuggets, I was able to make the campsite construction kit. I placed it in the western part of town, and it will be done tomorrow.

I picked a spot for the campsite! I hope lots of folks come by to visit.

Tomorrow will also be the start of the Bunny Day festival, and cherry blossom season, so it looks like a busy day! I hope to see you then! 🙂

Update: I forgot to mention this, but with the opening of town hall, I can also now hear the hourly tunes! Finally! I’ve only heard two so far, but they sounded pretty good from my first impressions. 🙂

Day 11: Star Fragments

Today, Dodo Airlines sent me a letter thanking me for using their service. They sent me a DAL tee, so I put it on.

Jeff tries on the DAL tee from Dodo Airlines.

I made a quick afternoon trip to Tom’s town of Tomland, and Tom was dressed as a cowboy. Yee-haw! 🤠

Tom dressed up as a cowboy.

When I played in my own town later, I found star fragments lying around on my beach. They came from last night’s meteor shower. But I was actually surprised I didn’t get a letter from Wishy explaining these things.

Jeff finds a star fragment in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

I counted three regular star fragments, a large star fragment, and an Aries fragment. There was actually another meteor shower tonight, so I wished on at least one more shooting star.

Even though Mabel was in the plaza, she said her shop was closed for the day. So I wasn’t able to buy anything from her today.

A bottle message contained a recipe for a rose bed, and I got a recipe for a wooden chest from Marcel.

I shot down two balloon presents tonight. The first one contained a figure skating costume (a dress). But the second one contained something much better: 10,000 bells! I didn’t even realize you could get money bags from balloon presents!

Shari taught me another reaction, called cold chill. It’s the one where the leaf blows by.

Shari: So alright, speaking of bones... Did you know we settled on top of an ancient burial ground?
It’ll be a future burial ground once I make enough pitfalls. 😉

I toyed with the idea of using fences to make a yard next to my house. However, I’m not quite happy with it, so I may not keep it this way.

Jeff puts a fence and yard around his house.

I know it’s a shorter entry today, but more should be going on tomorrow. Town hall will be opening, for one thing!

My latest gameplay video is up, showing events from days 5-6, including my first meeting with Wisp and Saharah.

See you tomorrow!

Day 10: Agent S, Pitfall Seeds

In Tom Nook’s announcements, he informed me that Resident Services is upgrading to a new building (town hall)! It won’t be open until the day after tomorrow, but that’s okay. It’s nice to see more progress being made in town! 🙂

I had two letters from Timo, who came to Friday Night Forest. She sent me 20 pitfall seeds! Wow! 😮 Thank you so much! I buried one and dug it back up to learn the recipe.

Huh. So that's how it's done... I just discovered a recipe for making a pitfall seed!
Look out world!

I also received my first rating from the Happy Home Academy. They gave me 7,221 points, and a “B” rank. They sent me an ironing board as my reward. (Hey, that rhymed).

There was a throwback wrestling figure for sale at Nook’s Cranny today, and it’s really big! It’s as big as Timmy and Tommy!

Mabel was selling clothes and accessories at the plaza again today, and I bought some pleather sneakers from her. They look a lot better than the slip-on loafers I was wearing.

Thanks to tips from Kaleb, Max Powers, and Trainiax in yesterday’s entry, I bought the “Pocket Organization Guide” from the Nook Stop in Resident Services to expand my storage to 30 items. That’s a big relief. Thanks, guys! If the name of it wasn’t so vague, I might have bought it sooner. 😀 I just didn’t realize what it was! 😛

Today, I learned that sickness is back in New Horizons. Louie was sick with a cold, and he was wearing a Santa hat for some reason. I bought some medicine for him. I noticed that villagers now spin around horizontally, rather than doing a flip, as they take their medicine. He gave me a fishing vest as thanks. Get well soon, D.K.!

Louie stretches his arms out after taking medicine.
Don’t hug me. I’m scared.

I made sure to introduce myself to my new favorite villager who just moved in, Agent S!

Agent S: Hey, I'm deep in the middle of unpacking, but when I'm done, you should totes come over!

I like that the outside of her house is blue, just like her outfit.

Also, I kept hearing an occasional ringing or jingling sound in my town, and I didn’t know what it was. It was starting to annoy me! But as I took a picture of Agent S’s house, I saw the source: shooting stars! And yes, I pressed the A button to wish on one. 🙂

Today’s bottle message came from Dom, and it contained a recipe for a bamboo wall decoration. A balloon present I shot down contained a writing chair.

When I ran into Shari, she laughed in my face! But that was a good thing, because she taught me the laughter reaction! That’s the one I’ve been waiting for! Thanks, Shari! 😀

Shari: BWAAAH-HA-HA-HA!

I also visited Midge, and she was crafting. When I spoke with her, she gave me a DIY recipe for a wooden toolbox.

Now that I have pitfall seeds, and the means to make even more of them, I decided to make a change to my passport. My new title is Late-Night Troublemaker! Very fitting. 😉

I even included Agent S in my new passport photo.

I rearranged my benches into a new position. I’m probably going to have Friday Night Forest again this week, at the same time (10pm Eastern, 7pm Pacific).

At the plaza, Shari was singing again. Marcel came over and sat down next to her, and he seemed to enjoy it? But then again, the smile on his face is painted on, so it’s hard to know for sure.

Marcel sits down and seems to enjoy Shari's singing.

I gave Kelly and Jorge a couple pitfalls before wrapping up my night. See you next time! 🙂
