Got the Jitters

On Wednesday, I received this letter from Mom. It’s about the sounds of summer…and Dad.

Dear Jeff, There's a jam session tonight with frogs and your snoring dad on bass, and bugs on percussion. I can't sleep... -Mom

Today, Goose’s replacement moved in: It’s Jitters the green bird. He looks like he just drank 15 cups of coffee. (And that might explain his jitters.)

Jitters: So you're telling me... they call you Jeff? Really, bzzert?

Dotty has still been sick with a cold, so I gave her some more medicine Wednesday, and again today.

Dotty: M-medicine...??

Saharah was in town, so I helped her out by delivering some wallpaper for Phyllis and Mabel. While I was in Able Sisters, I bought myself a dawn shirt. And since Wolfgang had been asking me for new clothing, I gave him my old racer shirt.

Wolfgang: Not bad... Not bad at all! You've got a good eye for style, kid.

He rewarded me with a puffy hat, which I tried on briefly. I’m not a fan.

When I returned to Saharah, she had a third job for me. She asked me to deliver some carpeting to Blathers…even though we were standing right outside the door to the museum. 😛

Saharah: I have the next one here. Please take it to Blathers.

After I stepped inside and made the delivery, Saharah ultimately rewarded me with a Saharah’s desert carpet.

Morbid Peanut

On Thursday, I received Goose’s goodbye letter in the mail.

Yo, yo, yo, Jeff! I'm moving! Man, we had a great time chillin' in Forest! I'll think of you when I pump mad iron! Later, yo! -Goose

Even though the UFO didn’t come at the first two opportunities, it surprised me with a visit after I came out of Nook’s shop! Despite not being prepared for it, I was able to chase it down and shoot it out of the sky.

Site of the UFO's crash landing, with Gulliver lying unconscious on the ground.

After I recovered Gulliver’s UFO parts for him, he rewarded me with a mermaid statue. I already had one, so I didn’t need it.

Today, Tom Nook gave me a stomach update.

Tom Nook: I think I may have eaten something that disagreed with me, yes?

Actually he was just continuing his discussion about his previous life in the city, and the bitter memories that were upsetting him. It was about him being unprepared for life in the city, where he kept making errors and lost everything he had.

Wolfgang asked me if I’d rather eat mousse or fish and chips, but before I could answer, he told me that he hates them both.

Wolfgang: Huh? Me? Well, actually... I hate them both! G is for gross, snarrrl!
Who said anything about “G?”

There was another fireworks festival underway, and Peanut said that it would soon be reduced to memories of smoke and ash. And then she started talking about…her own death?

Peanut: I hope people remember me once I'm gone, too... Wow, that's TOTALLY morbid...

And Eloise said she’d like to look down on the fireworks from above.

Eloise: Just once, I'd like to be able to look down on the fireworks exploding!

Sure, why not? She looks down on everybody else. 😆

At the Roost, K.K. Slider sang me a lullaby. And I think it worked, because I ended up taking a nap after I was done playing. 😆

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: K.K. Lullaby!

Dotty was sick with a cold tonight, so I gave her some medicine.

Goose’s replacement has not moved in yet, but that will surely happen next week. See you then!

Fireworks Festival 2023

On Wednesday, Pascal was standing on the shore. When I spoke to him, he wondered what would happen to a sailfish that didn’t know how to sail. 😛

Pascal: You ever wonder what happens to a sailfish that doesn't know to sail?
I guess it would either sink or swim.

Yesterday, Goose wanted to sell me a classic bed for 3,000 bells…and I was obviously not interested. He got mad, saying I’m supposed to buy it off him because I’m his friend.

Goose: Huh?! Why the heck not?! You're my bud! You're supposed to buy it off me!
Wrong on both counts.

Tonight, the fireworks festival was underway. Mayor Tortimer was standing outside of town hall, and he gave me a sparkler and a Roman candle.

Tortimer: Tonight, Forest will have a fireworks show. So please take this, sprout.

Eloise was hanging out around there too, and she said that listening to fireworks relieves her stress.

Eloise: Just listening to the fireworks jolts away a week's worth of stress.

Really? A bunch of never-ending, loud, Earth-shaking explosions right above your head makes you less stressed? 🤔

But no doubt the fireworks are a pretty sight to behold. As pixelated as they may be at this resolution. 😉

Fireworks explode during the fireworks festival.

Dotty, however, did not seem to share Eloise’s sentiment. 😆

Dotty: Huh?! What?! WHAT?!
With ears that big, you’d think she could hear me.

Goose was all packed up and ready to move out…and I decided to let him go. He’s been annoying me lately. I guess I’m not a fan of jocks in Wild World, even though I like them in most of the other games.

Goose: Looks like it's gonna be an epic tourney, so I'm just gonna go ahead and move!
So long, Goose.

K.K. Slider was in town, and he performed K.K. Rockabilly for me.

Before wrapping up my game for the night, I went bug-hunting for about ten minutes. The fireworks and festive atmosphere provide a nice backdrop for bug hunting. 🙂

Update: I posted a full gameplay video of yesterday’s session:

See you next time!
