Mayor Eats Duck

Tonight, Derwin told me that Mayor Tortimer’s favorite food is Peking duck! The fact that Derwin is a duck himself is what makes this so shocking.

Derwin: Umm... So, the mayor's favorite food is Peking Duck?

And at first, I thought it was just a coincidence that a duck mentions the mayor’s favorite food being duck. It probably just lists any random food, right? There are plenty of lines throughout the series that do exactly that. So I thought that the same thing was happening here…until Derwin continued. He made it clear that it really creeped him out, and he even cried!

Derwin: Why!?! That's sooo creepy, derrrr!

Why would that be so creepy otherwise? Is a duck going to cry if Tortimer ate a fish or a steak? I don’t think so. So I believe this must have been an intentional choice. Regardless, it’s another great bit of dialogue in a game full of interesting writing. 👍

Anyway, Chief was hoping to find a moth for his niece, who is really into collecting bug specimens. So he asked if I’d like to compete to see who could catch one first. Since moths are usually pretty easy to find at night, I agreed to the contest.

Chief: You can help, sparkles! Just look out for a moth.

And sure enough, it only took me about 25 seconds to find one hanging out near Pippy’s house. I caught it, and took it back to Chief. He wasn’t happy about losing to me, but he rewarded me with a checkered tile.

Chief: And I lost to sparkles of all people? That's just sad.

I found a note in a bottle, and it was written from a big brother to a little brother. He said he was going home next month, and he encourages the younger brother to come home too.

To my little brother, I'm going home later this month and you should come, too. Mom worries! -Your big brother

Saharah was in town, and she asked me to deliver a rug to Pelly. It was too late for Pelly to be at work, but Phyllis accepted the package instead. She just didn’t seem happy about it…not that she’s ever happy about anything.

Phyllis: Well, I guess I should say thanks. Uh, thanks. (Get outta here! Sheesh!)

Saharah also asked me to deliver a carpet to Blathers. Once I was done, Saharah rewarded me with an ancient wall.

Saharah: Done! It is finally done! Thank you so much for your help, friend!

Pippy was packed up to move out of town, but I talked her out of moving (after three attempts). I don’t want her to leave anytime soon.

It looks like I forgot to embed my latest Wild World video episode into last week’s entry, but here is episode 88 if you haven’t seen it yet:

  1. I think lazy duck villagers are the only ones that say this! I remember Joey and Drake saying this in my WW town and they were in boxes shortly afterwards!
