Melting Cube

On Monday, Inkwell invited me over to his house. Since I still need his photo, I agreed to visit. While I was there, he told me that he could use a dorsal fin. Yeah, that makes sense. 😂

Inkwell: Man... I could really use a dorsal fin.

Cube was outside, complaining about the heat. He (very appropriately) thought he was in danger of melting. He even asked me to stick him in the freezer to revive him if he melts! 😂

Cube: If that happens, promise you'll put me in the freezer to revive me, J bear!
I can revive you, but you’re probably not going to be Cube-shaped any more.

I found a lost item (a book) on the ground, and I returned it to Boots. He said it was a book of his poems about the beauty of rainbows.

Boots: Is this...? Ah, yes. My poetic musings about the beauty of rainbows...

He thanked me for returning it, and he gave me a gray parka.

Today, Cherry promised not to eat me when I visited her. Uh, why is she even thinking about eating me? Maybe if she was a tiger or something. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Cherry: Hey. As long as you're a guest here, I promise not to eat you. So just try to relax, what what!

She asked me to catch a dragonfly for her, so I found a darner dragonfly nearby. When I took it over to her, she rewarded me with a modern wood wall.

Egbert the chicken was camping at the campsite; I like him!

Egbert: Hey! Are you from this town? I'm here camping!

In fact, he’s probably my 2nd favorite chicken in the series (behind Hank from the GameCube game). But my town is full, so I have no space for him to roost in Forest.

Saharah was in town, and I paid her 3,000 bells for some new wallpaper and carpeting. She installed a maze wall and an autumn floor.

The autumn floor is among my favorites in the game, but I’m pretty sure I already have one in storage. But this wallpaper is not quite as a-maze-ing.

Forgotten Gift

Last Tuesday, Al showed up at the campsite. But I was not interested in this Donkey Kong-wannabe. (Louie is a better D.K. anyway.)

Al: You're from this town, aren't you?

On Friday, Boots asked me for some furniture. I ended up giving him a Mouth of Truth…one that he gave me last month!

Boots: Oh! A Mouth of Truth! This is so great, bro!

He didn’t seem to recognize it, and he seemed to love it. In fact, he gave me another copy of his photo to thank me.

The fireworks festival was held yesterday, and Isabelle gave me a bulb bopper to wear.

I walked over to the nearest bridge to get a nice unobstructed view of the fireworks.

Only New Leaf has these awesome heart-shaped fireworks. And look how this one lined up with the crescent moon. I ♥ it!

You can’t beat these.

Nibbles was camping at the campsite today, but she didn’t seem very excited about being in Forest.

Nibbles: I bet you weren't expecting to see super-stylish ME here! Actually, I wasn't expecting to be here either.
She was on the fence about visiting again.

Today is Rolf’s birthday, and I walked into Re-Tail with the intention of buying him a birthday present. But after I sold some stuff, encouraged a villager to buy some ore, and then displayed more ore for sale, Rolf’s gift completely slipped my mind.

I didn’t remember forgetting the gift until I walked into Rolf’s house, when it was already too late. I had no furniture in my pockets to give him, so I had to give him a work shirt that I found attached to a letter. He didn’t exactly seem thrilled with it.

Rolf: Oh, a work shirt? Well that's something I don't have a lot of experience with...

But I hope he had a good birthday regardless. At least Molly was also there to help him celebrate. Maybe she got him something better. 😛 But I didn’t stick around long; I ducked out of the party pretty quickly.

I tried using my shovel to eliminate some unwanted flowers…until I accidentally killed a golden rose. I grabbed a replacement from the beach, but my once-large collection of replacement gold roses is starting to dwindle down.
