November Changes

The other night, Beth invited me over to Arrested. So many weeds had accumulated that Leif was there, talking in his sleep! I’ve seen that happen on Weeding Day before, but I didn’t realize it could happen other times too.

Leif: Zzzzzz... Weeds... Weeds everywhere...And now that Halloween is over, I cut down my dead trees and replanted some perfect peaches.

Chop, chop!

The arrival of November means that mushrooms will start appearing around town. Even though you can get them year-round near stumps, they can now appear near regular trees too. Here, I found an elegant mushroom next to my house: It’s worth 10,000 bells!

An elegant mushroom appears in Forest.

Some of those mushrooms will actually be mush furniture, such as this mush wall lamp. I don’t really care for the mush furniture, but I suppose it would grow on me if I gave it a chance.

Wahoo!I thought it was a mushroom, but it's a mush wall lamp!

I got a letter from the post office, informing me that I’ve earned 99,999 bells in interest on my bank account. Along with some other money I earned tonight, that helped my balance reach 84 million bells.

Your current balance is 84,000,000 bells.

My most recent dream visitor was João from Onett. Thanks for stopping by!

Note: There is a Nintendo Direct video coming in the morning, focused solely on Animal Crossing. The bad news is that it reportedly will only discuss the New Leaf update that’s on the way, and not the Animal Crossing app or any possible Switch game. But at least we should get a firm date for the New Leaf update.

I’ll be back later in the day (or night) tomorrow with my thoughts on the announcements. Hope to see you then!

Halloweekend FNF

Tonight, Molly told me she was planning on moving out of town on the 1st of this month. This month? She meant to say next month, but regardless, she’s not going anywhere in any month if I can help it.

Molly: Well, that really resonated with me. So I've decided to move on the 1st of this month.Unlike many years, I didn’t have a Halloween costume picked out ahead of time. So I just grabbed a red pumpkin head out of storage (in a museum exhibit) and put it on. I still kept my “C” logo on, since the Indians are currently in the World Series. Go Tribe!

Me wearing my red pumpkin head and Cleveland Indians shirt.I also put my jack-o’-lantern face on my custom-design sign.

Note: This picture was taken at the end of the night. It wasn’t raining earlier in the evening.

At 10:00, I opened my gate for my rescheduled Friday Night Forest. Beth and Squishy came over. Beth was dressed as a black cat in a crop top and skirt, and Squishy was dressed as an anime character (Kaori from “Your Lie in April”). Squishy’s outfit is available on her blog if you’re interested in the QR codes.

Anyway, Beth alerted me that there was a buried fossil I hadn’t dug up yet.

Look! I dug up a fossWe then had a net fight at the plaza.

Having a net fight in the Forest event plaza.I took a few hits, but the joke was on them. With my pumpkin head on, I couldn’t feel a thing!

Jeff, wearing a pumpkin head: Just don't squash me.At one point, Beth told me my custom-design sign scared her. And later on, my face scared Squishy!

Squishy: You scared me there, lol.A bit later, Squishy fell into the pitfall behind my gravestone face-cutout standee. But unfortunately, I wasn’t around to see it. I always seem to miss these things. 😛

We headed out to the island for some fishing, bug-catching, swimming, and diving. Look, a catfish!

Beth, dressed as a cat, swims up to the surface after diving. We then went inside for a couple of island tours. We started out with a bug hide-and-seek tour, where we had to catch bugs that aren’t easy to spot. That includes walking sticks, centipedes, and pill bugs. We earned a gold Tortimer award and 15 medals (not including the bonus medals). And to my surprise, I caught the most bugs.

Tortimer: Jeff gets 8 medals, Beth gets 4 medals, and Squishy gets 1 medal! We then went on a balloon-popping tour–the official (regular/medium difficulty) one. I was thinking it didn’t have pitfalls, but it did. It did.

Jeff and Squishy stuck in pitfall seeds on an island tour.We earned a gold Tortimer award and 8 medals. Beth popped the most balloons, and I popped the least. Too bad it doesn’t rank us by how many pitfalls we fell in. 😉

After that, we returned to Forest, where it was now raining. I sold my catches (about 60,000 bells worth) and then ended the session. Thanks for coming, Beth and Squishy! I hope you all have a great Halloween weekend! Feel free to use any of these Halloween QR Codes in New Leaf or Happy Home Designer!

By the way, Eric from Traverse was my most recent dream visitor.

Jeff: BOO-BYE!

Bad Trade Requests

Over the weekend, I found one of my favorite villagers Savannah at the campsite. Unfortunately, my town is full thanks to Camofrog’s recent (and unexpected) move-in. Ouch.

Savannah, at campsite: Oh, hello. Are you from here? I fell in love with this town and decided to take a camping trip here.Yesterday, Big Top wanted to trade his pink tartan shirt for my silver nugget! Ha! That’s a really bad trade offer.

Big Top: Let's make a deal! Wanna trade your silver nugget for my pink tartan shirt?

I got another lopsided trade offer from Hamlet tonight. He tried to make it interesting by pretending we were big-league managers. Considering that the World Series started tonight, it’s an appropriate time to play this game.

Hamlet: Yo! Big guy! Let's play a game, we'll pretend we're big-league general managers. But the trade he proposed was not fair. He wanted to trade his painting set for my sabertooth torso fossil. No deal!

Hamlet: I'll trade painting set on my team. Sabertooth torso on your team comes over to me.I visited Camofrog tonight, and I didn’t see him at first. And not just because my eyes were closed. He was really camouflaged in his house!

Camofrog camouflaged in his house.

He then told me a story about how his mom used to trick him into doing chores by rewarding him with sweet potatoes.

Camofrog: Some days...I'd help out without even being asked! Hey wait! My mom totally tricked me! Gah!

My recent dream visitors have been CC from Utah and Brustie from Duwang. Thanks for stopping by!

Just a reminder that Friday Night Forest is this Friday at 10 p.m. Eastern time. I may only stay open for one hour, though.
