Can’t Let Ham Go

Yesterday, Bob found me by the tulip topiary and asked for the common butterfly in my pockets. He only offered 90 bells for it, but sure, why not? It’s not like I catch these things for the money anyway.

Bob: Would you ever consider selling your common butterfly to me?Saharah was in town today, and I hired her to put in some new wallpaper and carpeting. For reasons unknown, she thought this green wall and boxing-ring mat would be a good combination. Yuck!

A green wall and boxing-ring mat.Hamlet told me that he already wants to move out of town, on July 2nd! I don’t plan on letting anyone leave for a while, so I made him stay put. If he really wants to run away, I’ll just put him on a hamster wheel and let him think he’s actually going somewhere. 😉

Hamlet: OK, I give up! I can't move now. I'll see you around, bucko!

I made a dream visit to the town of Tranquil this afternoon. It has some horror-themed areas, but it also has some lighter movie and fairy-tale themed rooms as well. I wrote up a full Dream Suite Adventure of the town, so please check that out. But I’ll include a couple of bonus pictures of Tranquil here:

An exotic room in Tranquil.Dolls sewing. And if you haven’t yet seen my slideshow of pictures taken in my third year of New Leaf, here it is…even if it is a bit late. It includes pictures from May 2, 2015 to May 2, 2016.

My recent dream visitors have been Andrew from Lyminith and Ray from Forest. Thanks for stopping by!

Last night, I went to visit Bob. I was surprised to find Big Top was there as well.

Bob: Glad you came to visit, jeff! Big Top is here too, so my place is party central! Pthhpth!Big Top just wanted to use Bob’s sofa to take a nap on. It’s hard to imagine an elephant sitting on a cat’s sofa without breaking it.

Big Top: I'm super jealous of Bob. He's got a giant sofa I bet is perfect for naps! When I put some money into my bank account, my balance topped 73 million bells.

Your current balance is 73,040,000 bells. After a quick stop at Beth’s towns of Otaku and Arrested, I returned home and decided to put in a new PWP (public works project). But it’s not the geyser you might have been expecting; I still haven’t picked out a spot for that just yet. Instead, I decided to put in a custom-design sign. It only costs 40,000 bells, so I paid it off on the spot.

I put it near my bulletin board, so that visitors will see it soon after getting off the train. I can put seasonal/holidays designs up depending on the time of year, use a sports team logo, or even make a sign welcoming my visitors. For now, I put the Cavs’ CLE design.

My new custom-design sign.I then went to town hall to trigger the completion ceremony. Yay!

The completion ceremony for the custom-design sign.Believe it or not, it’s been a year and a half since I put in a new PWP! The last one was my Sphinx back in November 2014.

When I was at town hall, I also took an updated picture of my town map. It’s been a while since I’ve updated the map on my town page, so here is the up-to-date map that includes the houses of Hamlet, Bob, and Julian.

Forest town map as of June 24, 2016.

Hamlet noticed I had an empty letter slot, so he asked me to bury a time capsule for him. I put it in the northwest corner of town, as I usually do.

Hamlet: Hey, bucko! Go bury my time capsule for me!
Don’t boss me around or I’ll bury YOU.

Julian asked me to make a delivery to Rolf…because he was too shy to do it himself. Julian shy? I never pictured him as the shy type.

Julian: Why? Because I'm shy! Can't you tell, Jeff?I took the item (a metal guitar) to Rolf, and he rewarded me with djimbe drum. It was a music-for-music exchange. At least he didn’t give me beans, beans, the musical fruit…

Rolf later told me he was going to move out of town on June 29th, but of course I made him change his mind.

My recent dream visitors have been Philip from Alamo and Soph from Octavia. Thanks for stopping by, and have a good weekend! I hope to have my New Leaf slideshow (for my 3rd year with the game) up by Sunday or Monday, so stay tuned for that!

Summer Solstice

Today is the summer solstice–the longest day of the year. In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, the daylight lasts all day (and night) long!

Isabelle: Hello, Mayor! Today is the Summer Solstice, so don't expect to see the moon at all tonight!
Video game logic.

More than anything else, the presence of fireflies really showcases how odd the night sun really is. The fireflies just seem so out of place.

Catching a firefly in broad daylight.

I made a trip to Arrested, where Michael/Beth and I used the special standee to stick our faces through a flower and the sun.

Michael and Jeff using the face-cutout standee for the summer solstice.Arrested resident Renée asked me why I was visiting another town in the middle of the night.

Renee: Jeff?! Who visits another town in the middle of the night...? Apparently you do, yo yo yo!
Why not? The daylight isn’t suspicious.

When I returned to Forest, Agent S told me how much she loved my eel. She must have seen the outline of it wriggling around in my pockets and thought “I want that!” She gave me 2,000 bells for it.

Agent S: Woohoo! I totally love your eel. What's your price? After picking up my ladder shades from Isabelle at the event plaza, I realized I didn’t mention where Julian moved in last time. He lives next to Hamlet in the southern part of town. This area was never very populated when Peck lived here. Coincidence? I think not.

Speaking of Julian, I had a medieval chat with him tonight.

Julian: Good eventide, Jeff! Finding the Summer Solstice to your liking, milord?Julian: ...OK, enough of that. I indulge in a little medieval talk once a year. Just to get it out of my system.Aurora told me she was going to move away on June 26th, but I quickly changed her mind for her.

Up at Able Sisters, I made a new Cavs pattern: It’s the CLE design from their “blackout” T-shirts.

My most recent dream visitor was Marie from Dragolin. Thanks for stopping by and I’ll see you next time!
