Island Grinding

Last night, I went out to the island for some bug-catching and fishing. The bugs I can catch there are far more valuable than what’s around town this time of year, and of course I’m able to catch sharks there too. So I loaded up my dock box, and when I returned, I had enough money to kick my bank account balance over 66 million bells.

Your current balance is 66,110,000 bells.Today, cherry blossom petals started falling from the sky. It’s a beautiful time of year to enjoy the scenery, even if New Leaf doesn’t have a Cherry Blossom Festival.

Cherry blossom petals falling from the sky.Saharah was in town, so I hired her to put in some new wallpaper and carpeting. She ultimately went with this chessboard rug and chain-link fence.

A chessboard rug and chain-link fence.I made another trip out to the island tonight, although I didn’t stay very long. I think I should get into the habit of doing this more often. It helps me work towards three badges at once by increasing my fish count, my bug count, and my bank account. 😉

My recent dream visitors have been Samzyy from Banana, Xavier from Quigley, and Jake from Florida. Thanks for visiting!

I’ll be back with another entry late tomorrow night; it’s Friday Night Forest! Anyone currently on my roster is welcome to come. See you then!

April Letters

Yesterday, I got a letter from Blanca congratulating me on my April Fools’ Day success. Blanca’s picture was included with the letter.

To Jeff: Your observation skills are something else! You really surprised me this year! I'm sending you this commemorative gift. -Blanca

And today, I got this letter from Daisy in the mail. She told me that one of her pen pals had to stop writing her because of hand cramps. Yeah, sure that’s the real reason. But Daisy gave me some stationery and asked me to take her place and become her new pen pal.

Dear Jeff, One of my pen pals had to stop writing me. So I was interested if you'd like to take her place? -Daisy

Now that I’ve earned the postmaster badge, I don’t write letters any more. Sorry, Daisy! I made sure to let her know right away.

Dear Daisy, Sorry, but I don't write letters. -From JeffLately, I’ve been converting some of my old ACCF designs into New Leaf patterns (using this helpful tool). With the NBA playoffs starting soon, I made sure to convert my two-part Cavaliers logo. The flag logos I’ve already been using in New Leaf are the Cavs’ secondary logo; this is the primary one.

My Cleveland Cavaliers logo pattern. It was a nice day in Forest today…so nice that Molly wanted to go sunbathing in a pond! And yes, “in a pond” is her new catchphrase.

Molly: It's so nice outside today, it kind of makes me feel like sunbathing, in a pond.I took an updated picture of my town map. As Meli pointed out to me the other night, Peck is all by himself in the lower part of town. Velma did live near him, but of course she’s gone now.

Map of Forest as of April 3, 2016.
I’m hoping Peck will get the message and leave.

If you didn’t visit my dream town on April Fools’ Day, here is a look at what you missed. Before uploading my dream town just after midnight on April Fools’ Day, I replaced my normal brick path with hundreds of Jambettes!

Jambette path for April Fools' Day!

I changed the path back before doing anything else on April Fools’ Day, so that Friday’s blog entry didn’t give away the surprise. And also because I didn’t want to have to look at all those Jambettes.

My recent dream visitors have been Alex from Pawnee, Jake from Twilight, Troy from Football, and Nat from Cicada. Thank you all for visiting! I hope the Jambette path didn’t scar you for life! 😉

April Fools’ Day 2016

Last night, Meli came over briefly to sell some perfect cherries (they were the premium item for the day).

Meli drops by for a visit. She posted a message on the bulletin board, warning my villagers not to mess with me. She even told them of my laser vision. I didn’t even know she knew about that!

Alright animals listen up. Jeff is the mayor. Don't you dare mess with him. I heard he has laser vision.

As of today, April is upon us. Some of the trees around town are now pink.

Pink trees.Blanca was at the event plaza to remind me that it’s April Fools’ Day.

Blanca: Yep, yep! It's April Fools' Day, the day of pranks and tricksters! And yes, that is April Fools’ Day and not April Fool’s Day (note the placement of the apostrophe). I’ve actually had it wrong for years…but I have Animal Crossing to blame. Animal Crossing games have listed the holiday as April Fool’s Day both on GameCube and in City Folk.

So it bugs me not only because I’ve had it wrong for all this time, but also because I didn’t notice it in New Leaf until now. This is the third April Fools’ Day since the game’s release, after all. Oh well. Hopefully I’ll remember it for next time.

As part of the day’s trickery, villagers will try to fool you. Aurora told me that if I make a store purchase of at least 500 bells, Tom Nook will dance for me.

Aurora: If you make a purchase of 500 bells or more, he'll do the famouse Nook Dance for you!

I then began my search for Blanca, who will appear as a clone of each villager in their houses. My first encounter occurred in Pashmina’s house. Both of them tried calling the other a doppelganger…but neither of them could pronounce (or spell) it correctly. So they ended up calling each other a wafflehanger and a waffle gangster.

Pashmina: Another me appeared outta nowhere! She's a doppel... wopple... waffle... Wafflehanger!Pashmina: Don't be fooled, dude! I'm the real deal! She's the... waffle gangster! Can't you tell?I knew the real Pashmina’s birthday was on December 26th, so I was able to tell which was which. I handed the faker a towel, and she washed off her face–revealing that it was really Blanca.

Blanca: I'm the fake one! That's a bummer! You figured out it was me! I was sure my disguise was perfect!Pashmina thanked me and gave me her picture. I then continued on, going from house to house. For most villagers, I knew either their birthday or their favorite quote, so I didn’t have much trouble. But then I got to Peck’s house.

Peck: What are you talking about! You're the fakebro...bro!Peck hasn’t had a birthday since he’s moved into town, and I haven’t received his picture, so I didn’t know his quote either. But when the two Pecks listed what they were good at, one said rock-paper-scissors and the other one said chugging milk. I took a guess, figuring that chugging milk would be wrong…and I was correct!

Blanca: I'm the fake one! Darn it. What gave me away? With Peck out of the way, I knew the last couple villagers would be no problem. And indeed, I got them all correct…just like last year. Interestingly, Dizzy was Blanca’s last victim both last year and this year.

When I went over by the desert, I spotted the faceless cat once again. Blanca congratulated me on figuring everything out, but also left me a warning to be prepared again next year.

Blanca: Just be prepared for next year, 'cause I'll be coming back strong!I went into my house to take a look at my two new villager pics. Pashmina’s favorite quote is “Before you judge someone, walk a mile in her hooves.”

Pashmina's pic: Before you judge someone, walk a mile in her hooves. And Peck’s favorite quote is “The best defense is a good offense.”

Peck's pic: The best defense is a good offense. And if you haven’t seen this (I’ve already posted it to Twitter and Tumblr), I have a little gift for all of you. Just scan this in Animal Crossing–it can be used in New Leaf or Happy Home Designer.

Special Animal Crossing QR code.I hope you all had a nice April Fools’ Day! See you next time!
