Dark Morning

On June 9th, Mira asked me to catch a rainbow stag for her. I thought my chances would be better out on the island, so I took Kapp’n’s boat ride across the sea. While I was there, I remembered I could do something I can’t normally do in New Horizons: Fish from the north shore.

Fishing from the north shore in Animal Crossing: New Leaf.

In New Horizons, you need to use fish bait to make fish spawn up there on your island.

Anyway, it took me longer than I expected, but I caught a rainbow stag for Mira. When I took it back to her, she rewarded me with a Tower of Pisa.

Mira: Well, looky here! That is one fine-lookin' rainbow stag!

On Saturday (June 15th), I was visiting Cube when he told me not to look in his mush dresser. So of course, I did look in his mush dresser. There was a robo-closet inside of it (somehow), and Cube let me keep it.

I got a robo-closet!

The Bug-Off competition was underway, so I grabbed a goliath beetle from my dock box. Nat gave it a nice, round 100-point score.

Nat, during the Bug-Off: 100 points!

That took over the top spot, and Nat gave me a snail clock as my reward. I later put it in my house. After the competition ended, I returned to Nat’s tent for the winners’ ceremony. I won 1st place, while Lolly finished in 2nd place, and Aurora was 3rd. ๐Ÿ™‚ Here we are holding our trophies:

Yesterday, Jeremiah said he could smell my Tower of Pisa. I didn’t know it had a scent, unless it was really a tower of pizza? Now that, I’d like to smell. But Jeremiah wanted me to trade it for his makeup case.

Jeremiah: Wanna trade it for my sweet, sweet makeup case?

I agreed to the trade, just to be nice. ๐Ÿ˜›

I found three dig spots right next to each other, and they were all fossils! Usually when this happens, one of them is a gyroid or pitfall, but all three were fossils this time.

Three dig spots in a cluster.

Mira asked to visit my house (yes, again), and I agreed to it (again). Up in my swampy room with all the frogs, Mira said my house smells just like me! Somehow, I don’t think that’s a compliment. ๐Ÿ˜†

Mira: Mmmmmm! This place is starting to smell just like you!

I showed her every room, and she left once we got to the last room (the basement). Today, she sent me a letter thanking me for having her over. She included a kiddie bed, which she encouraged me to use in my house.

It was raining pretty heavily today, and Aurora (for one) seemed to be enjoying it.

Aurora: Oh, good morning, Mr. J! Don't you find rainy mornings refreshing, in igloos?
In igloos, I might be afraid the rain would melt the ice blocks, which would fall on my head and kill me. But sure, it’s refreshing.

The sky was dark…really dark. Believe it or not, this picture was taken at 10:30 a.m.!

Raining and dark skies in Forest this morning.

I still haven’t made progress on getting any of the other villager pics I’ve been trying for lately. But I’m not giving up! One of these days I’ll have something to report. I hope. ๐Ÿ˜†

One last note for today: I’ve had several campers over the past week or so. That included Ed last Monday, Marcie on Tuesday, and Broccolo yesterday.

Ed, looking sus: Oh, I'm not anyone suspicious!
Marcie: I'm certainly going to enjoy the time I spend here. I hope we get to know each other!
Broccolo, at the campsite: You're from this town, aren't you? I'm having a great time camping here!

Mira’s Visit

On Monday, Mira asked to visit my house, and I let her come over. So she followed me home.

Mira follows me into my house.

She complimented my exotic bed, while also giving me a backhanded compliment. She said I have good taste, even though I don’t look like I do. ๐Ÿ˜‘

Mira: I just saw it in a magazine! Ya know, you don't look it...but you've got a lot of good taste! Cottontail!

She later called me a rich show-off. These visits sure seem to bring out the rudeness in villagers, don’t they?

Mira: I mean...what are you? Some kinda rich show-off? I'm nervous just being in here! Cottontail!

Inkwell asked me to fetch Jeremiah for him, and it was all just so that Inkwell could return an item (a racer tee) to him. Why couldn’t he just have me deliver it?

Inkwell, to Jeremiah: Umm... I just... It's about time I gave this back to you. I borrowed it a long time ago!

Inkwell gave me a western fence for helping out.

On Tuesday, Gulliver was in town (down on the beach). He told me he wanted to visit a country that’s very long and shaped like a boot. I knew he was talking about Italy, and he later sent me a Mouth of Truth in the mail.

Gulliver: All right, so the country I wanted to visit is very long and sort of shaped like a boot! Just like I wear!
Gulliver: You know what else is long? Pasta! Their pasta is so good, it'll make you tell off your mama!

Yesterday, Renee the rhino was camping at the campsite. I stopped in to say hello, and that’s about it. ๐Ÿ˜›

Renee, at the campsite: I'm Renee! And you're... Jeff? Nice to meet you!

Today, I had another camper: Drift the frog. He’s not a bad villager, but I do have him in Wild World at the moment. (And of course, my town here is still full.)

Drift, at the campsite: I was really focused on running. I ran and ran. And when I looked up, I was in this town!

Mira spotted my Mouth of Truth in my pockets, and she wanted me to trade it for a club tee. I agreed to the trade, even though I already had a club tee (and I was wearing it at the time)! But it seemed to make her happy, at least.

Mira: Your Mouth of Truth for my club tee?

When I visited Inkwell, he wanted to buy that extra club tee for 90 bells. I had no need for it, so I sold it to him. But when he turned around, I realized that the back of his head resembles the squid bumpers in his house! I’m not sure if those are gills or what, but Inkwell and the bumpers both have them.

Inkwell, looking like an orange squid bumper from behind.
I wonder if this causes him to be attacked from behind.

That’s all I have for now, but I’ll see you all in June! Never Stop Crossing! ๐Ÿ™‚

Inedible Coconut

On May 1st, Muffy the black sheep was camping out at the campsite. So I stopped in to say hello.

Muffy: I'm Muffy! And you're... Jeff? Nice to meet you!

The next day was May 2nd, and that was my town anniversary! It’s been 11 years since I became the mayor of Forest, so Isabelle dragged me off to a special ceremony. Interestingly, the attendees were asymmetrical; nobody else stood on the right side with Molly!

Isabelle: Without further ado, let us begin the ceremony to honor Mayor Jeff's 11 years of service!

I said a few words, we shot off some party poppers, and we had a good time (I suppose). ๐Ÿ˜›

Firing off party poppers at the anniversary event.

If you’d like to revisit that day, you can see my blog entry…or the video, which I almost forgot existed. ๐Ÿ˜›

A bit later, I shot down a balloon present that contained some roasted dino meat. Wow, how long has that been floating around up there? ๐Ÿ˜†

On May 6th, Mira asked me for some new furniture that would surprise Rolf and anyone else who drops by her place. So I gave the roasted dino meat to her. That will surely give Rolf a surprise! He’ll probably want to dig right in!

Mira: Oh! Some roasted dino meat? Good call!
She rewarded me with an astro closet.

Speaking of digging, Boots asked me to dig up his time capsule today. I did, and he found a sweat-soaked red-check tee inside. Why is it still sweat-soaked after several weeks in the ground?

Boots: Ha ha! Want an old, sweat-soaked red-check tee of mine?

Of course, that sopping wet shirt was my reward for burying and digging up the time capsule. Oh joy.

Saharah was in town, and I hired her to install some new wallpaper and carpeting…after we ran back to my house, of course.

Me and Saharah running to my house.
It’s fun making her run in this game. ๐Ÿ˜†

She installed this music-room wall and parquet floor.

Aurora asked me for some fruit tonight, so I gave her a coconut that I already had in my pockets. But to my surprise, she turned it down. She said she can’t eat a coconut!

Aurora: I know this is technically fruit...but it'd hurt my mouth to eat it!

But the most shocking part was that this ended the request! I was going to give her some bananas that I also had in my pockets, but she no longer had an option to give her fruit! Oof. I don’t know why she couldn’t accept an alternate fruit! That’s kind of annoying.

Aurora: I hope you can bring me a fruit I can actually eat next time.
Why not now? You’re still hungry, aren’t you?

I recently posted my annual slideshow of best New Leaf screenshots. Check it out if you’d like; it’s the 11th Year in Pictures.

Have a good day, everyone. I’ll see you next time!
