When I started up the game today, Pete handed me a letter from Nintendo. It was a fan letter! In a way. Now through May 23rd, the general’s fan is available as a download at Nintendo Zone locations. It’s an item that was previously only available in the Japanese version of the game.
I made sure to pick up my general’s fan at the post office.
I still wasn’t sure exactly what the item was, so I headed to the Emporium to look at it in the catalog. Unfortunately, it’s not a fan that you can hold in your hand–it’s a furniture item, and an odd one at that. On the bright side, it can be ordered from the catalog for just 1,600 bells.
I put it in my house to see if it did anything, but no luck. It’s just for decoration.
Back in Town…
I met up with Daisy, and she offered to sell me a sand dollar! It’s not very often villagers will give you seashells.
Aurora asked me to play a game of hide-and-seek. I had ten minutes to find two penguins and a duck.
Sprinkle was the first bird I found, with a horrible hiding spot “behind” the Sphinx. In reality, she was completely visible.
And yet she thought her hiding place was perfect! Perhaps she had a brain freeze.
I then found Molly hiding behind Daisy’s house and Aurora was hiding behind a tree near the fountain.
Aurora gave me a CD shelf for finding them all before time ran out.
Later, Merka came over for a short visit and then I also went to her town for a while. I sold a bunch of perfect peaches and then we headed out for the island. When I told Kapp’n not to sing, he called me a shanty hater!
We went on a bunch of advanced price-fishing tours, earning gold Tortimer awards every time except once. (The one time we failed, we missed by gold by only 125 bells). But we racked up a bunch of medals.
Once we reached the threshold for gold Tortimer awards, we got axes from Lloid the gyroid and started cutting down trees.

I don’t think I’ve ever gone on as many consecutive tours as we did tonight. I wasn’t keeping track of how many medals we earned…so if you asked me for the exact number, I would be stumped.

It took me a while to track him down. But when I did, I found that he wasn’t here to give me the badge for island medals like I was expecting. Instead, he gave me the Goodwill Ambassador badge for inviting many people to my town. Friday Night Forest apparently pushed me over the threshold.
It was my 11th gold badge. Here is an updated look at all of my current badges:
Today is Mother’s Day, and “Mom” sent me a letter with a pink carnation attached. Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms (and mums) out there!
I found Joan this morning, but I had a lot of trouble locking her in to a confined space. I eventually trapped her up against the Sphinx. She was selling turnips for 91 bells, and I bought 3,100 of them.
Later on, I found Peck in the campsite. I actually had Drake the duck at my campsite yesterday, so it’s been a birdy weekend. Of course my town is full, so I couldn’t invite either of them in. As for Peck, I think his eyes frighten me.
Up at the Dream Suite, Luna told me that Lola from Awesome was my most recent dream visitor.
Saharah was in town, and she put in this cityscape wall and ancient tile. I like both of them (but not together), although I already had them both in storage.
Up at the Dream Suite, Luna told me Breanna from Lunavila was my most recent dream visitor. Yesterday’s visitor was Ava from Forest.
At 10:00, I opened my gate for Friday Night Forest. T Zelda and Merka came over to play. TZ told me she was dressed as the Mario Kart 8 Villager, and Merka appeared to be a ship captain.
Merka enjoyed some coffee on the bench.
And Agent S was just complaining about the rain.
We went out to the island for a couple of tours, starting with a bug-catching tour. We earned a gold Tortimer award and 12 medals; TZ caught the most bugs, so she got 6 additional medals as a bonus.
We then went on a gardening tour, where we earned a silver Tortimer award and seven medals. After that, Merka had to leave, so we returned to Forest.
We went around shaking trees, collecting coins, and I also rounded up some fruit to sell. Around 11:00, TZ left and I ended my game for the night.
