Loading Up On Turnips

Last night, I finally got Rolf to ping me. He was going to move out on August 26th, but of course I changed his mind for him.

Rolf: Oh, you're gonna try and stop me?!And this morning, I tracked down Joan so that I could buy some turnips. She was selling them for 108 bells each, which is high, but I still bought 3,100 of them as planned. That’s enough to fill the three pages of my storage that I’ve cleared out, plus one bundle to keep in my pockets. That one will serve as a reminder that I need to keep checking turnip prices all week.

Joan: The asking price is 108 bells per turnip. What do you think, kiddo?Near my house, I found a gem rock. Unfortunately, my Re-Tail is still full of gems from last time, so I just left these here for now.

My haul from the gem rock.I somehow offended Sprinkle, without even trying. She said I looked surprised that she had a shower. I just figured she would run through a sprinkler instead.

Sprinkle: Uh...you look kinda surprised that I have a shower. It was quite a sunny day in Forest, and Octavian seemed to be enjoying it. I actually thought he’d prefer rain.

Octavian: How about this weather, huh? It's like the sun's take a...shine...to us! You get it? Sucker!Up at the Dream Suite, Luna told me that Pikachu from the town of Pancake was my most recent dream visitor. That’s an interesting combination.

After the sun went down, I returned to my game to watch some fireworks.

Watching fireworks from the dock.I spoke with Octavian again, and he told me he enjoyed fireworks more than he could explain.

Octavian: When I see a really huge firework, I can't help but smile. I don't have a good reason. I just like fireworks.I also talked with Isabelle, who was hanging out at the event plaza. She gave me a flower bopper to wear.

Isabelle: When you wear that flower bopper, you'll shine just as bright as the fireworks!I put it on and enjoyed some more of the fireworks. Here you can also see my town tree.

Fireworks, my town tree, Isabelle, and Crazy Redd's stand.I finished up my night by giving away five pink roses to MistyIce. I delivered them to her town Tia Time.

Visiting MistyIce's town.I didn’t open my gate tonight, but I will be opening next Sunday (August 31st) for the final fireworks festival of the year.

Virgo Harp DLC

August 23rd marks the beginning of the Virgo zodiac sign, and for that reason, a Virgo harp DLC item is now available. Ask Pelly or Phyllis for it at the post office to get yours.

Pelly: Sorry to keep you waiting! I hope you enjoy your new Virgo harp!Once you have it, you’ll be able to order more at any time through the Nooklings’ catalog. It costs 4,800 bells.

Virgo harp - 4,800 bellsWhen I checked my mail, I found a letter from Madisyn. She thinks she’s going to steal Agent S and Big Top from me. HA! Never! You must be Mad.

Jeff, AGENT S AND BIG TOP WILL BE MINE. MUAHHHHHAAA. -MAD personAs I made my way around town to water flowers, Aurora asked me to play a game of hide-and-seek. I agreed to play, and she gave me ten minutes to find her, Rolf, and Big Top.

Aurora: If you can find all of us within 10 minutes, you win!The first villager I found was Big Top. He was hiding behind his own house!

Big Top: No! How'd you find me?! I was in super-stealth mode and everything!About two minutes later, I found Rolf hiding behind the zen bell. He’s lucky I didn’t ring the bell in his ear!

Rolf: ...Heh! I guess you found me!I then found Aurora hiding behind Drago’s house.

Aurora: Eek! You found me! I thought I'd be safe here, but you saw right through my plan!I won the game, and Aurora said I deserve a washbasin. Is she trying to tell me something?

Aurora: Now, here's your reward: a washbasin! You deserve it, iceberg!A couple of my villagers have told me that Rolf plans on moving out of town! But Rolf has not pinged me yet, so I haven’t been able to tell him to stay. I’m going to keep looking for him until I make sure his cage is locked up nice and tight.

Later on, Aurora told me she’d like to relax with me at my house.

Aurora: I've always wanted to just relax and talk with you at your place, ham!But when I told her to come over, she didn’t want to come right away. She wanted to schedule a time. That would mean keep playing the game for another hour, or turn it off and risk forgetting. I just told her to forget the whole thing. Maybe another time, penguin.

Later on, I sold some perfect peaches at Wendy’s town.

Reese: Well then...I could probably part with 216,000 bells for all of it, if that sounds OK with you?We then hopped back to Forest. Wendy wanted to buy some bushes that were on sale in my island gift shop. We also went on a scavenger hunt tour.

Tortimer: And don't even think about bringing me something that's not listed. I may be old, but I'm not dumb!We earned a gold Tortimer award and 13 medals for our hard work. After returning to the mainland, I used the megaphone in Wendy’s ear.

Jeff: YOU ARE NOW DEAF!She started blowing her tweeter at me, and I pushed her off the dock. But before she fell into the water, I saw her swimming in mid-air for a second or two!

Wendy air-swimming.We then did a little swimming and diving before I ended the session.

Jeff and Wendy swimming.Just a reminder that Saturday is K.K. night! Be sure to head up to Club LOL to get your free song from the singing dog. (And also, get one step closer to the K.K. badges if you don’t have them already). I’ll be back with more tomorrow! See you then!

Rolf’s Birthday

Gulliver sent me an Eiffel Tower in the mail from France today. And when I went to the cafe, Lolly came in for some coffee…for the first time ever.

Lolly: I'd like a cup of coffee, please. It was Rolf’s birthday, so I paid him a visit. Octavian was also there, helping him celebrate.

Rolf celebrates his birthday with me and Octavian.Rolf asked if I brought him a gift…of course I did! A brand new Eiffel Tower! He didn’t seem exactly thrilled with it, but he was trying to be polite about it.

Rolf: Oh, an Eiffel Tower? Well that's something I don't have a lot of experience with...Before I left his house, I danced the Shrunk Funk Shuffle. Happy birthday, Rolf!

Jeff dancing at Rolf's party. After making my walk around town, I went up to Main Street. In the Dream Suite, Luna told me that Sophie from Starfall was my most recent dream visitor. And in the post office, I deposited some money and my bank account balance topped 18 million bells.

Your current balance is 18,020,000 bells.Shortly after 10:00, I opened my gate for Friday Night Forest. Madisyn came over for a visit.

Madisyn arrives in Forest.I noticed that Rolf’s party was over with…at least while the gate was open. I visited with Octavian, and he asked if I have ever been overseas. I said no, and he said he hasn’t traveled much either. And yet his house is filled with space items, including a space shuttle, UFO, and a lunar lander. You can’t fool me, alien!

Octavian: Oh? Really? Truth is, I haven't been to too many places, either...Up on Main Street, Rory immediately got defensive. He told me he’s not a criminal, but I know he’s lion.

Rory: This is not a case of the criminal returning to the scene of the crime!Madisyn and I went to the Roost to get some coffee; I got mine to go.

Jeff drinking coffee outdoors. After catching some bugs and fish, we started to do some glitching.

Standing on the flower clock.I also sat on the bench…and took up the whole thing.

Madisyn: MOVE YOUR BIG BUTT!I eventually let her sit down for a moment, but we soon resumed glitching.

Standing on the Roost. We also glitched onto the tracks, and then off the bridge.

Madisyn and Jeff standing in the ocean. But before we could get down into the void, Madisyn had to leave. So I ended the session and reopened the gate. After a little while, Jessica came over to visit. I was expecting her to bring food, but she said she already ate it. So I got my axe out.

Jessica: I ate it already.Of course, it wasn’t long before we started beating each other with our hammers.

A toy hammer fight.Jessica could only withstand so much brain damage, so she stepped off the dock. She then started to go fishing to catch a shark…a shark that I didn’t see. I thought it was just the head injury making her see things…but she actually caught a shark. Fittingly enough, it was a hammerhead! She then suggested that maybe I was the one with the brain injury, since I didn’t see the shark in the first place. So I decided maybe I should call a dock-tor.

After we were done killing each other, we went out to the island for some tours. We started off with an ancient fish encoun-tour. Jessica got off to a good start, while I was having trouble finding any good fish. She even asked if I was still alive at one point. I believe she got off to a 4-1 lead, at least.

But in the final minute or two, I was finally getting on a roll and catching some big ancient fish. Right as time expired, a caught a coelacanth. By the time the text popped up on the screen, the game had already been over for at least 5 seconds. But apparently, it still counted. We ended up tied, and I was a bit excited about catching up after that awful start.

Jeff: COMEBACK OF THE YEAR!But after that, we went on a balloon-popping tour…and she beat me. I usually do really good at the balloon tours, but the awful bridge placement ended up costing me in the end.

After that, I chose a bug-catching tour. But what I didn’t realize was it was a hidden bug-catching tour. In other words, only “hidden” bugs count. Things like the walking stick on trees, or bugs that hide under rocks. I was disappointed when I realized what I had done. I normally don’t notice the walking sticks until it’s too late, but I made sure to look out for them. And it paid off, as I narrowly beat Jessica.

Tortimer: Jeff gets 4 medals, and Jessica gets 1 medal!Jessica had to go at this point. So we ended up completely tied on the night: One win, one loss, one draw. We returned to Forest, where I gave her a goodbye hammer smack to the head.

Jessica: This is our greeting now.I then ended the session for the night. Have a good weekend, everyone! I’ll be back with another blog entry tomorrow, so I hope to see you then!
