Benedict’s Goodbye

Re-Tail was selling turnips for 171 bells this morning, so I decided to cash in my 1,000 turnips.

Reese: Well then...I could probably part with 171,000 bells for all of it, if that sounds OK with you? When I talked to Big Top, he asked me to return an item to Rolf. Sure, no problem. I found Rolf in front of my metal bench, but he pinged me and asked me for an orange. I gave him a perfect orange and he loved it.

Rolf: Thanks to you, I ended up tasting something truly delicious! He rewarded me with a tiki torch. I then talked to him again and gave him the delivery from Big Top. He gave me his picture! Again!

Rolf: It's Rolf's pic! I think it's worth a decent price! Take good car of it, tiger!I now have four Rolf’s pics! (And still none of Big Top).

My four pictures of Rolf. Thanks to yesterday’s tip from PRT, I found out I could customize the stewpot I got from the igloo. I could change the menu to curry, consumme’, or borscht. I decided to give the curry a try.

Cyrus: The menu gets the ol' Curry design... Sure! Got it!It takes Cyrus half an hour to do the cooking customizing, so in the meantime, I went to say goodbye to Benedict. Today is his last day in Forest, and he’s all packed up and ready to go.

Benedict: I'll just say so long!I spotted Crazy Redd’s tent, and I took a chance on this perfect painting.

Redd: I see! Ya seem to be really close to that perfect painting, yeah?A bit later on, the curry was complete, so I picked up my stewpot.

My stewpot customized with curry. After that, I found today’s snowballs and rolled up a flawed snowboy. I also went up to the Dream Suite, where I learned that Maria from Lakewood was my most recent dream visitor.

Tom and I decided to see if we were able to connect (since we had trouble last time). So first, I went to his town and we connected on the first try. I stopped to check his bingo snowmen.

Tom's bingo snowmen. And in his house, he showed me the snow machine he got from scoring a bingo. It was pretty cool the way it spits out snow. Most of the ski set doesn’t interest me much, but this snow machine sure does. I can’t wait to get one for myself.

Tom's snow machine.I then invited him to my town so he could get #8 punched off his bingo card from my snowman. When he saw Redd’s tent, he told me to stand behind it and press up (so that the tent disappears). He then went into the tent, and it looked as if he disappeared. Then when he came back out, his silhouette appeared out of nowhere.

Tom's silhouette. It was late for him, so I ended the party. But as soon as I came out of the train station, Phineas was there with a new badge for me! He gave me the Great Host badge, for having 200 Wi-Fi visitors. Tom was #200 apparently, although that’s only because it didn’t count Wendy’s visit the other day for some reason.

I got the Great Host badge! I'm really happy to have had so many visitors!Skye asked me to collect signatures to ban bubble gum on benches. But nobody on my friend roster had an open gate except for Tiffiny, and I was unable to connect to her town today.

I eventually found Saarah, who offered to open her gate for me. So I headed off to her town, SQville.

Visiting Saarah. She helped me track down six of her villagers to sign the petition. Erik the reindeer provided the sixth and final signature I needed.

Erik: It's all signed! Oh! Looks like my signature was the last one!I headed back to the train station after posing for this picture.

Jeff and Saarah. Thanks again, Saarah! Once I got back to Forest, I took a look at the completed petition. T-Bone, Sterling, Poppy, Flo, Violet, and Erik were the animals who supported the cause.

Petition signatures: T-Bone, Sterling, Poppy, Flo, Violet, Erik.I took the petition back to Skye and she rewarded me with an Arc de Triomphe. It’s not her picture, but it’s not a bad reward.

Skye: It's an Arc de Triomphe. That's my way of saying thanks! It used to be a Gulliver item, at least on GameCube.

The Arc de Triomphe item in New Leaf.On the friend exchange page, I saw someone (Brittany/Leah) looking for a new villager. I asked if she wanted Benedict, and she said yes. So I let her come over and she adopted him. I like Benedict, so it’s good to see him find a new home.

That’s all I have for now, but I’ll be back with more tomorrow. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Snow Bunny & Stewpot

I got a letter in the mail from Snowtyke. He sent me this snow bunny.

My new snow bunny.Back in the GameCube game, the snow bunny used to be an igloo item. But speaking of igloos, Tangy was in one today. I played one of her games, where she would list five items one at a time and I had to buy one of them. The fourth item was a stewpot, so I bought it, despite the hefty price tag.

Tangy: For your approval, the fourth item! It's a stewpot, and I'll part with it for 3,968 bells.I took it to my house to take a look at it. Delicious!

My stewpot.Gulliver was down on the beach, talking about a country that had lots of motorcycles and condensed milk. I had no idea, so I took a wild guess and I was wrong.

Gulliver: ...Somehow, I think that's wrong. After I watered my flowers, I did a shopping run. Alex from “oak town” was my most recent dream visitor, and I bought a telescope at T&T Emporium. I had taken three gold nuggets to Cyrus, and he turned them into a golden closet. It was a duplicate, as usual. But honestly, I’m not sure what piece of the golden set I still need! So I need to look into that sometime soon.

I decided to take a boat ride out to the island to escape the cold weather. I went on a hide-and-seek tour, where I found my favorite Animal Crossing superhero, Agent S.

Agent S: You found me!I went to visit Big Top, and he was talking about how his sea bass was his pal. Hmmph. I wonder if he gave the sea bass his picture.

Big Top: So even though I DO love seafood, I would NEVER eat my pal sea bass!Anyway, I kept talking to Big Top over and over until he wouldn’t talk any more. Next week will mark 8 months since he moved into town, and I’m still trying for his picture.

As I was heading back for a final stop at Re-Tail, Rolf asked me to catch a pill bug for him…because his net has a hole in it. You don’t say.

Rolf: Any chance you can snag one for me? My, uh, bug net has a hole in it.I agreed to help him out, since pill bugs are pretty common. I only had to bang three rocks to get one. Anyway, I just want to say that there’s no Friday Night Forest this week. But tomorrow is Benedict’s last day in town, and there will still be a blog entry, so check back for that.

New Year’s Day

Pete met me outside of my house today and gave me a letter from Nintendo. It contained a new DLC item, which is another Japanese item called a kagamimochi.

Pete: I have an express delivery for you from Nintendo. There was also another DLC item, a sunrise lamp, available at the post office. Here is a picture of both items; the kagamimochi is next to me and the sunrise lamp is on the wall.

January 2014 DLC: The kagamimochi and sunrise lamp.Fortunately, both items can be re-ordered from the catalog. As I made my way around town, I talked to Tabby. She told me that her new year’s resolution was to be more sparkly. I guess she’s turning into a vampire.

Tabby: Happy New Year! Got any resolutions? One of mine is to be more sparkly this year!Rolf asked me for an orange, so I gave him a perfect one. He liked it so much that he almost choked on it.

Rolf: ...Urk! HACK HACK COUGH! I got so excited, I swallowed some the wrong way!He gave me a rubber tree as a reward. Over by the event plaza, Isabelle was standing there once again today. She started talking about horses, and I didn’t understand why at first. But then I realized 2014 is the year of the horse in the Chinese zodiac.

Isabelle: Horses work so hard for us, but they don't really get a special day just for them. She then gave me a zodiac horse to mark New Horse Year’s Day.

The zodiac horse.
Look at my horse. My horse is amazing.

Today was my day to build a snowtyke, so I did. The snowtyke and the snowman seem to be the easiest snowpeople to build, at least for me. He commented on how his mom looks weird, and she immediately grounded him.

Snowtyke: Mom looks a little weird, but other than that we're a great snowfamily! That’s actually a good thing for me though, because it means I should be getting a different item from him in the mail tomorrow. But we’ll see. Here is a picture of the full snowfamily.

The snowfamily in town.Late last night, I was (indirectly) reminded on Tumblr that I could purchase extra hats from Crazy Redd. Not everyone has the same color hats in their towns, so I thought buying a few extras would be a good idea. For now, I put one of each up for sale in my Re-Tail. So any of my Wi-Fi visitors can buy them if they need them.

New Year's hats on sale at Re-Tail.Later on, Wendy and I played on Wi-Fi for the first time in quite a while. First, she visited my town. She sold some fruit and went shopping. I’m starting to buy some items just for the purpose of having them listed in my catalog (even if they can’t be ordered from the catalog). So I bought these cow clothes and Wendy and I both had the same idea.

Jeff and Wendy, in unison: Moo.And we took a picture over at the New Year’s Day face cutout standee. What a couple of firecrackers.

Using the New Year's day face cutout standee.I noticed it was almost 8:00, so we waited a minute or two for the modern clock to come to life. Happy New Hour!

Jeff: Happy new hour!We then headed to Wendy’s town, Oakville. I went to her Re-Tail and sold 54 perfect peaches for 162,000 bells. I talked with Kabuki a few times; I want to steal him, but Wendy won’t let me.

Kabuki: I'm happy I get to start off the new year by seeing your energetic smile, Jeff! Glad you're my friend! After hanging out for a while, I returned home to Forest and ended my game. I hope your New Year’s Day was a good one! I’ll be back with more tomorrow, so please visit again!
