Pete met me outside of my house today and gave me a letter from Nintendo. It contained a new DLC item, which is another Japanese item called a kagamimochi.
There was also another DLC item, a sunrise lamp, available at the post office. Here is a picture of both items; the kagamimochi is next to me and the sunrise lamp is on the wall.
Fortunately, both items can be re-ordered from the catalog. As I made my way around town, I talked to Tabby. She told me that her new year’s resolution was to be more sparkly. I guess she’s turning into a vampire.
Rolf asked me for an orange, so I gave him a perfect one. He liked it so much that he almost choked on it.
He gave me a rubber tree as a reward. Over by the event plaza, Isabelle was standing there once again today. She started talking about horses, and I didn’t understand why at first. But then I realized 2014 is the year of the horse in the Chinese zodiac.
She then gave me a zodiac horse to mark New Horse Year’s Day.

Today was my day to build a snowtyke, so I did. The snowtyke and the snowman seem to be the easiest snowpeople to build, at least for me. He commented on how his mom looks weird, and she immediately grounded him.
That’s actually a good thing for me though, because it means I should be getting a different item from him in the mail tomorrow. But we’ll see. Here is a picture of the full snowfamily.
Late last night, I was (indirectly) reminded on Tumblr that I could purchase extra hats from Crazy Redd. Not everyone has the same color hats in their towns, so I thought buying a few extras would be a good idea. For now, I put one of each up for sale in my Re-Tail. So any of my Wi-Fi visitors can buy them if they need them.
Later on, Wendy and I played on Wi-Fi for the first time in quite a while. First, she visited my town. She sold some fruit and went shopping. I’m starting to buy some items just for the purpose of having them listed in my catalog (even if they can’t be ordered from the catalog). So I bought these cow clothes and Wendy and I both had the same idea.
And we took a picture over at the New Year’s Day face cutout standee. What a couple of firecrackers.
I noticed it was almost 8:00, so we waited a minute or two for the modern clock to come to life. Happy New Hour!
We then headed to Wendy’s town, Oakville. I went to her Re-Tail and sold 54 perfect peaches for 162,000 bells. I talked with Kabuki a few times; I want to steal him, but Wendy won’t let me.
After hanging out for a while, I returned home to Forest and ended my game. I hope your New Year’s Day was a good one! I’ll be back with more tomorrow, so please visit again!
And of course Isabelle was there, next to the big countdown clock. She was handing out sparkling cider.
I took a sip to try it out.
But the big event was still hours away, so I walked around town to do my normal tasks. I spotted Phineas, and he gave me the Villager of Honor badge for playing 500 hours!
I built a snowman and got a new bingo card. I also spoke with the snowtyke, who was on his last legs. So to speak. He asked me not to step on him.
I went up to Main Street for my shopping run, and Luna told me that Jamie from Whimsy was my most recent dream visitor. After I was done, I turned New Leaf off for a while. But after 11 p.m., I started the game up again. When I would talk to villagers now, they would put on their New Year’s hats.
And Tabby laid some words of wisdom on me. Well, not really. Just another of her Tabby-isms.
I opened my gate at 11:30 and Patty came over to visit. But we got disconnected soon after. So I changed some router settings and reopened my gate; she came to visit again. She stayed a little bit, but had to go shortly before midnight. Right as she was about to leave, we got disconnected once again.
The clock counted down the final seconds of 2013. Three, two, one…HAPPY NEW YEAR!
The fireworks began and I finished off my cider.
As Isabelle said, LONG LIVE FOREST!
Even though I didn’t have any human visitors, I still kept getting disconnected from time to time. And that’s not something that used to happen, so these connection problems are getting really frustrating lately. Eventually, I gave up on opening the gate and just sat on my bench to enjoy the fireworks.
Have a happy new year, everyone! I hope you have a great 2014!
I dug up a tootoid today (that’s the farting gyroid). I decided to display it in Club LOL, so I headed up to Main Street to make the change.
While I was in the shopping district, I stopped in the Dream Suite to update my dream. Luna told me that Kacey from Twinkies was my most recent dream visitor. And T&T Emporium was starting to look like Best Buy, with two TVs on display right next to each other.
Back in town, I went looking for snowballs. I was trying to build a snowboy this time…and I did. But it wasn’t a good one.
And my snowtyke was talking about how much he admired child actors.
My face-cutout standee was still displaying my gravestone, which was really out of season. So I decided to make a new one for New Year’s, where your head makes the zero in 2014. I’m not very artistic, so it doesn’t look all that great, but at least it’s not a Halloween decoration. 😛
If you want the pattern for your face-cutout standee, you can scan the code from my
