Inkwell’s Time Capsule

On June 4th, I received a letter from Inkwell thanking me for attending his party. He sent me a big-dot tee. Later that day, he asked me to bury another time capsule for him.

Inkwell: Hey, Jeff! Go bury my time capsule for me!

It was raining on June 16th, and Inkwell told me that he just lets the rain wash his sweat away, so that he doesn’t have to shower. And yet, he was holding an umbrella.

Inkwell: I don't even have to take a shower when it rains. I can just let the rain wash the sweat off!

I always thought it was silly that frogs don’t hold umbrellas in New Leaf, and yet, octopi do. An octopus needs to be in water more than a frog does!

Yesterday, Inkwell said it was time to dig up the time capsule. So I did.

Look! I dug up a time capsule!

I returned it to him, and he found an old, sweat-soaked beaded shirt. Why does this guy talk about sweating so much? 😛

Inkwell: Ha ha! Want an old, sweat-soaked beaded shirt of mine?

He gave me a modern cabinet for helping him out.

I couldn’t help but notice that peacock butterflies only sell for 220 bells in this game. I had forgotten that fact; in New Horizons, they sell for 2,500 bells. I wonder what happened between games that made them jump in value. 🦋 😛

Reese: Ooh, a peacock butterfly! I can take that item off your hands for 220 bells, if that's OK?

Today, Boots asked me for a piece of fruit. I gave him a perfect peach, and it was jaw-droppingly good.

Boots: Oh my gosh! This stuff is so tasty!

He must’ve been over the moon, because he rewarded me with a lunar rover. 😉

Inkwell wanted some new furniture to replace his greenhouse box. I grabbed a handwashing area out of storage and gave it to him. He loved it!

Inkwell: Wow! A handwashing area! It's perfect!

He rewarded me with a plush carpet. I still haven’t earned his pic yet, but I’ll keep trying!

Inkwell’s Birthday

On May 22nd, Rolf asked me to dig up his time capsule. So I did.

Look! I dug up a time capsule!

When I took it back to Rolf, he opened it up and found an argyle knit shirt inside. But surprisingly, that shirt was not my reward! Instead, he gave me an alpine shelf. Nice. Furniture is always better than clothing.

Rolf: Man, I owe you some thanks! here, have my alpine shelf!

When I started up the game tonight, I found a letter from Inkwell in the mail. He invited me to his birthday party on June 2nd–that’s today! I didn’t even realize it was his birthday! So I headed over to his party and gave him a lefty lucky cat that I got in a letter from Mom.

Inkwell: Oh, wow! This is a really nice lefty lucky cat!

He said he’ll have to think about what to give me in return. I’ll probably get it in the mail next time. Anyway, Molly was also enjoying herself at the party.

Molly: Inkwell seems to be having a great time! I think we can call this a successful birthday party.

But happy birthday to Inkwell! This was his first birthday in town, and it was just a freak happy accident that I made it to his party! 😛

Boots had a flea on him, and I caught it. He had a hard time accepting the fact that a flea was “sucking carbs” out of him. That’s an odd way of looking at it…

Boots: Oooooooh, barbells! How could this happen? Imagine, a flea sucking the carbs right out of me!

Lolly’s Pic!

Last night, Lolly told me she was looking for some new furniture to replace her bow. I gave her a kiddie bureau, and she loved it. In return, she gave me her photo!!! Wow!

Lolly: Here's my Lolly's pic! Thank you so much for helping me!

I could hardly believe it! I’ve been trying to earn this since Lolly moved into town back in 2018! I put the pic in my house…not into storage with my other pics. Lolly’s favorite quote is “Laughter is the best medicine.”

I decided to celebrate by doing something I haven’t done in years: Putting in a new public works project (PWP)! I believe my last one was the geyser, which I installed back in 2016. This time, I looked through the list and decided on a statue fountain.

The hard part was picking a location for it. But I eventually decided to place it near a bend in the river, in front of the Roost, and close to where Claudia recently lived. I paid off the very reasonable 88,000-bell fee, and then started up the game again today to attend the completion ceremony. Aurora, Lolly, Big Top, and Agent S joined me and Isabelle.

Isabelle: Welcome to the grand completion ceremony for Forest's vital statue fountain project!

Later on, Hornsby asked me to play a game of hide-and-seek. He gave me 15 minutes to find him, Big Top, and Lolly. I quickly found Lolly behind a tree near the campsite and Hornsby hiding behind his own house.

Hornsby: Yikes! Chap!

Once I circled around town, I also found Big Top hiding in the worst spot of all: behind the Sphinx.

It only took me four minutes to find them all. Hornsby congratulated me and rewarded me with a modern wood sofa.
