Tarantula!

Late last night, I played some New Leaf while I was lying in bed. (That’s one advantage of portable systems). Aurora suggested a flower bed as a public works project.

Aurora: Would you consider commissioning a flower bed as the next public works project? It actually just looks like a 3×3 square of dirt, so I think I’ll pass on that.

Anyway, Molly told me that she put up a scarecrow and she said that Tabby talks to it! For some reason, I’m not surprised by that.

Molly: But sometimes Tabby starts talking to the scarecrow without realizing it's not me.And just before I was about to shut down the 3DS and go to bed, I finally saw what I’ve been looking for: a tarantula! I backed up a bit so it wouldn’t charge me as I got my net out, then I walked up to it and swung. I got it! VICTORY!!

I caught a tarantula! WHAAAA! Destroy it!I immediately went up to the museum to donate the tarantula. Here it is, fighting with its adversary, the scorpion.

The tarantula fighting with a scorpion in the bug room at the museum. When I started up the game today, it was pouring rain.

Heavy rain falls on my New Leaf house. But for the first time in New Leaf, I didn’t care! For one thing, I have lots of flowers now, so a break from watering them is welcome. Also, now that I have a tarantula already, I don’t have to keep hoping for clear weather to catch one.

Over in Re-Tail, I saw Rolf’s drum set for sale. I’m pretty sure he bought it from Re-Tail used when Katt was selling it a while back. I decided to buy it, in the hopes that Rolf cleaned it off since Katt had it. After all, Katt plays the drums with the same paws she uses to walk in her litter box.

Reese: Oh, the drum set? This item belongs to Rolf from here in Forest.Since I just had my house expanded the other day, I figured it was time to put in another town project. I decided to put in a flower clock, just south of town hall–and right behind my bench. I’m trying to turn this area in the southwest corner of town into a nice park. It’s going to look really nice when it’s finished.

The spot I picked out for my flower clock PWP, behind my yellow bench and in front of town hall.It was surprisingly affordable, so I paid it off on the spot. It will be done tomorrow.

Isabelle: We've met our collection goal for the flower clock project! It should be complete tomorrow!I then saw Benedict; I spoke to him, and he again asked if he should really move out of town. This time, I asked him to stay…and it worked.

Benedict: Hm... Well, now that I know you feel that way, maybe I won't move after all, boss.My friend Wendy came over to shop, and we made a quick trip to the island. We did one scavenger hunt tour, which I used to scoop up as many flowers as I could. After we returned, I plopped the flowers down around my wind turbine near my new park.

Benedict’s Unpopular Decision

After starting up the game today, I went in to check on my new room. I moved a few pieces of furniture in there to get things started.

My new left room, with just a few pieces of furniture to get me started. After that, I went to the Roost to work a shift and also to drink some coffee.  But for some reason, it had an acidic taste and fruity scent? I don’t know what Brewster is trying to pull, but that is not coffee!

Acidic taste matched with a lovely fruity scent... It's amazing!Back outside, Benedict approached me. He wanted to move out. I’m kind of neutral towards Benedict, but it’s been a while since I got a new villager, so I didn’t try to stop him.

Benedict: I'm leaving on the 27th of this month! There was a summer camper in town, so I went to see who was in the tent. It was Gigi. She said maybe we’ll be neighbors someday. Oh no, we absolutely will not!

Gigi: Who knows? Maybe someday you and I will be neighbors!I quickly left the tent without playing any games or talking to her any more. I then ran into Katt (oh joy), and to my surprise, she was concerned about the thought that Benedict might be moving!

Katt: Hmmm... It doesn't really seem like something he'd do, ya know? Waddle?Aurora asked me a few questions and then determined that I needed cotton candy.

Aurora: According to your answers, you only need one thing to be truly happy. And that's...cotton candy!Over by my town tree, Gracie was there again! It’s weird that I went over two months without seeing her at all, and then she shows up twice within eight days. She was expecting a “modern” look for her fashion check. I decided it was time for a shopping run.

But first, a stop at the museum. My ancient statue from Crazy Redd was real!

[Ancient Statue] July 23rd, 2013. Donation by Jeff.In Able Sisters, the only “modern” item they had was a jade plaid tee.

Mabel: The modern vibe of the jade plaid tee is nice, right? It looked like I was out of luck for now. I returned to town, where Molly was also concerned about Benedict.

Molly: It might just be a joke, but it might not be! He could be seriously considering moving! She told me to go check up on him. Now I feel kind of bad about not stopping him.

Molly: When you get a chance, could you please go check on him, boss?I did track him down and talk to him, but he didn’t mention moving again. If he does, I think I’ll tell him to stay after all.

Anyway, I went back to Gracie with my jade plaid tee. I know I didn’t have anything to go with it, but I decided to give it a shot anyway. She called me a hot mess.

Gracie: do you want to hear the brutal truth? This outfit is a hot mess. Too many different styles, honey!I tried beating her with my toy hammer, but it wouldn’t let me! So unfair!

Back up by my fountain, I saw Aurora and Tex. I decided to take a picture of my two penguins: the beautiful female, the horrible male.

My two penguin villagers, Aurora and Tex, near the Forest fountain.I also spotted Phineas walking around, so I went up to him to see what new badge I was getting! He gave me the Backyard Gardener badge, apparently because I have lots of flowers.

I got the Backyard Gardener badge! Someone recognized I love flowers and greenery!I returned to my house, and I was playing my harp upstairs when I got interrupted by Aurora!

Knock knock! Boss, are you home? She just stopped in to say hello. That was nice of her.

Aurora: I was just running an errand nearby and thought I'd drop in to say hello.Later on, I asked Wendy if I could go to her town to shop for “modern” clothing. Her Able Sisters didn’t have anything modern, but she let me borrow a blue zap suit to try out. So we headed back to Forest, where Gracie shot me down once again. These fashion checks are seriously annoying, and I’m really not happy about the fact that they’re required to get the final T&T store upgrade. I think it’s going to be a long time before I get that last store.

Anyway, I let Wendy see my new room before I kicked her out ended the party. She pointed out that the outside of my house has changed too! I didn’t even notice that. Although from the outside, it looks like the upstairs got a room on the left, and that’s not the case at all. The new room is on the first floor.

After expansion, my house appears to have a room on the left on the second floor, when the new room is on the first floor. After that, I made a quick solo trip to the island. I’ve been looking for a silver axe, and I’ve been trying to find the hide-and-seek tour again. My island had neither, so I had nothing left to do but trick Leila. Actually it was an accident; I thought I had something worthless to sell her, but I didn’t.

Leila: ...But I fought we were fwiends... Yer...yer a big meanie!See you tomorrow!

Rory’s Awkward Visit

Today, Aurora gave me a waffle tee. Do you like waffles? Yeah, I like waffles!

Trying on a waffle tee that Aurora sent me.I decided to wear it for a little while. Before long, Rory came up to me, wanting to get to my house right away! He wanted to come in for a quick visit.

Rory: All right then, get those knees up! Let's go!Once we got there, he asked if my sofa can fit two. Uhh, yeah…

Rory: You can seat two in your caterpillar sofa, right? And he wanted to talk about “technique.”

Rory: We could talk all about technique and share our training stories! And then he sneezed… I think…

Rory: Uh-oh... Something may have gone flying toward you. Sorry about that, J dog!Next, he started talking about muscles that you can’t see… At this point, I was feeling a bit uncomfortable and just wanted him out of my house.

Rory: The muscles you can't see are important too! Cold chill!Thankfully, he did leave after that. So I went to work a shift at the cafe. I got all of the customers’ orders perfect today, and Brewster gave me a fourth gyroid, the mega brewstoid. Here it is, on the far left:

My new mega brewstoid (left) completes my brewstoid gyroid collection from Brewster.Crazy Redd was in town today, so I went into his tent to see what he had for sale. I could tell the mystic statue he had was a fake, because it’s one I had bought before. As for the other three items, I ultimately decided on this ancient statue. This item was called a spaceman in City Folk.

Redd: Whoa! I see you've got eyes only for that ancient statue there! I'd say it has eyes for you too!As I continued my walk, I stopped to take a picture of the police station as seen from across the river. As you can see, it was a nice, clear night in Forest.

The moon and the clear night sky, as seen from across the river from the police station. And later on, I had earned enough money to pay off my latest house expansion. This time, I decided to add a room to the left; it will be done tomorrow.

Tom Nook: The new room will be added to the left side of the first floor, hm?
