There was a meteor shower on Thursday night, so I sat on the metal bench to watch a few shooting stars go by.

Last night, Aurora told me she saw a moth and she was obsessed with it! That seems a bit odd, but who am I to judge? I caught a precious moth for her, and she rewarded me with a chevron shirt.

The July Bug-Off was held today, and I spotted a Raja Brooke butterfly not long after starting up the game. I caught it and took it over to Nat (the Bug-Off judge), and he loved it. He gave it a score of 71 points, which put me in first place. He also gave me an antique clock.

Many of my villagers were also participating in the Bug-Off, and cute little Molly wondered aloud where her little buggy friends were.

Agent S was also enjoying the spirit of competition.

When I saw a fast dragonfly, I chased it down and caught it without too much trouble. It was a banded dragonfly! These things used to be so hard to catch in the older games!

I took it over to Nat, and it scored 91 points. That beat my own record, but it also qualified me for a buggy piece of furniture: a honeybee chest. When I took it home to get a good look at it, I was surprised it was so angular.

Believe it or not, I actually caught another banded dragonfly. But I didn’t give this one to Nat; I sold it instead.

Claudia was indoors, apparently hiding because she was having a bad hair day.

After 6:00, I entered Nat’s tent for the Bug-Off winners’ ceremony. Molly won third prize with a 41-point mantis, Rolf won 2nd with a 62-point walking stick, and my banded dragonfly won the competition. Nat gave me my trophy to celebrate the win.

After banging the day’s money rock, I had enough money to kick my bank account balance up to 114 million bells.

I checked my mail today, and Agent S sent me a gift. Before I could open it, Hornsby asked me to deliver a package to Vivian. I agreed to help out. I then went into my inventory screen to open the package from Agent S, and you guessed it, I opened the wrong package. I opened Vivian’s package by mistake! It contained a clackercart.

Agent S sent me a light-blue cap, in case you were wondering. I put it on for now, even though it doesn’t match my flame shirt.

Big Top told me that it’s embarrassing to wear shoes up his nose. Gee, I wonder why that might look funny.

When I ran into Lolly, she told me she hasn’t been using her cardboard box much lately. Wait, was she using it as a litter box?

But the discussion wasn’t about litter boxes…in fact, it was something even more awkward than that. She wanted to trade her box for Vivian’s clackercart!

Even though I didn’t want to trade away Vivian’s delivery, I didn’t want to upset Lolly when I’m still trying to earn her picture. So I made the trade.

I bumped into Vivian soon after, but there was no option to tell her what happened. She knew nothing about the botched delivery, so everything seemed normal. When I went back to Hornsby, I asked him “What was that again?” and he again told me to take the “mystery package” to Vivian.

There was no option to tell him what happened. Oh well, there’s nothing I can do about it now. I don’t know if he’ll mention it another day, but I doubt it. New Leaf tends to gloss over unfulfilled requests, unlike earlier games in the series. But if he (or Vivian) does mention it, I’ll be sure to give an update in the next blog entry.

At any rate, I did help out Vivian in another way. I found a lost item on the ground, and I eventually returned to her. So we’re even now, right? Right? 😛

On a rainy day this week, Lolly gave me a helpful tip. She said that if I go jumping in puddles, I should dry off later…in five years. I will definitely do that.

Tuesday (July 2nd) was Agent S’s birthday, so I made sure to attend her party.

I gave her a stripe shelf as her birthday present, and she was thankful to receive a gift. Claudia was also at the party to help Agent S celebrate.

The next day, I chatted with Claudia outdoors. She was spreading lies about Molly. How dare her!

Today, Boots asked me to return an item he borrowed from Lolly. I was happy to help, but Lolly thought the item smelled sweaty!

She was still happy to have it back, and she rewarded me with… a women’s recruit suit?

At Club LOL, I asked K.K. Slider for a random song. He played To The Edge for me, Hippeux, and Daisy. I think Daisy might have a crush on K.K.

After that, I returned home to play Desert Island Escape on my Wii U console. I tried using Lolly, Vivian, and Aurora…but it didn’t end up well. I ran out of food, and I think they all D.I.E.d.
