Maple’s Igloo Games

Yesterday, I received Pecan’s goodbye letter in the mail. She didn’t stick around long, but that is nut a problem at all.

At Nookington’s, I bought up ten items…just for the raffle tickets. 😛

In Acre B-5 (just one acre below Nookington’s), I met Pecan’s replacement, Petunia the purple cow.

Petunia: Oh, my! Have we met before, moo la la? I'm almost positive the answer is no.

So that means both of my temporary villagers are now cows (Patty is the other one). And that makes three cows in total, when you include Belle.

By the way, when Petunia says she’s almost positive we haven’t met before, she’s wrong. She actually lived in Forest in 2014.

When I visited Maple in her house, she didn’t recognize me! She said she’s not a fan of strangers in her home at night! 😮

Maple: Umm, good evening. Not to be rude, but I'm not a fan of strangers in my home at night. Who are you?

However, she did remember me after a few seconds. She said I “did some work for her.” 🙄

Today is the last day of the month, so that means it’s Raffle Day! And I actually had some raffle tickets for a change! Ten raffle tickets gave me two entries, and the first entry was a loser. But on my 2nd attempt, I got a blue ball. That meant I won the third prize, which was a black queen. Yay!

Tom Nook: Here's your prize, a black queen!

I’m not sure it was worth the cost of the ten items I bought yesterday, but still, it’s fun to do something different sometimes.

I spoke with Petunia again today, and she said she’s going to stop obsessing over decisions on what to have for dinner every day. But then she worried she might lose her girlish figure. 😛

Petunia: ...but what if I start to lose my girlish figure?

Today’s snowballs were just two acres apart, so I decided to roll them up and make a snowman.

Snowman: Beneath your simple exterior, there obviously beats the heart of a true master!
MY simple exterior? You’re made of two snowballs!

Maple was hanging out in an igloo, and I played some of her games to sell her some items. Since I couldn’t sell anything at the shop today (because of Raffle Day), this actually helped me out! I got some really good prices: she paid me 5,600 bells for a sproid, and a whopping 8,900 bells for a country guitar!

Maple: Here's your 8,900 bells.

On the down side, I did lose a T-rex torso for just 110 bells. But I still came out ahead overall. I even got myself another DUMMY. 😉

Maple: Your fourth choice is... DUMMY! I'll sell it to you for 1,170 bells!

In a span of just two and a half minutes, two of my villagers (Tom and Ursala) both painted my roof. Tom painted it black, and then Ursala painted it green. Since my house is covered in snow and I can’t see the roof anyway, I didn’t even care. 😛

At the post office, there was already a letter waiting to be mailed–it was my gift from the snowman. So when I sent four letters (with fossils, to the Farway Museum), that forced the mail. Phyllis had to wake up Pete to mail everything.

Phyllis: All right, I'll wake up Pete and get him on this! (For crying out loud, who mails stuff at night?)

So when I returned home, my mail was already there. The snowman sent me a snowman TV, which is my favorite snowman item. It displays a picture of snow falling near a house, and it plays a soothing, wintry tune that is so relaxing. 🤍

Jeff enjoys the snowman TV.

I know my house is way overdue for a makeover. Maybe I should take all those asteroids over to Maple’s igloo…

See you all next time!

Bitter Pecan

Despite the recent arrival of winter, Friga the penguin has already waddled out of town. I received her goodbye letter in the mail today.

My dearest Jeff, I'm sure you've become an emotional wreck looking for me, but I'm gone now! I'm sorry I left without a word. It isn't like I don't like you. It was just time to move on. Fare thee well! -Friga

Jingle also sent me a letter, wishing me happy holidays. He gave me a Balloon Fight NES game, as he does every year.

Candi, who was halfway hiding behind a house, was already looking ahead to New Year’s Day. She said that she always goes to the wishing well to make wishes, in her ears.

Candi: It's a little custom of mine. Once a year, every year, I go and make my wishes at the well, in my ears!

From the top of the cliff (where I found today’s money rock), I spotted Static down below. He arched his neck to look up at me, and it just made me think how much taller the cliffs seemed in the GameCube game…especially compared to New Horizons.

Jeff looks down at Static, and Static looks up at Jeff.

Puck commented that he hadn’t seen me in a while, so he assumed I just hopped in Gracie’s car and took off!

Puck: You were just gone one day... I figured you hopped in Gracie's ride and took off or something, brrrrrrrrr!

I’m not sure if he’s suggesting I ran away with Gracie, or if I just stole her car. 😀

Baabara was talking about the snow, and how it’s nice to curl up indoors with some hot chocolate. And then she just randomly said that drinking hot chocolate every day will make you fat.

Baabara: Drinking hot chocolate every day will make you fat.

I visited Ursala (for some reason), and she got mad that I hadn’t seen her in four weeks. She doesn’t think anything should be more important to me than visiting her, and yet she acts rude when she does see me.

Ursala: What could possibly have struck you as more important than coming to visit ME? Honestly!

But on the bright side, she did give me 2,490 bells for my righty desk (which Belle gave me for free).

In acre B-1 (just south of the post office), I found a new house. Pecan the squirrel has moved in, and she is another snooty. Oh joy.

Pecan: Stop shouting! I'm right here! I can hear you fine, chipmunk!
She has multiple paintings in her house, just like Ursala.
She’s also rude…which is also like Ursala.

Have a happy and safe New Year’s Eve, everyone! 🎆🎆🎆

Harvest Festival 2020

Today is Thanksgiving in the U.S., and that means it’s time for the harvest festival! Believe it or not, I hadn’t played this version on Thanksgiving since 2012! But I sure did today!

Robin’s replacement has finally moved in, and it’s Friga the penguin. She’s never been one of my favorites, and my dislike for snooty villagers in general has been well-documented. 😉

Friga: Hm. As I expected. I am Friga. It's a pleasure to meet you, brrrmph!

I headed over to the wishing well, where the harvest festival party was going on. Hank couldn’t wait for the main course to arrive…even though he (as a bird) is related to the main course. 😛

Hank: Let's have a toast for the... yet-to-arrive main course!

Puck, Sydney, Candi, and Belle was also there. Candi said she’s learning who was raised well, and who was born in a barn. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that she said this while sitting across from Belle. 🐄

Candi: This is the type of gathering where you find out just who was raised well and who was born in a barn.

Tortimer was also there, and he made it clear I was not welcome at his house!

Tortimer: Have you been out harvesting fruit for your own feast tonight? I hope so! You sure can't come over to my house!
Oh, that’s how we joke. He doesn’t even have a house!

I swiped the knife and fork from the table…

…and then I started looking for Franklin. It’s nice that you can get free hints about Franklin’s location from villagers. No silverware required for the hints (unlike in City Folk).

Tom: Have you seen the weirdo that's been hiding in acre B? What a crank, daahling.

I hunted down Franklin and gave him the knife and fork for some harvest furniture rewards.

Franklin: Whew! I really owe you one! These have an evil aura! They were waiting for me. I can sense these things.

I repeated this procedure over and over, finding Franklin a total of six times before I had my fill. 😛

Franklin: You are incredible! I love you! Got you now you pointy little fiends!

Franklin gave me a harvest dresser, harvest clock, harvest sofa, harvest rug, harvest bureau, and harvest chair. I sold the items for a total of 17,865 bells.

After that, I made a quick stop at the post office and then returned home. I hope you all had a happy Thanksgiving/harvest festival/turkey day! See you next time, gobble gobble!
