Lyin’ Lion

As I expected, Bones has moved out of town before I got a chance to meet him. That’s okay though, because I now have him in my City Folk town. At least there, he won’t be asleep every time I play.

Sorry, Jeff, I'm writing to tell you I left Forest secretly, so don't bother looking for me. See, I... Well, I just had to leave, OK? Let it lie. And if possible...send me fruit! -The Hungry Bones

I spoke with Puck, and he was complaining about Crazy Redd. He said that when he purchased something from Redd, it turned out to be a boring hunk of junk that he already had in his room.

Puck: It was just some plain, old boring hunk of junk! I had the exact same thing in my room already!

But there’s a huge hole in that logic. Crazy Redd is certainly dishonest and greedy, but at least he lets you see what you’re buying. Sorry Puck, but that was all on you. Still, Puck said he’s going to stick to buying junk from Tom Nook instead.

Puck: What a rip off! From now on, I'm sticking to good old, reliable Tom Nook. It's still junk, but it's cheap junk!

Static informed me that he painted my roof black. Actually, I didn’t mind too much this time. Especially since you can’t really see the roof when it’s covered by snow in winter anyway.

Static: I painted it black, like you told me to. Check it out.

Belle was inside of an igloo, and she wanted me to play a game with her. But her idea of game involved me buying a sandbag from her for up to 32,283 bells…that was all the bells I had! No thanks.

I found the house of my newest neighbor, and Rex the lion was inside. He was going on and on about how good he is at ping-pong.

Rex: Hey, Jeff. It may not look like it, but I'm actually really good at ping-pong. Honest.
Rex: Yeah! It's hard to believe, I know, but everyone used to call me a phenom. It was awesome, cool cat!

But then he blurts out that he made up the whole thing! He’s a lyin’ lion. I don’t like this guy.

Rex: I mean, my handwriting's brutal. It's chicken-scratch. And this whole phenom thing, it's not true. I made it up.

That’s all I have for now, but I’ll see you next time!

If you’re interested, Amazon has a new (just released this month, apparently) Animal Crossing sticker book for sale. I’m tempted to buy one for myself, and maybe one as a gift as well. 😛

Sleeping Bones

Rollo the hippo, who moved in last month, has now shipped out of town. I got his goodbye letter in the mail today.

How ARE you, Jeff? Well now, I bet your bottom bell you didn't expect me to cut out and split town, huh? Nope, I shocked the world! I'm turning over a new leaf--see you on the flip side! -Laters, Rollo

I also received a letter from Jingle, to wish me happy holidays. He sent me Balloon Fight (the NES game) as my gift.

When I visited Candi, she told me that she would have banned me from her house if I didn’t visit her tonight. Aw man. Too bad I didn’t play one day later. 😛

Candi: Honestly? If you hadn't stopped by tonight, I was gonna ban you from my house, sweetie!
Who can take a rude mouse, and kick you out of her house? The Candi ban can.

I visited Tom, and he was being just as friendly as Candi!

Tom: ...snort... mmmmmph... GAAR HAR HAR HAR! It's me, you idiot! Me!

Just one day after Bones moved out of my New Leaf town, he moved into my GameCube town! But fittingly, I had the same problem with him here that I did in New Leaf: He was already asleep, and I didn’t even get to see him! It wasn’t even 11 p.m. yet.

Sign on Bones' house: Sleeping now. Come back when I'm awake.

In case you haven’t seen it already, I made a video earlier this month about interesting town features. It includes some odd ramps, an island in the river, bridges on the tropical island, fidget spinner shaped dirt patch, and more. Check it out!

Have a Happy New Year, everyone!

Mayor’s Day

It was snowing as I started up Forest this evening. Today is Mayor’s Day, which coincides with Election Day in the United States. So I found Tortimer at the wishing well, and he seemed to think he was just elected mayor!

Tortimer: I suppose that as the newly elected mayor, I'll have to give some sort of dramatic victory speech...

He was so happy that he even said it was the greatest day of the year.

Tortimer: Today's the greatest day of the year...

He will give you a well model if you haven’t already received one in a previous year…but I have. So I’m including a picture of Scott with his well model. If you look closely, you can see Farley.

The well model in Animal Crossing for Nintendo GameCube.

Not surprisingly, Alfonso has already hopped and bopped his way out of town. I got his goodbye letter in the mail.

How ARE you, Jeff? Well now, I bet your bottom bell you didn't expect me to cut out and split town, huh? Nope, I shocked the world! I'm turning over a new leaf--see you on the flip side! Laters, Alfonso

I found his replacement, who just moved in next door to Belle. It was Rollo the hippo, and he asked if I brought him some dinner. I guess he was a hungry, hungry hippo.

Rollo: Hi! Top o' the evening to ya! Did you come to deliver me a nice, tasty dinner? Yuk yuk!

Not much else was going on in Forest, but I want to give a quick update about Ohio. I played on Sunday, during the fishing tournament. I met up with Tortimer, and he gave me a fishing trophy! Unlike in later games, the trophy isn’t the prize for winning the tournament. It’s just something that Tortimer gives you to commemorate the occasion.

Tortimer: It's a fishing trophy.

I got a goodbye letter from Chuck the bull. He lived in Ohio for many years, so I was surprised to see him go! You may remember I put him on the cover of Animal Chopping: New Beef. 😀 His replacement was Kabuki, who I’ve always liked.

Lulu reminded me of something else that goes way back. She used to live in Forest! Back when I used to do a lot of train traveling (2004 or so?), a number of villagers went from Forest to Ohio and vice versa. I know there was a lot of switching around, which is why I eventually gave up train travel (after getting Hank and Genji back to Forest). But I had forgotten that Lulu was one of the animals caught in the shuffle.

Lulu: I sent so many letters when I lived in Forest.
