It was storming in Forest as I started up the game tonight. In my mailbox was a goodbye letter from Bertha. I’m not sure why she used Halloween paper, but whatever.

I went to meet my newest neighbor, Sally the squirrel. In Animal Crossing: New Leaf, her name was changed to Cally.

As I made my way around town, I was pulling weeds everywhere I went. I had tons of them!

Over by the museum, Baabara told me she wanted to move out of town and she asked me if she should stay or go! Unlike in other Animal Crossing games, this is a fairly rare occurrence on GameCube. And unlike the other games, I’m pretty sure how you answer has no bearing on what actually happens. Baabara is one of my “permanent 13” villagers and I’d be completely shocked if she moved out.

If you’re not sure what I mean by my “permanent 13,” take a look at this blog’s first entry from March 20, 2011. At that time, I listed my 15 villagers, including 13 that had been in my town for years. Those same 13 villagers are still in my town today. The other two spots are occupied by villagers that come and go, but those 13 seem to be stuck in my town permanently. The good thing is that I like most of those 13 villagers. The bad thing is that no new villagers will ever stick around, no matter what.

On the upper part of town, Candi gave me her weather forecast.

After I was done talking to all my villagers (except for a few that I didn’t run into), I went around searching for more weeds. I kept pulling all that I could find until my town reached perfect status once again.

And just because I don’t think I’ve posted a map of my town in a very long time, here’s a current look at Forest’s layout and house placement.

I didn’t get much bang for the buck, because Buck has already moved out of town. I got his goodbye letter today.

When I spoke to Puck, he told me how he was worried after not seeing me for three weeks. Sorry Mr. Penguin, I was just chilling.

Bertha was telling me about Katrina’s upcoming appearance in town. She also mentioned how Katrina only charges 50 bells! That’s just 10% of what she charges in New Leaf! For all the jokes about how Tom Nook and Crazy Redd rip people off, has anyone’s prices increased by a higher percentage than Katrina’s? I think not.

Gulliver was washed up on the beach, and I brought him back to life. Actually, I just woke him up. But he still appreciated it very much. Oh yes, he sure did.

I chatted with many of my villagers and caught up with them. Hank gave me some fishing tips (gee, thanks) and Tom thought I smelled like muffins for some reason. And in acre B-1, I met my newest neighbor: Aziz the blue-haired lion.

After that, I stopped at the post office, took a look in the dump, and then headed for home. See you next time.

It had been a while since I last checked up on my Animal Crossing GameCube town, so I made sure to do that today. When I started the game up, I saw a goodbye letter from Roald the penguin. He was pretty cool, so it’s sad to see him go already.

After shopping at Nookington’s, I saw a new house that was in the same spot as Roald’s. Buck the horse has moved into town. He lived in my City Folk town once before, so I’m quite familiar with him.

Genji wasn’t far away, and I spoke with him on this rainy evening. He was trying to clean up his house a bit, so he asked me to buy his Keiko figurine for 1,450 bells. I didn’t really need it, but I bought it anyway, just to be nice.

I had a lot of weeds to pull, so I tried to take care of them as I made my way around town. When I met up with Static, he pretended to not know who I am.

And down by the ocean, Ursala wanted to buy my Keiko figurine for 1,710 bells. That was even more than I paid for it, so I gladly sold it to her. But she seemed to think I only sold it to her because she’s so irresistibly cute. Ha!

Closer to home, Emerald was telling me how she would sometimes bury items in the ground to hide them, and then later she’d forget where she put them. She asked if I had the same problem, and I said no. That seemed to set her off, because she got furious and considered that an insult! How rude!

After that, I stopped at the post office and then returned home for the night.

You may notice that my screenshots don’t look quite as good as usual today. For a while now, I had been playing on my Wii. I have a component cable for my Wii, so that allows higher-quality screenshots than the standard composite cables. Unfortunately, I couldn’t get my Wii to read my Animal Crossing disc. My Wii’s disc drive has been slowly dying for years now, and it now seems to have reached the point of uselessness.

So I had to play the game on my GameCube today, and I only have a composite cable for it.  Component cables for GameCube seem to run around $150 on eBay, which is craaazy! I’ll give my Wii another try next time, but I may be out of luck.
