Camping with Sue E

This weekend’s summer camper was Sue E, a former Forest resident.

Sue E: And you get a fine fine painting.
I’m fine with that.

Fortunately, her games were MUCH easier to win than the other campers I’ve had this summer. One of her games has you trying to pick an ace out of four cards she holds. You get three chances, so you end up winning most of the time. Even if you lose, you buy the item with up to 3,000 bells. Unlike in some other camper games, she won’t take all of your money. Another plus is that the items she gives are all furniture. She won’t give carpet or wallpaper.

Her other game seems to have about 50/50 odds. If you win, she buys an item you have (usually for around 3,000 bells). If you lose, she gets the item for free. But the terms of these games make it so much easier to score items and/or money. I did end up playing her games for a few hours, but I ended up with a profit of around 25,000 bells plus all of these items.

About 20 furniture items I got from Sue E's games.I also scored one of the items I needed for my upstairs room. I just need one more. After I was done with Sue E, I returned to my house and read my mail. I had a goodbye letter from Cesar.

Cesar's goodbye letter.I like that stationery. Cesar’s exit meant there was a new daddy villager in town. It was Wolfgang. I introduced myself to him before ending my game for the night.

Wolfgang: Good to meet you.

Camping Pains

It was raining in Forest today. I looked around and found the tent; this weekend’s summer camper is Ava the chicken. I played her games, over and over and over. I played them for nearly three hours! And I didn’t get even one of the specific item I was looking for!

Ava: OK! This will be fun! I promise!
Her promise is a lie.

The summer campers are one thing that many people mention as a reason they believe the GameCube game is superior to other Animal Crossing games. And indeed, it is a unique addition. But at the same time, I think those people may be forgetting just how annoying and frustrating the summer campers’ games can be.

You can play them for hours on end, losing lots of money and items along the way, and still not get the item you’re looking for. One bad thing about Animal Crossing in general is how ridiculously difficult and extremely time-consuming it is to collect some of the rare items.

After wasting nearly three hours on that nonsense, I didn’t feel like doing much else in my town. I talked to a couple animals and then headed for home.

Hank: That face could only belong to ol' Jeff! Right, rooster?

4th of July Fireworks

Today I got a goodbye letter from Gruff. He is gone now.

Gruff's goodbye letter. To celebrate the 4th of July (Independence Day), a fireworks festival was held at the lake. Kody, Maple, Genji, and Belle were there to enjoy the fireworks.

Genji: Cool! Killer! That one was like SWWWWWHHHHH-POW!Crazy Redd was also there, selling balloons once again.

Redd: Look what I've got for you! Bright, bobbling balloons!I bought a blue bunny balloon and watched the fireworks for a little bit.

Watching the fireworks.I then stopped to meet my new neighbor, Cesar.

Cesar: I'm Cesar. You got a problem with that? After that, I headed for home. Happy 4th of July everyone!
