Purple Roses for Bob

Today was the day that Bob moved out of Forest. He sent me this goodbye letter:

Dear Jeff, Moving day is finally here, and I keep thinking of the fun times we had. Those memories are what I'll take with me to my new town, not just boxes and stuff. -From BobI took the bus to the city and saw Phineas there. I was hoping he’d give me a purple balloon, to honor Bob, but he gave me a red one instead.

Jeff the mummy holding a red balloon from Phineas in the city. But I chose to honor Bob in a different way. I got a dozen purple roses out of storage and planted them where his house was. And they will remain there until another house takes that spot. Yeah, I know I’ll lose the flowers when that eventually happens, but I don’t care.  R.I.P. Bob.

Purple roses on the ground where Bob's house once stood.Saharah was in town, looking for old carpet. So I trapped her on the edge of a cliff (so I could easily find her later) and began asking my remaining villagers if they had any. I couldn’t ask Blaire though, because she was sick. So I bought her some medicine.

Blaire flips upside-down as she takes some medicine. When I circled back around, I saw something I did not expect to see. Saharah was free from the trap, but Octavian was now in it! All without the holes ever disappearing!

Octavian in the trap, despite no apparent way he could have gotten there.Wow, that’s quite a magic trick illusion! I guess the moral of the story is that if you want an animal to remain trapped, don’t use a cliff as one of the boundaries. That was pretty funny, though. I’m sure Octavian was just thinking “How did I get here?”

Anyway, three of my villagers had old carpeting for me: Octavian, Avery, and Melba.

Melba: No, go right ahead! I don't need new flooring just yet, so you're welcome to my old one!I then returned to Saharah (who fortunately didn’t wander off very far), and gave her the three carpets. In exchange, she gave me a classroom floor. It is an item I needed, so I was able to mark if off of my checklist.

The classroom floor on display in my house.

Goodbye, Friend

This afternoon, I suddenly realized that I never played ACCF yesterday! I was afraid I had lost a bunch of black roses, so I started up the game ASAP to check the damages. Fortunately, I didn’t find any black roses missing, as far as I can tell. But I did find lots of wilted ones, which will be gold roses tomorrow.

A number of wilted black roses. But that didn’t mean I avoided misfortune for the day. Tragedy struck when I went into Bob’s house. To my shock, horror, and disbelief, he was packed to move out!

Bob: I didn't get a chance to tell you until now. I feel bad that it's so last-minute...Bob was leaving me, without warning. Without a chance to change his mind. Bob has been in Forest since early 2009. Nearly the entire existence of my town. He had been my favorite villager for just as long. Lots of good memories with him, and with all my old Wi-Fi friends that liked him too.

Bob: Even though we'll be apart, we're always gonna be pals! We're like peanut butter and jelly! Huh huh!Forest will never be the same without him. In a way, Bob was Forest. This is truly saddening.

I reluctantly continued on to water my flowers. Pinky asked me for a new catchphrase, so I had her say “R.I.P. Bob.” But her heart clearly was not in it.

Pinky: R.I.P. Bob! Like, look at me! I'm happy!

My Weird Villagers

Tonight, Pinky was telling me how where she came from, they’d come up with any excuse to have a party. Even “Gramma’s day at the softball finals.”

Pinky: Gramma's Day at the Softball Finals. When I went to visit Octavian, he told me that many people don’t think his room fits his personality. I’d have to agree. I don’t know many octopi that are obsessed with outer space and have a collection of hazardous materials.

Octavian: You know, a lot of folks have told me this room doesn't really suit my personality...And outside of Nook ‘n’ Go, Becky was going on and on about how great Tom Nook is. Please, spare me.

Becky: I mean, without all the marvelous goods he sells, we'd be nothing more than animals! And Lily was rearranging the room in her head. What a weird frog.

Lily: I was just rearranging my room. In my head. What? There's nothing weird about that! Is there?I found two new black roses today. My gold rose collection is growing nicely…I think in just a few more months, I should be done lining all my paths with them. I’ve been working towards this goal for close to three years now, and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I’ll be sure to make a new town tour video once I’m all done with it.
