Curt, Turkey

On Saturday, I received three letters in the mail. That included Rizzo’s goodbye letter and a letter from Wolfgang, thanking me for the recent medicine. But I also received a letter from Queenie, who finally responded to the letter I sent her on her birthday. She thanked me for the letter and gift, but she did not specifically acknowledge that it was her birthday.

Dear Jeff, Your letter and present were so very thoughtful! I planned to give you this in person, but I got tired of waiting. So here it is! I won't spoil the surprise! -From: Queenie
Spoiler alert: it was a lovely carpet.

On Tuesday, I spontaneously decided to buy an axe and throw it in the fountain. Serena popped up, and surprisingly, she actually gave me a silver axe. Of course I’ve earned silver axes before, but it’s fairly uncommon. She typically keeps your axe or gives you the same one back.

Serena: Silver axes are pretty nice, too. Definitely up there in the whole precious-metal-axe scene.

Today (Thursday) is Thanksgiving in the U.S., which is known as the harvest festival in this game. Mayor Tortimer was outside of town hall, saying that today is the day we feast like kings. Or pigs. Or teddy bears. Yeah, something like that.

Tortimer: Today we feast like kings! Today we gorge like pigs! Today we stuff ourselves like teddy bears!

He gave me a knife and fork, and I had to keep an eye out for Franklin. But before I found the hiding turkey, I spotted a new house in town. Rizzo’s replacement is Curt the cranky bear.

Curt: Well, whoever you are, you've got nerve busting into a stranger's house without so much as a word!
Here’s your word: Goodbye.

That’s not exactly much of an improvement. Not much at all.

A few minutes later, I found Franklin freaking out behind Guest’s house.

Franklin: I'm freakin' out here!

I gave him my knife and fork, and he gave me a harvest chair. I went back to Tortimer to get some more silverware, and I continued searching for Franklin.

I repeated the process over and over. Ultimately, I found him nine times and earned nine pieces of the harvest furniture set. I sold them all for 27,864 bells, which doesn’t sound like nearly enough considering how much work it is to keep saving his life. 😛

In the city, Phineas gave me an orange balloon. I realized that I now have one color of each balloon (at least the standard balloons, not counting bunny balloons). So I started to straighten up my incredibly messy main room. I still have pitfalls everywhere, but this is actually cleaner than it was. 😛

Balloons and New Year's shirts in my house.

I posted a new video taking a look at 16 things that City Folk has introduced to the Animal Crossing series, which are still around today. I’ve had this video in the works for a long time, but I was waiting for the big New Horizons update to arrive. (Three of these things weren’t originally in the video until they were re-added in Version 2.0.)

I hope you all had a good Harvest Festival, Thanksgiving, Turkey Day, and/or Thursday!
