My Pet

Astrid told me she was feeling out of sorts today. She had something on her mind, and couldn’t think about anything else.

Astrid: Once I start to think about something, I just can't get it out of my head...

At the Roost, K.K. Slider performed K.K. Ballad for me. From the looks of this screenshot, he must have put himself to sleep. 😛 Just kidding, I do like the song, even though it is a bit slow.

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: K.K. Ballad.

After the show, I shot down a balloon present. It contained a writing chair.

Shooting down a balloon present in Animal Crossing: City Folk.

I visited Crazy Redd, and it got me thinking… City Folk is the only Animal Crossing game where you can shop at Redd’s store any day of the week. In the other games, he only shows up once a week (or less). Anyway, Redd had this saw horse for sale today…

Redd: Oh, ho! I see you've taken quite a shine to that there saw horse, yes?

It’s an item that’s more suited to outdoor use (on a construction site, for example). But City Folk doesn’t allow you to use furniture outdoors. And oddly enough, this item does not seem to be in New Horizons (the game that does allow outdoor furniture). Nintendo makes some odd decisions sometimes.

I caught a flea that was on Goldie, and she said she feels like she’s my pet! That’s kinda cute! I’d love to have Goldie as a pet! 🙂

Goldie: I hope this doesn't sound weird, but... I kinda feel like I'm your pet, J-bot!

Bones asked me to catch a bitterling for him, and Walker wanted me to find his key for him. So I did a little fishing, but I wasn’t having any luck. On what I decided would be my last fish (over the waterfall), I caught Walker’s key. I returned it to him, and he thanked me for making sure he wouldn’t have to nap outside.

Walker: Thank you soooooooo much, Jeff! You saved me from having to nap outside!

I recently posted my annual slideshow of best pictures over the past year. Check out The 12th Year in Pictures!

Astrid Arrives

Chip was in town today, for the November fishing tourney. He informed me that Goldie was the big winner of the carp-only tournament earlier in the day. She caught a 35-incher!

Chip: Goldie from here in Forest! Solid fishing! But not so much for you. Nyuuk nyuk!

Gala’s replacement has moved into town, and it’s a 2-for-1 deal. Astrid the kangaroo moved in, along with her child too.

Astrid: What, can't you tell? I just moved here, and now I'm trying to get everything in its proper place!
I’m sure that kid is gonna be a star. ⭐

Portia told me that she always gets a massage on Saturdays, with the trendy treatment of the week. This time, she’ll be using essences of yogurt parfait and butter cake.

Portia: This week, my massage will use the essences of yogurt parfait and butter cake!

I didn’t find any rare mushrooms in town today, but I did find one elegant mushroom. It’s worth 10,000 bells, so that’s still a nice, valuable chunk of fungus. 😉

At the Roost, I asked K.K. Slider for a random song, and he performed K.K. Steppe for me. It’s not a bad song.

Bones said he was looking for a new pet, and he wanted a crucian carp. I caught one for him, and he rewarded me with a gold econo-chair.

Bones: Yippee! A crucian carp! Thanks a million, Chill J! Woof woof!

As I headed to the store to sell the other fish I caught (before the crucian carp), Tom pinged me. He wanted to buy my bitterling, and he gave me 1,003 bells for it. That seems like an odd unusual amount to pay for a fish, but I’ll take it.

Tom: Great! Thanks! Here you go, exactly 1,003 bells, no changed needed!

This past Monday (November 16th) was the 12th anniversary of the game’s release. I didn’t do anything special for the occasion, but I will be posting my annual slideshow of my best pictures of the year soon.

See you all next time!

Lesser Animal

I received Gala’s goodbye letter in the mail today. Does that make her my pig pen pal? 😛 It is sad to see her go, though.

Dear Jeff, Today's my last day. I'm leaving Forest. Good-bye, Jeff. I hope you won't forget me! -Take care, Gala

It’s K.K. night, so I went down to the Roost to hear some music. K.K. tried to put me to sleep! He sang me a lullaby.

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: K.K. Lullaby.
His eyes are closed in this pic, so maybe he put himself to sleep too!

After the show, I ran into Wolfgang outside. He asked me for a new catchphrase to replace his default “snarrrl,” so I told him to say “wolfman” instead.

Rasher was sick with a cold, and he told me not to come any closer. That’s because he said his cold “would kill a lesser animal.”

Rasher: Hack, hack! Cough, choke! Don't come near me! This cold would kill a lesser animal, woof woof!

Is he calling me a lesser animal? Jerk. Just for that, I did not buy him any medicine.

Portia asked me to make a delivery to Goldie, and I agreed to help out. But I had some serious trouble finding Goldie! It took me nearly two trips around town before I saw her. But I gave her the gift (a waitress shirt), and she seemed to enjoy it. Portia rewarded me with a retro TV.

Finding another rare mushroom (worth 16k) put me in a money-making mood. So I went on another fruit run, collecting and selling lots of foreign fruit from around town. At one point, the way the fruit fell off of one certain tree helped me find a buried fossil I had previously missed!

Pears fall from a tree in an unusual pattern.

In total, I made 110,000 bells on the night.
