Duck No

The snow of winter has melted, and green grass has returned at last. It was raining in town tonight, and Goldie was happy because she got to use her favorite umbrella. 😛

Goldie: I'm so happy! Today, I get to walk around sporting my favorite umbrella ever, woof woof!

It must have been green furniture day at Nook ‘n’ Go today. The three furniture items available were a green bed, a tall cactus, and a green table.

At the Roost, Rasher was having some coffee. But he didn’t seem very thrilled to see me…probably because he was on a date with Phyllis! The secret’s out now! 😂

Rasher: Hey, Chill J, I didn't think I'd see you in the cafe at this time of night...

I found a new house in town, and Maelle was inside. I’m not a fan of the ugly duckling.

Maelle: Oh! Well, good evening! I'm surprised that I have visitors to my new house already, duckling.

She’s not an improvement over Monique. Not at all. Where’s an NES Zapper when I need one? 😛

Goldie Raised by Wolves?

I received Monique’s goodbye letter in the mail tonight.

To: Jeff, I wonder where I'll be when you get this letter? Well, I know I won't be in Forest, because I've moved away. Thanks for everything. And take care! -From: Monique

Mere seconds after I stepped away from my mailbox, Bones approached me with a request to play hide-and-seek. It seems like I haven’t played it in a long time (in any AC game), so I agreed to play. I had 15 minutes to find Bones, Rasher, and Puck.

Bones: OK, here are the rules. We'll go hide somewhere in town. But we'll definitely be outside, woof woof.

Two and a half minutes later, I found Bones hiding behind an orange tree. A minute after that, I found Puck, with a considerably worse hiding spot.

Puck tries to hide behind a sign post.

A couple minutes later, I found Rasher trying to hide behind the museum.

Bones gave me a buzzoid for winning the game. I later gave it to Brewster for safekeeping. I want to eventually store one of each gyroid with Brewster, but I think I still have a long way to go.

When I visited Wolfgang, he informed me that Goldie was raised by wolves! Was he one of the wolves that raised her? Is that how he knows?

Wolfgang: Take Goldie, for example. Did you know she was raised by wolves?

I finally got to see the inside of Lucky’s tomb house now that he’s all unpacked, and he has several pieces of Egyptian furniture, as you might expect. But he also had a couple of asteroids, which I found interesting.

Lucky: Hiya, Chill J. I've been looking everywhere for you, rrr-owch!

At the Roost, I checked out K.K.’s Saturday night musical performance. It may still be February, but K.K. was ready to march into March. 😉

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: K.K. March.

Goldie asked me to catch a dung beetle for her, so I did just that. In return, she gave me a teacher’s desk.

Goldie: Oh! A dung beetle!

Tricky Cricket

I received a letter from the snowman I built last week, and he sent me a snowman lamp. I sold it for a cool 8,888 bells.

When I went to visit Monique, I was surprised to find her all packed up and ready to move out of town. It’s actually a good thing to see her go; I just didn’t think it would happen so soon.

Monique: I'm moving out soon! I'm just too special to stay in one town for very long.

Over in front of town hall, Chip was hanging out due to today’s fishing tournament. He informed me that Goldie won the tourney with a 95-inch tuna! Wow, congrats Goldie!

Puck asked me if I had eaten any pizza today. Ha, I wish. 😛 When I told him no, he asked why I was acting all cheesy. 😛

Puck: But then, why are you acting all cheesy today?

I made my way over to the Roost, where K.K. Slider was performing. I asked for a random song, and he played K.K. Salsa for me. It’s actually a pretty entertaining song when performed live.

K.K.: All right, get ready to dig the riffs on this ditty: K.K. Salsa.

After the show, Goldie asked me to catch a mole cricket for her. I agreed to help out, so I kept my ears open. I heard one near the northwest bridge, so I started digging holes. The mole cricket popped out, I swung my net and missed, and then my batteries died!

My batteries die as I swing my net (and miss) at a mole cricket.

That was horrible timing for my batteries to die out like that! By the time I replaced the batteries, the mole cricket was obviously long gone. I heard another one behind Scott’s house, and I dug a bunch of holes before it appeared. Once it did show up, the house blocked my view and my blind net swings missed the target. It too got away. Oof.

Fortunately, the third try was the charm. I finally caught a mole cricket near Nook ‘n’ Go.

I caught a mole cricket! Proceeding with interrogation!

I took it over to Goldie (who was near where I missed the first mole cricket), and she pinged me as I got there. She wanted me to tell her a new greeting, but I didn’t want to have to think of something for her to say. 😛 She got annoyed that I wouldn’t help her, so I had to wait for her to stop being angry before I could give her the bug. But once I did, she was happy to have it.

Goldie: Oh, wow! Is that... It is! It's a mole cricket!

She gave me some imperial tile for helping out. That task turned out to be trickier than I expected!
