Apollo 2

On Tuesday, Mom sent me this letter about taking a walk with Dad on a gorgeous spring day. It was so cute!

Dear Jeff, Last Sunday was gorgeous. It was the perfect day to be outside. Your dad asked me out on a date. We took a walk. It was romantic! -Mom

I found a new house in town, so I went inside to meet Maelle’s replacement. It was a villager I already have in New Horizons: Apollo!

Apollo: My name's Apollo. If the boxes didn't give it away, I just moved into town today.

I like Apollo a lot, so I’m eagle eager to see more of him around town. 🙂

Yesterday, Pascal was in town, standing on my southern bridge. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any scallops on the beach, and I didn’t have any in storage either. But I still spoke with him to hear his words of wisdom. He was wondering why boats don’t have fins. 😛

Pascal: Why don't boats have fins, maaan? It just makes SENSE!

Today, Stitches told me that he had to move out of town! 😮

Stitches: Hey, darling, I know this is kinda sudden, but I have to move out of Forest.
Over my stuffed body!

I told him to stay, but he still insisted on leaving. So I kept trying and trying. It took about eight tries, but he eventually relented.

Apollo was home today, so I got to see the inside of his house now that he has unpacked. He has some modern furniture, a couple of chess pieces, and a couple of fossils. I normally like modern furniture, but they don’t look good with this wallpaper and flooring.

I prefer his house in New Horizons.

It’s been a whopping four years since I’ve last seen a UFO in this game. A big reason for that is because I mostly play on Fridays and/or Saturdays, and the UFO can only come Mondays through Thursdays. But I’d really like to remedy that. No UFO today though, because Pete was in town instead.

Pete: Sorry, but I've still got a ton of deliveries to make! Can't talk now, gotta go!

I gathered up all the seashells on the shore, and I found a scallop. I put it in a letter, so I’ll be ready the next time Pascal shows up.

See you again next week!

Halfway to a Feather

I received Maelle’s goodbye letter in the mail today. I can’t say that I’ll miss her, but she did send a nice letter.

To: Jeff, The day has come for me to leave Forest. Thank you for making life here SO wonderful. I'll always remember you! -From: Maelle

As I spoke with my villagers, a couple of them mentioned that Pascal was in town (standing on a bridge, of course).

Gwen: Sometimes I run into a philosopher who spends time on the bridge.

I didn’t have any scallops on me, so I had to go looking on the beach for one. Once I tracked one down, I took it back to Pascal. He was talking about birthday parties and free cake. Not exactly the most serious topic for a philosopher, but who doesn’t like free cake? 🎂

Pascal: Always bring a present to a birthday party, maaaan. 'Cause, hey. Free cake.

He gave me some sea view wallpaper in exchange for the scallop, and then he took a dive into the river.

After making my rounds, I went on a fruit-gathering run. It took me about eight trips with full pockets, but I managed to meet the milestone that I was talking about last week: I have now saved up 50 million bells!

Your current balance is 50,000,000 bells.

Aside from being a nice, big, round number, it has some slight significance. After 13.5 years of playing this game, I am now halfway to earning the first feather (the green feather). They made these things wayyyyyy too hard to earn, but at least it provides some (very) long-term goals to keep working towards.

If you’re used to New Horizons or New Leaf, let me assure that bells are much harder to come by in the older games. There’s no island filled with tropical bugs year-round, there are no characters that pay bonus for fish or bugs, there’s no “Bell Boom” ordinance, and there aren’t even hot items that earn more money at the shop. Earning money is a slow grind in the older games.

It’s nice to reach this milestone, and someday, that green feather will be mine! 😂 I don’t know if I’ll ever earn the other feathers, but I’ll take life one feather at a time. 😁 See you all next time!

Outgoing Maelle

When I took a trip to the city on Thursday night, I saw the silhouette of Serena’s statue against the backdrop of the moon. I thought it looked pretty cool, so I snapped a picture.

I visited Marcel yesterday, and two of his lucky cats had been moved and turned. They now sat in the middle of the room, facing a gyroid and a fire extinguisher. I could understand a cat being intrigued by a moving gyroid, but why stare at a fire extinguisher? I’d think it would dampen my enthusiasm. 💧

While walking near the ramp tonight, I heard someone fall into a pitfall! (It’s not one that I planted.) I soon saw Goldie walking around normally, so it wasn’t her. But when I went up the ramp, I saw an angry Gaston stomping around. 😂 He was clearly the pitfall victim, even though I wasn’t fortunate enough to witness the incident myself. 😛

Gaston: What?! What do you want? Don't you get it? I'm not in the mood, chucklehead! Scram, mon chou!

K.K. Slider was in town, and I asked him to play a feel-good song for me. He played Neapolitan, and I enjoyed the show.

K.K.: Here's a peppy number that'll make you flip. This one's called Neapolitan.

And after seeing Maelle still walking around freely Thursday and Friday, she was finally packed up to move out tonight. Goodbye, duck!

Maelle: I'm getting ready to move out of town, like we talked about.

I’m approaching a pretty big milestone that I may hit in the next week or three. It’s not really something that’s acknowledged in the game, though. I’ll elaborate when the time comes.

See you next time! Never Stop Crossing! 🙂
